I like your lineup better. I don’t see Bear as a top 4 d man on a contending team. He has the ability to move up if needed. Camp could reveal some d-side surprises in the fall.

Unfortunately acquiring Livingstone is a huge part of improving the defence.  PA has to do whatever can

be done to get this kid signed.  I would be like acquiring another 1st round pick; probably top 10.

I like that PA is also interested in Livingstone's defensive partner (for the 3 seasons) Akito Hirose.  They

both played their Jr years in the BCHL and have had similar #s during their entire careers.  I notice that they were born just a week apart.  A nice pair of defensive bookends.  Get 'er done PA!!!!!!

Wouldn’t that be something to sign both. If McDonough signs it might help. Allvin going east and having dinner and a meeting with parents impresses thru the hockey community. We have to assume he is doing the same with other prospects.

For sure.  The work PA put into acquiring Kuzy has me feeling more positive about the Livingstone signing.  If he

has to offer up more than other teams, so be it.  If he can sign Livingstone, then I think can convince Hirose to

join the team.  This could be a huge game changer for the Canucks.

I'm not all that familiar with Livingstone but when I saw his stats and size and style, I was hooked but then I saw he was 24 and Dane Fox came immediately to mind.

Anyone else a bit worried that he put up those numbers because he's 24?

If he signs with us then not worried. He will be an awesome partner for Hughes. If he signs elsewhere he’s a bum who is at his ceiling. A bustaroo bonsais.

I hope you’re right and he buys out OEL this summer. Buy out Garland too if we can not trade the little feller.

I'd prefer to move Myers and give OEL a chance with a legit guy like Hronek, if he struggles next year by him out. We are 100% re-signing Bear, he's been great and is liked by Alvin and Tochett. I think if we don't get Livingstone, then I'd like them to target Severson or Mayfield, along with Gavrikov or Graves.

Cap can come from moving Garland who's redundant here we have a lot of good forwards thanks to Alvin and he would easily garner a late 1st or a pair of 2nds. PPG basically under Tochett all 5on5.

Then use a pick to unload Myers and if the cap really does go up by 4.5 million even better.

All I know I love what Alvin has done from Tochett,  to Kravstov and everything in between our D with as little as 1 move could become a strength for the first time in years.

Dane Fox was a forward, so is bound to score more points.  He only played at the ECHL level in NA and then

moved over to Europe.  Livingstone has been consistent with his stats during his 3yrs of college hockey.  It's

not just his stats; scouts describe him as having solid offensive and defensive skills.

I'm not saying he's another Adam Fox, but he might become a proficient 2nd pairing RD.  Works better than

overpaying an UFA or making a trade and losing picks/prospects.

I wonder if there's any kind of plan to move him at the deadline.  If he comes in and plays lights out and his next contract looks to be in the neighborhood of $7m x 7 years, his value at next deadline would be huge........that would be the ultimate buy low(ish) and sell at peak value.

Maybe not plan A, but I hope it's an option

Not only that but Dane Fox did most of his scoring as an overager playing with McDavid in the CHL, Livingston is playing against similar skilled/aged players in the NCAA

Considering how difficult it is to find quality RHD, that would be a truly ludicrous plan. Only an armchair GM would think that would make sense.

Your plan B, extend Myers? I want to at least see him in a game, before CDC decides they want to move him.

Why would they extend Myers?

I sure hope he'd be in the lineup by next tdl

Yup. 25 year old, puck moving, RSD, who is a top pairing guy. He will anchor our second pairing for the next 5-8 years. He will take some of the load off Hughes too.

And we have some fans wanting to trade him because he is a great young player who will deserve a 7 x 7 contract? Are these fans of our club or the team we would trade him too?
