I'm sad seeing this drag out like this. Such good memories/feelings about this place and now it's just a  run down derelict old house that's been boarded up. Someone's former home in a state of complete disrepair. Cold, empty and just waiting to be knocked down. *sigh*

So does that mean those of us who still check in here are squatters?

  2. I don't comment in general anymore and haven't said anything re: the forum shutdown.  But that's because the transition to the new forum has been practically seamless with most of the regulars having made the migration.  And with pretty much everyone there already, there wasn't need to say "goodbye".

We're not losing anything with this forum; I can't remember who posted it on the new forum, but someone pointed out that it's WE, the membership, that make the actual forum community, and now we have our new home, one without the onerous landlords.

IMO, there's no need to campaign to save this place.  This is just an (internet) address that will be vacant/demolished soon.  The community and its spirit lives on in it's new home.

I'm just not sure he'll get the opportunity under Bruce.  Boudreau doesn't have the same issue with blatant nepotism as Green did, but all coaches have their favorites along with a doghouse.  When you see useless trash like Petan playing instead of Hoglander, dots get connected.

What?  I thought Petan only drew into the lineup because Hogs was on IR.

I guess we will see how much Curtis Sanford learned from Ian Clark.

Won't help.  The Caps had a pretty good goalie coach--almost parallel to Sanford, in that he was the student of Mitch Korn.  Much of Samsonov's problems are in-between the ears and I don't think he's coachable.  The Caps gave him every opportunity to become their #1 and he didn't take it.  Hell, I even recall once the Caps radio PxP guy ripped into his lack of focus and desire in the middle of a game after one of his many dismal performances.

Seriously, Samsonov is total garbage and not an NHL goalie.  And I'm ecstatic that he now plays for the Leafs.

Really? They lost Kase and Mikayev today. Their D did not improve, they signed a barely average backup. How the F did they win the day and we lost the day. We got tougher to play against, faster, bigger. F off. Its why we hate the Leafs.

LOL, I actually found that article online.  The writer clearly doesn't have a clue who Ilya Samsonov is because that was his basis for declaring the Leafs a "winner" in free agency.  According to him, the Murray/Samsonov tandem will be better than Campbell/Mrazek.  He's in for a cruel dose of reality when he actually sees Samsonov in a game.

As for why the Canucks were "losers": guy only said the Canucks didn't move Miller and in his opinion, the Canucks roster is not a playoff team.

So yeah, this guy doesn't know WTF he's talking about.

I wonder what it would take for us to get him as a backup/project?  Having a year or two with Ian Clark could jump start his career?

His numbers weren't awful last year, he won a lot of games, and the West is far weaker than the East right now.

He's not a reclamation project I'd recommend.  He's kinda like a fancy house built on a poor foundation:  On one hand, he's very athletic and has the physical ability to make an unbelievable save; OTOH, his fundamentals are so poor that he consistently and regularly gives up really weak goals, sometimes from distance.  His work ethic isn't outstanding either--I'd heard that his ex-partner Vanacek frequently put in extra time while Samsonov did not.

Buyer beware for any team that signs him.

Crazy how many bad decisions Philly makes year after year. Even though some like this is bad luck. Goes back to literally every UFA signing they do, Terrible trades and terrible signings lol

Must be fun to be a pens fan. Watch Philly sign Malkin lol

I have close friends in Philly and even just watching the Flyers from afar through them is painful.  I mean, there's been talk in the past about EDM alumni hindering and interfering with the team, but the Flyers alumni are even more meddlesome--they were the driving force behind ousting Hextall as PHI GM and bringing in Fletcher, who's been an unmitgated disaster from the word 'go'.

If you think the Canucks fanbase is rife with negativity, it pales to the current mood of Flyers fans.  But Flyers fans have every reason to be that negative with what's going on with their team.

Yep- missed-it,  I've probably only seen 6 hours between all the movies.

I'm not big on serial style movies, that start out of sequence.

Simply can not see the point of watching the newish "Han Solo" why waste time when you know he and Chewie live through every thing that happens?

Same thing when they film and release the middle episodes before the beginning.

    Complete lack of suspense.

I get you, but when the first movie came out back in the 70s, I saw it three times in the theatres and several more times when it was featured when movie channels first started.  By the time, the original trilogy finished, I was already getting too old for it and was definitely too old for the prequels when they came out.

But still, I think for a lot of people from my generation, the first movie was a very memorable (and easily quotable) cultural event from our childhoods
