Cole is a 6th dman at best on a contending team.  If youre expecting him to be a top pair dman youre already admitting yourself this team isnt good enough.

I dont need to make excuses-  the fans here do a good enough of job of it when we miss out every year.

The team as it stands isnt good enough to win over the course of an 82 game schedule nor does it have the quality depth needed to withstand injuries to key players.

Like I said. Cole played top 4 minutes in Tampa. A contending team.

Everyone expected last years lineup to make the playoffs. This team has since improved its structure, coaching and personnel.

I’ll only give you the part of injuries to the centre position. If Petey or JT go down, this team is in tough as Bleuger is not a top 6 centre.

Am I missing something?

They have under $900,000 to sign 3 forwards, (Two are RFA's) and a backup goalie.

Aren't they going to have to move someone or are players going to be put on LTIR and they will be fine?

They already have their backup goalie signed in Anton Forsberg.  CapFriendly keeps players on IR as long as the team doesn't announce them cleared to play to central registry and don't count them towards the playing roster.  Players on IR/LTIR count towards the cap - ie cap figures are correct but not roster size if a team has players on IR/LTIR.

Garrioch was on TSN saying that they'll probably try and move a winger before the start of the season.

They could also go with a reduced roster - minimum is 20.

Yep.

And all that really matters is if he finds chemistry with one of our other guys playing top 4.

Nobody thought Schenn was a top 4 anymore and yet he played top 4 here and in Toronto (a contender).

You’re wrong. We do. We had one last year too but the team was in complete disarray in its ability to play defensive hockey and being able to kill a penalty. Now that’s all sorted out with this coaching, structure and PK specialists.

The RT demand on these players being in top shape at the start of the season is also key. There will be no more games thrown away in the first quarter of the season.

Canucks will place in the top 3 of the Pacific.

This is an uncommon take, but I agree we’re a playoff team (top 3 would be great).

This roster has offence to spare, and could easily win another 8-10 games with a healthy Demko plus a league-average defence and PK.

The early season blown leads cost us confidence, and dug us a big hole early. I expect a better start this year.

Correct, so they actually have 20 players on their roster with $895k in cap space. This is probably enough space to resign Pinto (although he's worth much more, his status as a 10.2(c) player means no one can offer sheet him and there's no arbitration). This brings them to 21 players. They can roll a 21-man roster, but they will probably try and get rid of Joseph if they can, as he has been a disappointment for them.

Cole was 80th in the league for time on ice last year among defenceman… I’ll let you do the math on whether that makes him a #6 :picard:

COULD be a great signing for this price, if he decides to play like he did in his early Blues career.

You bet.    Also ... well who'd you rather have?   Brock at his cap hit or Garland at his?  Or Beau....so.   Let's see how he does playing for a contract with the Sens.   It's likely a good deal for them and for Tarasenko.

We have lots of good Canuck fans who are still suffering from PTBD. We have great management now. Much like the great Gillis years this new management will fin players (for good deals) to help us win. Cole is going to help our club win. That’s got certain.

They have chabot and chychrun who are 2 #1 dmen.  Id take their defense over ours anyday.

Dude.  I watch a lot of Sens hockey, you're doing us a little dirty.    Chabot is prone to gaffes.   Chychrun he's a stud though.   So far anyways.

Brock, then New Beau, then Tarasenko. Garland is a Benning stain. He needs to be cleaned off.

Ian Cole was in Tampa's top 4 last year, played 19:23 per night and was on the top penalty killing unit, playing almost 226 minutes on the PK.  Cole was literally one of the top penalty killing Dmen in the entire NHL last year.  Cole and Erik Cernak were Tampa's top penalty killing Dmen.  This is the main reason we acquired him.
