[Proposal] Leafs - Canucks adding centre depth

Recommended Posts

I quite like Jarnkrok, we could have signed him last off-season so I'd be a bit hesitant in trading a young winger for him when there are probably similar guys on the UFA market this year as well. He did well for the Leafs last year but didn't play primarily center and got destroyed in the faceoff dot though, so doubt he'll be one of our main targets - we really need a good faceoff guy who can kill penalties. I don't mind taking someone who's a step back on offence for that role.

For that reason I quite like Kampf, 28 years old, very defensively-aware, mainly played on Toronto's 4th line but good at faceoffs and solid defensively, doesn't bring much scoring but a solid Motte-like guy who can play center. Surround him with gritty wingers like Garland and Hoglander and that's a pretty decent forechecking line, and he can surely be had cheaply (1-2M?).

I worry we'll target a guy like Barbashev, throw money at him and he'll be a great scoring center/winger but we need a penalty killer who can win faceoffs most importantly.

Leafs aren’t trading Kampf and Jarnkrok is the most realistic player to trade and get cap savings

Kampf is a UFA, not sure if Toronto can possibly re-sign all their guys, they've got to decide on Kerfoot too.

Yes I like your post.. We need Gritty D man like  Graves 6'5, 225  and 3rd line C like Jankrok 31, 5'11.

last season GP 73  - G 20 - PtS 39  - 3yrs X 2.1 million -- Not sure if Leafs trade him?

We have so many wingers and need to focus on Gritty stay at home D man especially one to play with Hughes..

1. Hughes LD top 10 ---  _________Need stay at home guy to play beside him.. Bear 6'0 / Juulson 6'2

2.. OEL  bounce back wasn't healthy last season ----- Hronek RD  -23-25 mins PK- PP Very good solid D man Top end play

3.Myers-- Might be moved after bonus is paid?  Wolanin LD--- Brisebois LD -- Rathbone LD --Hirose LD ///

RD Julsson 6'2 -- Johansson 6'1 - Woo 6'0 - McWard 6'2

Not sure how much longer Rathbone will be around? I do like the prospect..

Assuming Myers is on 3rd pairing our presumptive top 4 is teeny tiny. OEL if he is playing is the only one over 6 foot.
Hronek plays a fairly tough game but doesn’t have a large frame, Bear and Hughes are both small.
Then coming we have more smallish D in Boner, Hirose.  Tough as he plays I do wonder if we bring Burroughs back because we are so small on D and wing.
At some point we need to add some size.

Kampf would be a great pickup as a UFA, if at all possible (Leafs will attempt to re-sign him).  Whoever plays

the 3C role needs to be a tough defender, as he will likely have young wingers to work with.
