I love it but why every year at the end? They suck at the beginning then they play lights out at the end of the year. Three years in a row. You tell me why some might be annoyed?
IDK. IDC. Let's talk about it tomorrow

If you dont love watching your favorite players make amazing plays against one of your most hated rivals then there's something wrong with you

Friendly reminder, the Canucks are the 6th Worst team in the entire league. We’re nowhere near being a playoff contender Nevermind a cup contender. Please help me make sense of this trade.
Sure. Petey and Hughes are nearing their mid 20s. They are the core, and the time to build around them is now. Hronek fits that timeline, being 25. If not, then trade P&H and go full rebuild. RHD is a position they desperately needed to fill. They did that with this trade.

If you truly want a rebuild, then you probably need to trade Demko, and one of Hughes or Pettersson. Which one do you choose?
-
If we think that the core to build around is Petterson and Hughes, then this trade fits that timeline. If a full rebuild is what we need, this trade was a mistake. I’m with the former. You?

They also gave Kratsov 4 minutes in the third. Hughes played an incredible amount of minutes and for what? They played that top line like crazy. Ratu sitting. Ya they sure are trying.
Tanking is management’s game and Alvin’s doing a helluva job giving Tocchet that roster. That’s NOT an nhl roster, and they greatly exceeded expectations tonight. Good for them.

Exactly but everyone continues to say its fine. How many years of the same thing do we have to go through before people get it. This is what happens when an organization continues to not want to bottom out. They want to remain being competitive and the fans get screwed out of a top pick every year and we remain mediocre. It's not rocket science people. I think we have had enough evidence of how it's not working.
Did you see the line up they iced tonight?

Overall, I see hard workers paired with players we’d like to see get going: hard workers with Boeser, hard workers with Miller, hard worker with OEL

Okay, another question. If Boudreau was the wrong coach for them, why did they resign him at the end of the season? If this was the actual issue, why not change the coach when they had every opportunity over the summer? I get that we had a good run last season, but the decision was still in management's hands at the time and the whole reason why Bruce is here this season is NOT because of ownership's hiring but because of management's resigning.
As far as management micromanaging, please don't get me wrong: I don't like ownership at the moment and I've mentioned that I think they're part of the reason why we're in this mess in the first place. However, I also kind of think your scenario's unlikely given the risk of tensions as I have mentioned. Like I said, if what you're saying is true, we're in for a bad time moving forward. I don't think your scenario gets you the results you think it will. Remember, this is the same ownership that made Linden walk away afterall.
1. I think they probably thought it was impossible to let go/fire/ not re-sign a coach who pulled off what BB pulled off last season. The blowback would’ve been as intense as it is now. They had to wait until the owners plan had completely failed.
2. Agree to disagree

I have questions about this:
1. What exactly is the mistake here: the actual choosing of Boudeau himself or just ownership hiring a coach before changing management? In your mind, would this be against Boudreau himself or just the general idea of management making a management decision?
2. If this is to "put the ownership in place", does that actually make things better or does it just create tension at that point?
I know you mentioned it's a "dumb theory", but I figure it doesn't hurt to ask questions about it. Personally, I hope you're wrong, because I think it would mean there would be more drama in the future since there would then be tensions between management and ownership. That's a terrible scenario to have.
1. Ownership choosing the coach. It completely pulled the rug out from under management. They couldn’t begin to put their plan into place.
2. My hope is that it tells ownership to back off and stop micromanaging.- 1

Pretty much what I was thinking (or hoping).
Now they’ve got their guy, and they seem to have the green light for buyouts.
There should be no more excuses now. Time to put their stamp on the team.
Exactly. No more excuses now

There is a difference between how fans react to players and amanagement and how professional organizations treat its own people.
If we weren’t talking about millionaires my opinion might change. I very much want to see workers treated with respect by corporations. Less empathy in this instance tbh.
But sure there’s a difference. But it’s also about human decency and respect. Was Sea of Granlunds not an absolutely dick move?

I find it hilarious how many media members are crying about BB’s treatment when this is the same media that invents humiliating and degrading phrases like “sea of Granlunds” “little things Loui” and “chaos Giraffe”.
This is obviously a tough industry. Your performance is constantly judged by your coworkers, bosses and fans. It’s not for the thin skinned.
But for the media (and lots of fans) to start talking about respect now, after the countless mean memes and jokes about everything from Willie Desjardins to Sleepy Jim, and every Megna joke in between, is laughably hypocritical.

Here’s my dumb theory:
Aqualini got management in this mess by hiring Boudreau before JR. BB was never managements coach. He was the owner’s coach and that obviously frustrated JR.
I think this public firing, this airing of dirty laundry, might be a way of putting the owner in his place. The owner is being shown, very publicly, how bad his mistake was and what the consequences are of meddling.
At least I hope so. I’m excited for this new chapter and the future. GCG
