That's great news! Tryamkin won't be playing Saturday though, as Coach Desjardins says that's highly unlikely.

Did you watch the videos on the front page? I tend to agree with Silly Goose, they are trying to settle the hype down, so there isn't such high expectations on this young kid.

  2. From the videos on the front page it didn't sound like Willie or Henrik thought he was very impressive in his first practice. Could just be tough love though. Henrik mentions to "Not hype him up" and "Hes not the next Pronger".

    Hope he does well!

He has put up points but too many nights he looks like a spectator out there and not someone who is driving the play. I think it is safe to say that Gaunce's best shot at making the Canucks right now is in a bottom 6 role where he not only have to play well defensively but he needs to bring energy and bring it every shift.  That energy is just not there from night to night. He needs to play at the same level that he does when being inserting back into the line up after Green makes him a healthy scratch or after being demoted to the 4th line.

He is a second year pro now and should understand the grind that playing hockey for a living is all about. Time to kick it up a notch. AHL plugs like Hamilton, Bancks and Archibald play hard every night because they are playing for a paycheck and want to continue their dreams. First rounders like Gaunce try to get by on their skills and rest on their laurels from juniors and forget about hard work. They should be even more driven to get to the next level for the bigger paychecks, nice meals and chartered jets and leave the bus rides for the less talented but harder working AHL lifers.

He shouldn't want to turn into the next Nick Jensen who didn't make it on skill alone and also didn't play with the fire needed to play in the NHL in a bottom 6 role. That got Jensen traded for someone else's project.

I would agree Gaunce's best shot is in the Canucks bottom 6 right now. I don't think he has been a healthy scratch under Travis this year. He has been injured. He is a second year pro, you don't bench a guy who is 2nd in points per game.

Jensen thought he could get by on all offense, Gaunce is not following those footsteps at all. He is more defensively responsible, and at this point, appears to have more offensive output, in less time.

Hamilton, Bancks and Archibald are all AHL lifers because they are 25+ years old and never put up 25 points in the AHL. Gaunce put up 29 in his first season.

I just look at our left wing and center positions right now and think "Why not?"

Kenins didn't exactly have a lot of fire in the belly, hes been given a lot of chances. (He played well in his last game)

    Should I bring up Higgins?

Prust has 0 points and 2 majors in the last 11 games.

Vey is small and wasting an NHL spot on our 2nd PP.

Gaunce played for the Comets last night so this is probably an error. I know a lot of Vancouver posters are anxious to see Gaunce called up but he needs to start playing with more consistency here before he is ready for the next step.  The effort level is just not there every night. Needs to step it up and play hard every night and not be outplayed by AHL plugs and PTOs. The fire just is not there.

18 points in 23 games is pretty consistent, hes a plus player and leads his team with 2 SHG to boot. Seems like a defensively responsible guy that can chip in.

I mean Vey was in the AHL, he got 26 games, a minus player, with only 15 points, 2 points were on the power play. I am not sure about his fire, and hes up with the team.

And then there were countless Toronto fans calling him gutless LOL. There were some soft calls in that game

Virts gotta learn to shut his mouth and play. There are gonna be soft calls. Do you think they will stop if he pouts about it? It's just embarrassing as a fan.

  6. I just saw a couple of movies

House of a thousand corpses (6.1/10) Gory and all, a terrifying idea, but sometimes it kind of took a left turn and kind of seemed "random".

I just saw Oculus last night. (7/10) There is a bit more of a story going on, you never know what is real and what isn't. Fun to watch, decent ending.

The Conjuring (8/10) they really set up the Annabelle sequel well in this one. I liked the film overall.
