It's basically been an open secret for years, media folks would troll the forum for article material, ideas, and stances

We did a lot of their work for them

You knew it, a lot of us did

There would be discussion and articles mirroring said discussion would pop up

Wishing you the best

Executives, management, and ownership out of touch with their source of income, the fanbase, shocker

I don't think Drance has ever had an original thought in his entire repertoire. I'd imagine we write more than 50% of the media driven material here. I really miss real journalism.

At times, senior team executives would push to shut down the message boards because they’d come across a thread critical of the team, but the team’s digital staff always pushed back, saying that the community it provided, shown in the high number of page views, brought the team far more overall value, added Ryan Nicholas, who worked alongside Kinghorn and Ribble from 2013 to 2020.

Yea makes no sense.

What happened was FA came on here and didn't like seeing what the critics thought of the team, his personal business dealings,  and family drama.

All of that exists on all forms of media, from newspapers to comment sections to Twitter to Facebook to radio show call-ins. Some of which he owns as well.

So why would he target one obscure medium in the internet forum? Plus this forum has never been a big free for all on Aquilini slander.

what happened was NHL restructuring of their website, want to add more modern features like the stats overhaul they have been doing, server costs are going up and they have likely been instructed to cut costs, fair chunk of traffic is here and likely substantial size due to all the posts and media still on this forum, CDC cut.

I've been a daily visitor for many years, and enjoyed the game day threads and predict the score in recent years.

I spent the last 3 days in bed with covid, and just starting to feel better. Show up here to see what's new.. and find this :(

See you on the other side.

It 's just more work and more $ than they think is worthwhile for them.  The simplest explanation is uaully the correct one.

That makes literally no sense.

The costs of hosting the official website exist regardless if there's an early 2000's era forum attached to it or not. Plus it was run by voulenteers.

And it also makes no sense that it was shut down because of Aquilini slander. That will exist regardless. As we see with the cloned forum.

Only logical explanation is legal

So they're cheap and lazy?

I can believe it.

Ah yes. The forum costs so much to run that the voulenteers that were running it cloned it overnight and are going to host it themselves.

And not only that , places like HF boards are profitable

Ah yes. Because website owners can be liable for what gets posted on their site = Aquilini conspiracy theory.

I'd say the NHL would be more on the hook than Aquilini
