If they want to get the most out of Rielly, they'd put him in the press box until he learns how to play defence.

Rielly is perfectly fine as a puck mover PP specialist, adding someone like Schenn would 100% be great move to pair with Rielly. Not every defenseman has to be a bland stay at home stalwart. Rielly is fine and absolutely an NHLer despite not being a great defender. Ludicrous to suggest otherwise.

Dream on.

Nobody wants Myers.

While he's not having a great season this is just factually incorrect, the issue we have here is OEL, Hughes and Myers play virtually the same way and outside Schenn we have literally no one else to defensively offset the other 2 of the 3. This is a case of a bad mix not necessarily bad players.

That's true.  I also wonder if Myers might need a strictly defensive LHD partner to work.  As much of a "big" defender has he is, he's still very much prone to rush up ice, so that leads to him being turnover prone, and given his height it's also easy for him to get deked off balance.  In the right team with a solid defensive structure I think he can very well be a strong RD if his partner is a lefty Tanev who would hang back and mop up, then he can help transition the puck to his teammates.

As for Hughes - Bear and OEL - Schenn, I think it's not great, but we'll have to make do with what we have, and those might be the best combos available (unless Burroughs somehow factors into the equation).

@King Heffy refuses to acknowledge the difference between offensive minded, puck moving dmen and stay at home defensive defensemen. Every high scoring offensive defenseman also has to be a shut down player all at the same time. Even though, for years and years the league has had both, and teams have both and played them together and have for decades but Heffy doesn't agree!
