I have lurked on these boards, regularly, for about 10 years. I was finally driven to create an account today by the absolutely absurd comments in this thread. Somehow, Virtanen has managed to bring out the worst in CDC. And all the pontificating is ultimately meaningless and absurd.
The fact is NOBODY KNOWS HOW VIRTANEN'S CAREER WILL TURN OUT at this point. He may become a first line winger. He may top out as an average 3rd liner. He may even wash out of the league at an early age. NONE OF US KNOWS. So, what exactly is the point of arguing about who is right and wrong and getting personal about it?? He was decent in his first pro season. He didn't have the greatest season last year. His play has been encouraging in this pre-season. His progress this year remains to be seen.
So why why why not just watch him play and try to enjoy the experience of being a fan? The unexpected is one of the things that makes sports worth watching. Nobody on these boards is being paid to predict what Virtanen will become. Your opinion simply doesn't matter. So, by all means, form an opinion but please don't get your ego so wrapped up in it that you make other people miserable.
