  1. The musical chairs continue and Vancouver is one of a few teams left with cap room. Vegas is a "Have Not" in that regard. along with a lot of other teams. This is where I thought Benning would come out on top and he did not disappoint. I understand there are RFA's to be signed but there are also trades to be made.
  2. Anything you may want to add to this considering the trade which recently went down?
  3. He's up there, for sure. I'd say third at this point. Edler, Hughes, Schmidt. EASILY replaces Tanev, WADR.
  4. How any Canuck fan could complain about this trade...I dunno. Slam dunk IMHO. Haters gonna hate.
  5. Remind Pietrangelo to wear a lanyard when he plays the Canucks (a la Motte) too: Motte Shorty
  6. Totally hyperbole...but if they were you could imagine the ire raised. The fact remains that not signing a FREE AGENT by Canucks management has resulted in this blow up is laughable. There's a plan. People just need to remain calm and have faith in those in the position to make the actual decisions know what it takes to take this current roster to the next level will do so.
  7. I can't remember when I've seen such an epic meltdown of CDC. Maybe when Bure was dealt?
  8. Was there a rumor that the Canucks would land Miller when that trade took place?
  9. Sutter was signed in 2016. Toffoli today. There was no flat cap or pandemic four years ago. It should also be (and has been) noted there are prospects which should be prepared to take this roster spot. I'm fairly certain because of the Canucks prospects ready that term was the sticking point here. The NT/MC is absolutely a valid point but I believe it all comes down to term and prospects ready to take this position.
  10. Appears pretty obvious, to me anyway, that Benning was not comfortable with the term. I'm going to guess if TT would have agreed to two years he'd still be a Canuck.
  11. With the players knocking on the door you really cannot blame him.
  12. This is all due to hindsight. Benning does not want to overspend in either dollars or term at this point. Hence, good players walk. Yes, it's that simple.
  13. Pick and a prospect to start, for sure. That top six (Pearson aside) is certainly drool worthy and would be very difficult to contain. Hopefully Hoglander can make an impact with regards to Pearson's spot. Solid depth. *Hoglander Gallagher Horvat = HGH
  14. Absolutely. Doubt he's the guy Bergevin moves but stranger things have happened...especially to/from Montreal. Gallagher with the Giants was a treat to watch and he's only become better.
  15. Good point. Montreal will certainly need to make a move according to CapFriendly.
  16. Losing a top six opens the door to at least one of Hoglander/Putsgoalsin to step up. I also strongly believe there's a trade in the works for a a RHD. If not trade, signing. Attracting good players has nothing at all to do with the current economic environment. It's up to the player(s) to decide their destination and role on that team. If players want to come to Vancouver and be a part of the uptick here, they'll either accept what's offered or go somewhere else for a more prominent role or more money/term. There's nothing Benning can control from that aspect. The "sky is falling/fire Benning" crowd is entertaining (I don't mean you in particular). There's plenty of time between now and training camp. Patience is key.
  17. Once his current season in the KHL is over...Covid permitting (of course). Hoglander should certainly be attending camp when it begins.
  18. Canuck Nation birds eye view: This is fascinating to watch/read really.
