amplified0ne
7 minutes ago, Pavel the Bure said: they could, retained money on Boeser deal, keep him around 4 mln and he maybe traded.....true is all 3 players in Canucs uniform, the rest could/should irrelevant at this point They basically can't retain because they added money. They have boxed themselves into a corner. They will have to pay picks, buyouts, and/or add in Quinn or Elias in a sweetener deal it's that bad.

Highly doubtful unless massive cap retention for the next 7 years but then what's the point if we need to spend 6m after that to replace his production? Myers and Boeser are the only way we'll free up cap. Quite obvious How so? They have no value and will either bring lots of cap back, need a lot of retention or will need serious sweeteners. Miller was the best, easiest solution

c00kies
Sounds like they wanted a young center from Pittsburgh for Miller instead of picks. Wish we got picks so we could get a young center... 1
jyu
Starting with Bo trade, it's been about 1 month of speculation and anticipation. Two major deals were Bo and Hronek. Minor deals were Lazar, Schenn, and Kravtsov. - Bo trade was good, I'd give it an A. That trade seemed to indicate that the team was willing to take a step back to stockpile on assets/picks. - Then Kravtsov deal was also good. Low risk but high reward. - Schenn deal was fair. I think he will be brought back. The fact that we play Toronto tomorrow and his baby expecting right about now... I'd say they sent him to Toronto after consulting him and that was deliberately done so to bring him back. - Lazar deal also good. He wasn't finding his role here as well as expected and we got a 4th round pick. - Then the Hronek deal. It sent a mixed signal. What is the plan? Are we entering a proper 2-year retool where we stockpile young players and develop them or going for playoffs next season? This deal affirmed that they will try to do both. Next up: 1. Trade Myers. 2. Trade Boeser or Garland (maybe both). 3. Figure out what to do with OEL. 4. Revamp the defence and upgrade bottom 6 with the cap space created. My guess is that they will run out of time and barely complete trade Myers and maybe trade Garland.

They really have no choice but to hang on to him until next tdl. Boeser will either need cap retention, cap coming back or a major sweetener. There's nothing to do with OEL. He has a NMC, but they won't be able to deal him anyway and buying him out is the idea worse than doing nothing today.
Strawbone
Wow I had to turn off 650 radio before I fell into Drance’s black hole of negativity, never to escape. He is 110% convinced that the team is doomed for all eternity after this trade deadline. He might be right, but it’s also possible that more good moves are coming over the summer, and that we’ll have a fun, playoff contending team next year. As a long time fan, I have to believe that’s a possibility.

I don't care how soft his sheets are, I don't want that. His adult children were trying to continue to receive monthly allowances, part of that stipulation was their schooling to which the adult children were trying to get into different schools than discussed and agreed upon between the parents and children. Context is everything. Know idea what his personal circumstances are or how they got to what is reported or rumored in the public eye. I have my own personal stuff to worry about and his personal life is not my business. Couldn't be any happier seeing him putting up all the money needed to run the Canucks though, there have been years where the future of the club in this city was in jeopardy. I am not taking the stability and already the most success by this franchise for granted while being owned by Aquilini. Highest winning percentage of any Canucks owner in the .560's, most banners and trophies under his ownership.

Clearly they didn't since they didn't. No offense, but I'm trusting someone who's job it is to come up with such plans more than I am a school teacher. Will it mean they do a good job or not? We'll see, but as far as I'm concerned, your opinion and a lot of other opinions are just noise at this point. Do I have my own concerns? Sure, but I'm willing to see what happens. 1

Malpractice. At this point We look to be even worse next season. F is the grade for this TDL just like most of the ones going back 10 years. yup I’m negative 40 years of following with the last 10 years being pure stupidity Has that effect. Long summers are the only thing this team is planning. 1
spook007
Remains to be seen if it was good/smart moves, or if it all come crumbling down.... But credit to the management for getting something we've needed in this organisation for ages... Now, if management wanted cap flexibility, they may not have as much as they wanted, but surely they have a plan.... I tend to believe, one of the most loaded front offices in the NHL, has an idea how to manage the cap better, than CDC posters... As for cap hell etc... the last 5 years of Benning we heard the same complaints.... That we would not be able to be cap compliant etc., and every year we were... (Mazed out as a bottom feeder is never a good thing, but let's see where we stand at the start of next season). It was always going to take at least 2 years to sort out the staff and salaries....
