7-8mil? What the hell? In what world is he worth Ekblad, Carlson and Hughes money? You say some really outlandish sh*t, but yikes.

For an RFA contract with arbitration rights? Yeah 7-8 mil sounds right.

Last summer the islanders traded the 13th overall to the Canadiens for romanov. Hronek is a much better player. I wish it was a 2025 2nd rounder but I'll be happy if we can recoup a 2nd in this draft on a boeser trade.

that's debateable........different kind of dman too

Maybe a slight overvaluation of draft picks on this board? What we just picked up was a key piece in a full backend rebuild. That’s exciting…why?

because we don’t have to wait 2-3+ years to know what we have and if it’s even NHL caliber at that point.

Hronek is a known quantity and highly regarded. Our D needs revamp yesterday, not 3-4 years from now when our draft picks MIGHT be able to transition.

we still have picks to load the cupboard.

what we don’t have is an NHL defense. This is one big step forward over minimal draft odds. folks should be pleased about this because it’s a definitive need we’ve carried over multiple seasons now. It’s worth the trade.

Full marks to selecting those three, I was just curious what kind of trade he would of done. Would he have kept the pick or use the pick to get rid of a bad contract like he did with Loui

He’s have traded for Gudbranson again.

make the trade at the draft when those picks are at their highest value.  They don't need to add right now, it makes no sense to make ths trade at this point

Maybe.  I don't disagree.  But they saw an opportunity and took it.  That's how things work.  We will see if it was the right move or not.  Also, I believe more is coming, alot more.  So, we can't judge this move on its own until we see what else is coming...

No, it really doesn't. He's been a career 35 point guy. This year he would have barely hit 50 points if he played all 82 games. Which he has never done in his career.

Way I see it we changed the culture of the team and got more pieces.

The RHD to run a PP was key moving forward.

A bit high price for me,but that is what at this time you must pay to get one and most teams will not trade a player like that.Si we got lucky to find one.

If we trade BB a mill retailed or so and get anything d cent it will be a home run this tdl.

Now we just have to hope the team comes together.

Our own 1st might get us the other RHD we need or Center.

We then only need Myers traded ,another LD and should be right ng for a playoff spot next year or year after.

The owner doesn't like rebuilding so far this looks good what we got as picks are never guaranteed.

It’s the owner again, isn’t it?

I have noticed. I've also noticed that we are not making the playoffs so why make a huge move to improve the D right now?

Whether they do it now or in the summer the cost would likely be very similar. We have all been clamoring for them to improve the blueline for years now....and when we do it we get upset lol. The cost is the cost, whether we get a young RHD now or In the summer it would cost similar picks or assets....

Wonder if the next trade (Boeser or Miller) will bring back another D

Hughes - Hronek

? - Myers

OEL - Bear

Dermott - Burroughs

Brisebois - Juulsen

Wolanin

Who is playing defence on that pairing though?

It’s like running 5 forwards.

Hroneks not very good at defense fyi

Are you expecting them to acquire the perfect defenseman? If he was especially strong defensively he would have been unavailable or more expensive. He is suitable for the Canucks' purposes and as a young defenseman there is a tendency to retain value.

This trade feels like JR was napping on the couch and Alven took the keys to the car and wrapped it around a telephone pole.
