I don't see the Islanders keeping their pick this season.  My guess is, its in the 18-20 range

They’ve played a lot more games than the teams behind them. Right now their winning percentage has them picking 13th overall. If one more team passes them winning percentage wise they keep their pick.

Way I see it we changed the culture of the team and got more pieces.

The RHD to run a PP was key moving forward.

A bit high price for me,but that is what at this time you must pay to get one and most teams will not trade a player like that.Si we got lucky to find one.

If we trade BB a mill retailed or so and get anything d cent it will be a home run this tdl.

Now we just have to hope the team comes together.

Our own 1st might get us the other RHD we need or Center.

We then only need Myers traded ,another LD and should be right ng for a playoff spot next year or year after.

The owner doesn't like rebuilding so far this looks good what we got as picks are never guaranteed.

Sub 40 points equals big pay day? Lol. Okay bud. This is by far his best season on a per game basis. He is a 40 point guy that has dabbled in injuries. He would be smart to take the first long term deal that comes his way. Which will be around 5mil per.

Dream on.

He was on pace for 52 points this season playing on both special teams. That gets a D man paid. He’s gonna get 7-8 mil.

I think they get in the wild card

Beauviller will be traded next year at the deadline and we probably get a 2nd rounder for him.  So the deal looks even better.

Also, we wouldn't be adding $5 million in cap next year because if we had kept Horvat his contract would be $8.5 million.  Hronek and Beau together is actually $400k less...

And with that EP, CDC gets accustomed to 4D chess.

Now let's get us some of that 5-D RD (Rachel Dorey) chess.

Where we build on the past, with the present, for the future.

Warp back to fix the 2022-23 season, and win the 2023-24 season, winning The Cup in multiple universes, every year prior and forever, etc.

It's not rocket appliances, just ask The Alien.

hard to pass judgement on this so early - I guess time will tell.  This is certainly not a rebuilding move and I think that is what this team needs most.

Amazing how many 2nds we've traded away over the years.

3 straight years without one. 2022, this year and 2024 (Dicky trade) plus so many other seasons before it. We really must hate drafting players like Demko and Hogs in the 2nd round to keep doing this. But hey this is our identity and culture of cutting corners and refusing to draft like a rebuilding team does. Refool on the fly all day everyday in the name of Aqualoonie

Yup. He needs to carry our second pairing. Can he carry OEL as well as Hughes carried Schenn?

I thought both OEL & Bear were playing their best during that stretch when Bear was acquired.

If Hronek can play with Hughes we might be okay.

no argument there.  Where were those balls last tdl?  They wouldn't be in this mess if they'd had the backbone to make these kinds of moves last year

Very possible that this (or a comparable ) deal was not available last year. Right-side defensmen (especially young ones) are so difficult to come by and you can't count on the draft to provide them. Between this and the Bear acquisition they are at least making a concerted effort to improve that part of the roster.

Why trade for Hronek if you then are trading Miller and Demko?  Makes no sense.  They are not rebuilding.  In fact, they will probably add 2-3 UFA's in the summer to fix the defence.  A Miller trade has a 0% chance of happening right now...

We will fix the defense with UFA's great plan!
