Balance as all things should be [Proposal]

Recommended Posts

Brock is staying bless him we(Fans) love him the team loves him. Garland is a new-age pest he puts us on the PP a ton gets under people's skin the "Canuck way". Imagine him on the 2011 team on Kes/Hansen flank with a proper bottom 6. So that leaves Beau who by all rights is a good player but on this team is unfortunately redundant and as such doesn't hold much value.

To Nash Anthony Beauvellier

To Van Cole Smith + 6th Dallas

Nashville could use a lil more scoring punch in their top 9 Beau might just fit there like a glove good all round utility player. We clear some cap and add a special teams specialist to beef up our bottom 6. He's big hits a ton forechecks hard plays net front on the PP. PK's well enough and can gaud some skill players like Miller into fisticuffs. He and Dakota would really add some dimension to our bottom 6 and be able to step up occasionally to take the odd shift riding shotty with Pete/Miller as a net-front presence.

Sure we trade a legit top 9 player for a grinder but Smith is a hell of a grinder who would add some grit and clear a much needed 3.375M

I feel like they def need to add the pick as they certainly win his trade 1 for 1.

Kuzz Pete Brock

Mikheyev Miller Garland

Hog Beluger Podkolzin

Dakota Aman Smith

Our bottom 6 has some dimension to it and can roll on a regular shift. I would still love to bring Lammiko back too.

care to elaborate?

Smith

SCOUTING REPORT

A late-blooming, undrafted forward, he did not begin his collegiate career until he was 20 but has parleyed grit and a willingness to do the dirty work teams need into an NHL opportunity. He is a big, annoying forechecker who will get to the front of the net and screen netminders. He gets into passing lanes well, is adept at forcing turnovers and can kill penalties.

Smith put up 11 goals expected drew 60 pims 198 hits playing a solid 879 mins in 69 games with very good underlying defensive numbers.

solid proposal, well done.

Love the idea of trading a redundant skilled winger for a big, solid bottom 6 PKer on a less efficient contract. Nashville lost significant offence, and one year of Beau takes a little pressure off their youth (e.g. Evangelista) while not blocking their path.

@Bob.Loblaw How do his analytics look?

As advertised.  He knows his job and does it well:

Could contain: Text, Adult, Male, Man, Person, Number, Symbol

His offense brings him down but that doesn't matter.  I don't think Beauvillier commands a lot of trade value so I'd be fine if we got Smith and a late pick for him.  As for other defensive bruisers on the market, ZAR is still unsigned:

I would be fine with adding Reese. We still need to clear cap somehow and a top 9 roster spot for Hoglander. I really hope MGMT has a plan to make this team less pillowy soft.

Edit: corrected my error.

Cole Smith played one year with Boeser at North Dakota.  Poolman also played with Boeser, but that didn't work out too well.

I'd be good with a Beau for Smith trade.  Smith can play on the 4th line and kill penalties.  Mikheyev is probably gonna play with Petey and Kuzy so there really isn't room for Beau...

So trade for another winger?

Maybe another center would be better to trade for, or a big RDH for QH.

Myers,Beauvellier and Rathbone plus 6th rounder

To Boston for

Carlo and a 4th or 5th

How will Boston fit that under their cap? Also Carlo bringing back an overpriced RD, a middle 6 winger and a c+ prospect for Carlo who is on a good contract and is a good #4 defensive RD seems like a bad trade for them. They could easily get more for Carlo I would guess.

In terms of Beau, I'd be fine with the trade proposed here. But if it is easier to just trade him for a late 2nd to a contender at 50% retained then sign someone like Reese for essentially the same purpose would also work.

Heck, too bad he's not a grinder or we could get an entire draft class out of him like TB gave NSH.     Replace late second with a 4th or 5th rounder is the most likely scenario.    What did we get for Vanek again ... after 50 plus points?   We won't be getting much of anything for Beau, he was the cap dump part of the Horvat trade.     Not that he's useless, hoping for the best, but not expecting much either.   3rd line role and he's as soft as butter ...
