Just came across this tweet randomly:

“Future of the 716” is a Sabres prospects podcast. Nice to see that the people who’ve been following this kid closely are so high on him.

Even the negative replies in that thread are pretty positive, when it comes to Bloom:

3rd line winger, PK, offensive upside, skates well, and likely to play in the NHL?

Yes, please. :)

This sounds GREAT!!  Now why the heck did the Sabres let him go for Stillman?  Something's missing here.

They have so many prospects at his level or better they can afford to part with him.

Back then they had Dahlin out and another defender (can't remember who). They brought in Stillman as a depth guy who played in the league this year. They were in the wildcard race. As it turns out Dahlin only missed 3 games, and ironically Stillman is now out day to day.

That makes sense as to why we were able to get Bloom for Stillman.  I'm a little surprised that the Sabres couldn't get a better depth D-man for him, but if he's really as good as he's sounding here, we may have been really fortunate with our timing!

I'd would put the value of Josh Bloom at a 2nd or 3rd round pick... So that's in essence what we got for Stillman.
