I don’t see Tarasenko putting the Sens ahead of the Leafs but when Matthews leaves as a UFA July 1, 2024 then the Sens will for sure overtake the Leafs. So if not this year, with the Tank, then for sure next year.

Ottawa has actual NHLers on their blueline and their forward group isn't buttery soft.

Looking forward to watching some Sens games this year. They may be able to snag a wildcard spot

Ottawa was looking last off season as a team that might compete for a Wildcard.

Then they lost Josh Norris, presumably their top C, for the year.  Stutzle looked great, but how well Norris comes back off injury is much more critical as to how well they do! 6'2'' 200lbs...

Imo they have a better defensive unit than us. They don't have a franchise altering dman, but overall a better unit.

Hughes- Cole

Soucy - Hronek

Brisebois - Myers

Chabot - Chychrun

Sanderson - Zub

Brannstrom- Hamonic

They have chabot and chychrun who are 2 #1 dmen.  Id take their defense over ours anyday.

Finally something happened. Been too quiet for too long. Good move by Ottawa.

I hope they make the playoffs, along with us of course!

We have nowhere near a playoff team right now.

You’re wrong. We do. We had one last year too but the team was in complete disarray in its ability to play defensive hockey and being able to kill a penalty. Now that’s all sorted out with this coaching, structure and PK specialists.

The RT demand on these players being in top shape at the start of the season is also key. There will be no more games thrown away in the first quarter of the season.

Canucks will place in the top 3 of the Pacific.

With journeyman 35 yr old ian cole as our top pairing dman and no 3c?   With miller, a natural lwer as our 2c?  The team is missing pieces.  We keep saying the same thing every year then when we stink up the joint we make excuses up.  The team still needs a few big pieces to compete with the teams out west.

Cole is a good defenceman. He played top 4 minutes in Tampa and plays a heavy game. Good on the PK too.

JT played well as a centre.

Seems to me that you’re the one making excuses for the Canucks to fail.

Cole is a 6th dman at best on a contending team.  If youre expecting him to be a top pair dman youre already admitting yourself this team isnt good enough.

I dont need to make excuses-  the fans here do a good enough of job of it when we miss out every year.

The team as it stands isnt good enough to win over the course of an 82 game schedule nor does it have the quality depth needed to withstand injuries to key players.
