Contact IRCC and obtain a PR application number and then you’ll be hot to trot on the new forum.

I reside in Ottawa. Smothered by Sens Habs and Laughs news. Finding out that CDC is shutting down is nothing short or a mystery.

I will still be a die hard fan. Media is very biased over here. I have had many good chuckles at the forced content from the Media.

I enlisted here to get the facts or rumours that surround our team.

new forum at https://www.forumcanucks.com/ (soon to likely be https://www.canucksfanforum.com). The structure mostly follows what is here to make moving over simple and easy, but of course it is open to suggestion and change. I'll keep it going as long as possible.

This place is the messaging forum equivalent of the TV show "Cheers". "Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name". This place isn't a message board it's a community.

 

Disbanding it because they don't like criticism is such a d*ck move. At times being a Canucks fan feels like being in an abusive relationship. This is one of those times.

No. It couldn't have been about operating cost since the website is hosted anyway. 

 

They were probably worried about libel and legal issues that could arise in the future. Maybe it was the Rachel Dorrier thread. It doesn't look good for a Canucks sports and entertainment owned forum to be hosting a platform that is being used to talk about her. Which could be used in a libel case vs the company

A great forum been coming back for over a decade now I think. 

 

All the best to everyone and hopefully this team pulls off a championship someday! 

 

Also are a bunch of people heading over to https://www.forumcanucks.com/ ? It would be great to keep this community going, but I know that a forum closure can result in a lot of people heading off or just splitting up to different areas online.

My profile tells me I’ve been around t CDC for 18+ years. Sad to see it go. 
 

Sometimes I hoped CDC would be offline during the summer as things got pretty messy then, with all the fans having no action but I’m sure going to miss this place. Even with the new one in place.

Thin skinned executives here and at league offices, eastern media moguls, and butt hurt media critics all ganged up on one Canuck forum. Who else did they shut down? Everyone wants to control the narrative, but we do that for ourselves in our forum. To Bettman et al your loss not ours.

Okay, so was a generally productive call with Terry, he's the Chief Revenue Officer for the Canucks business side of the organization. 

 

Generally, this is action of shutting down the forum is coming from Marketing as they only see about 500 fans actively posting every month. I've addressed that in a follow up email to them which I'll post shortly. The Canucks Marketing team meets every Tuesday morning and the Canucks forum WILL be on tomorrow's meeting agenda. 

 

Some of the concerns that they have within the organization is the amount of negative messaging and even some stuff that they consider racist. This has been creating negative feedback and issues within the season ticket base as well as their advertiser community. I told him that there was always going to be some of that, but that the moderators within this board do an excellent job overall of policing that as do some of the other fans at calling out people who are pushing over a line.

 

Here's a screenshot of the email that I just sent back to both Michael and Terry. I'm presenting all information back to the base here as, this is the level of engagement and active feedback that I feel should have been coming directly from the team for some time and I told Terry as much.

 

 

No guarantees, but I've asked them directly to open the door and let us (ALL OF US) be a part of the discussion and find a way to evolve the forum into a model for the rest of the league.
