[Rumour] Nikolay Goldobin eyeing NHL return

Recommended Posts

Hmm this one is interesting. Wow it's been 3 years. I don't think he was mature enough when he was here. He was a kid that was willing to put in work though. He hit the gym hard and took his lumps in the AHL. If nobody snaps him up I'd at least offer him a PTO. Pete liked playing with him too. Lots of kids struggle go back to the K then come back to the NHL grown men and have success.

36 points in 59 games ain't bad and 39 in 42 the year before is actually impressive, but as always, it will come down to work ethic for him. At 27, he's no longer the young kid and what he is now is what you're gonna get. If he works hard, he could probably be a solid middle six forward, but given his history, that's not a certainty.

How about Shirokov :o

Maybe we can coax Kirill Koltsov and Fedor Fedorov out of retirement as well? ;)

Jokes aside, Shirokov is surprisingly still a pretty decent player at 37. Probably a decade past any chance of him coming back over here, but he’s made a very nice career for himself in the KHL.

Who here watched him live?  His work ethic was poor and he was the definition of a seagull.

The guy got cut (not re-signed) from the Canucks at a time when we had a really poor team.

Absolutely not an NHL player.

Hard pass.
