I wonder if Minnesota would trade Granlund now that they have Staal, or would they just slide Coyle to the wing?

If not Why not have the Granlund brothers here? Heck if they liked Marcus surely they like the more offense Mikael? Issue would be we have quite a few C.

Does anyone know if Mikael has played any wing at the NHL level?

No but Markus would slide to the left. Virtanen or Etem Grinding to get those danglers the puck. Its why Vey played suprisingly well with them. Or Granlund Granlund Rodin could be a great line

  2. Here is a list of some LW/C that JB could be going after. I went through all the teams cuz im a loser, and chose guys I think we would like, but also: had an off-year, their teams tight on cap, they signed similar player, too many at the position, or just that their young and are starting out well, so JB will want to get them

Andrew Cogliano, Zengus Girgensons, Marcus Foligno, Joakim Nordstrom, John Mitchell, Matt Calvert, Mattias Janmark, Antoine Roussel, Dwight King, Jason Zucker, Tommy Wingels, Matt Nieto, Cedric Paquette, Leo Komarov, Adam Lowry

Another one that doesnt really fit what we are in need of, but I feel may get moved, is Mikael Granlund. With Staal, Coyle and Koivu now as the top 3 centre's, I think that should spell the end for Granlunds frustrating up and down time in Minnesota. I can see him moved for a dman and/or winger.

  3. Why do so many people think we will get Hartnell. I love him too, but we could have got a younger Brouwer for free if he wanted. NMC is a deal killer. On top of Sedin Sedin Eriksson Hansen Sutter Baertschi, at least one of Rodin Granlund Gaunce Etem or this new guy we get, will rip it up this year and force us to protect them. With Hartnell in, we risk losing all of those guys. The guy we get will likely be more of a helm type. 10-15 goals, fast, two-way, kills penalties, LW/C, makes under 3 mil, not 34 yrs old. He will likely check opposition 1st line with Sutter and Hansen. Baertschi shouldnt be that guy. Him, Horvat and Rodin/Etem/Virtanen should be given more offensive zone starts.

You guys think its possible he has plans to put Granlund over at LW, and acquires a very good 4th line centre that brings what Richardson did? I think ideally he brings in a guy who can play BOTH C or LW like Granlund. Granlund plays better at centre, but his faceoffs are worse then Vey and McCann

  4. Wow Samuelsson. Totally forgot. Man he was great in his first playoffs here. Too bad Vrbata didnt have heart like that. I honestly believe he didnt give a fack about anything or anyone. Purposely shat the bed and gave a list of non playoff teams. Its why I think we can compete for wildcard this year. 3 weeks before deadline, we were right there before Wild and Avs pulled away. Injuries, McCann n Vey playing top 6, depleted D, Weber Biega Hutton and Bartkowski was the top 4. Dorsett Prust and Hank injured all year. Sutter missing. Vrbata's effort. I think we will be pushing LA and Edmonton for 3rd, and ultimately finish in a Wildcard or just outside, 7, 8, 9, 10. Last year our team was worse over summer. Bieksa Richardson gone. Sutter was supposed to be our only improvement. This year, the team is a lot better. JB had a much better summer. McCan Vey Weber Bartkowski replaced will make a big difference.

Your post said Chicago offered a 1st and Pokka for Hamhuis and Vrbata.. I'm just trying to figure out when this actually happened. I must have been on vacation that day and missed it.

I told you, few days before the deadline. No thats what they wanted. I didnt say offer. And it wasnt JB who said no, Hamhuis didnt respond fast enough for Chicago's liking. Dunno if Pokka Vrbata were in that offer they made, but it was said Hamhuis for sure, and 1st was offered. Them wanting Hamhuis and Vrbata both (kill two birds with one stone), was rumor, but noone knows if there was an official offer. Hamhuis for sure. Might have even been Benning who was my source lol. He said something bout all that I think. I dunno man, im sure if you search, you'll find it. Maybe someone on here will be kind enough to confirm this. Either way I don't wanna argue anymore regarding something that didnt come out my mouth originally

I dont know man you find it. Im sure its there somewhere. If I remember correctly, word was Hamhuis was their main target, not Ladd, but Hamhuis took too long so they took Ladd. It was actually a few days prior to the deadline I think. Ppl biitch about Hammer, but its JBs fault he waited so long when it was obvious this was gonna be the way things would go. Think they actually wanted both Hammer+Vrbata, cost being 1st+Pokka. When Dallas calls, payment wasnt as high so our owner, now spoiled by Chicago offer, tells JB go get more (probably 1st instead of 2nd, or Lindell instead of Jokipakka). So dallas gets Russel instead. Offer off the table. They come back saying we'll still take Hammer. No more 2nd, Pollock, or Jokipakka though. Give you this guy and a 3rd. Take that to your owner.  JB says its our only option, take what we can? Owner says no, im too stubborn ill take nothing. It wasnt Jim Nill vs Jim Benning. It was Gaglardi saying fack you Aquilini's. They're personal beef, and greed, was the reason we got zip. "We like Russell over Hamhuis". Sure budz. Thats why Russells a UFA and Hamhuis is signed an hour after he's no longer on Aquilini's payroll

Can someone else confirm this or remind me how it went down cuz im 99% certain this was it. Again, im not on Nucks or Stars management team so I dunno how it exactly went down. But pretty sure this was the talk

    Fine.

    Sedin Sedin Eriksson

    -----   Sutter Hansen

    Baer Horvat Virtanen

    Happy? lol

Our second and third line will probably play the same amount of minutes 5v5

A bit lol. Me personally I think he'll battle Etem for spot on 4th to start. Remember them protecting Bo in his second year from seeing opposition top lines, signing Sutter? Look what happened to Vey and McCann when our 3 centres got injured. Disaster. 55 shots against. I think Rodin and Hansen will be RW's on those two lines. Hansen checking top lines., Rodin other line that has bit more offensive starts.... Sutter checking, Horvat other line.... UFA/Trade checking line, Baertschi other line. Dorsett Granlund Virtanen Etem rotate 4th. Burrows we have over 2 months to find him a home. After hearing that, you think that sounds likely to be managements thinking?

You have a point regarding Lucic

Regarding Brouwer though, that's a whiff.  He's a versatile, two way player, consistent 20 goal scorer, pp and pk duty, handles hard minutes, produces  - Calgary picked up a good, versatile player as well - not quite the upside, but also 2 less years at 4.5.

I wouldnt want him over Eriksson, but many as well as him.Brouwer said CGY was a family decision to be close to the kids aunts uncles n grandparents. Brouwer said he never talked to JB, his agent did once. CGY made a nice pitch and got him cheap and not very long. If JB put in a little more time n effort, guaranteed we could get him at 4 or slightly over. For me, I don't like that too much. Pisses me off almost as much as waiting to ask Hamhuis the inevitable question of can you waive NTC, and to whom. This way, we would have had a 1st from Chicago days before the deadline

  10. 27 minutes ago, shazzam said:

Judging by the number of games he plays each season, he stays healthy. I was hoping for Lucic instead due to the nastiness and big bodies in our division. I guess you can't complain too much, he should be able to pot 25+ goals.

    Sedin Sedin Eriksson

    Baer Horvat Virtanen

    -----   Sutter Hansen

Perhaps Etem/Burrows fills out the top 9

Can people stop putting Virtanen on the 2nd line. Sorry you are the one I quote bro, I just see it in at least 50% of peoples lineups and I wanna get it outta ppl's heads

  11. Shut up everyone who says he isnt physical.. ya for the cpl canada games he played he didnt throw hits.. His role is to be defensively responsible and play positionally sound hockey.. If u watch him with London he hits as well.. With the puck, he shields the puck using his big body.. He isnt exactly a hitter like a milan lucic.. he plays physical like Bertuzzi

Obviously Bert had his hits on Jackman and others every now and then, but for the most part, what he did was rub guys off the puck cuz he was much stronger then them.. Are u gonna say Bert wasnt physical cuz he didnt hit that much

And no, Horvats stock is not falling.. On Canada he is used exactly how he will be used in the NHL his first season or two.. He wont be put in an offensive situation like Hodgson was.. Once he is 22-23 u will start to see his offensive game evolve and turn into a two way player like he is with London.. For now, this is what u will see from Horvat cuz thats whats gonna get him onto an NHL lineup... U didnt even get to see 1st OA picks like Thornton or Lecavalier`s offense until their 2nd seasons.. They started out as reliable 3rd liners who can chip in

O`Reilly and Sutter are great comparables

If you want former Canuck comparables Id say he will start out as a Magnus Arvedson and finish off as a Greg Adams.. Was gonna say Linden but thats a bit far fetched

  12. Yes, he has a summer home on Okanagan Lake between Kelowna and Vernon...I know he had it built in 2010, I'm assuming he still has it.

    Edit:

"Canadian hockey players also like to call Kelowna home. Dany Heatley, Ryan Getzlaf, Wade Redden, Trevor Linden, Jarome Iginla, Josh Gorges, Blake Comeau, Shea Weber, Scott Hannan, Brett McLean, Tyler Myers and dozens more play here in the summer and entertain friends in their luxury Okanagan homes. 1,000+ square foot home gym’s, beach access and a competitive spirit keep these athletes in top shape during the off season."

    http://www.jeremynewell.com/designing-kelowna-homes-for-celebrities-future-jane-hoffman-listings/

Gorges or Myers via trade would be great (although I think we sign Fayne/Engelland)

Iginla and Comeau UFA signings along with Miller would make my day (Cammalleri/Setoguchi if no Iginla)

Ben Street and Clayton Stoner are other hometown UFA's that we could sign to cheap Santorelli deals

What about Heatley at 2 yrs 5 mil?

  13. Don't want Miller or Hiller or any other goalie signed as a free agent for the sole reason that it would mean either Lack or Markstrom are gone. Most likely it would be Markstrom but this guy was heralded as the best goalie not in the AHL just over a year ago. He couldn't have completely fallen apart already, right???? I really hope the Canucks don't start signing some of these old vets like Iginla (who I highly doubt would sign with Van) or Miller just to MAKE the playoffs. No chance the Canucks will make it anywhere against teams like LA, CHI, ANA, STL. The team has enough veteran leadership as it is, they need to start bringing in the youth. I don't mean that Horvat, Shinkaruk or any of the other young prospects are jumping into the lineup but there better be spots for Jensen and Vey unless they are outplayed by someone.

    Sedin - Sedin - Kassian

    Jensen - Bonino - Burrows

    Higgins - Vey - Hansen

    Matthias - Richardson - Dorsett

    Hamhuis - Bieksa

    Edler - Tanev

    Sbisa - Stanton

    Lack

    Markstrom

I would prefer if the Canucks traded away some of our overabundance of 3rd liners that we currently have playing out of position. I would love to see the Canucks trade Burrows and Higgins for draft picks or prospects and sign/trade for some legit second liners that can score.

Rebuilding Edmonton style is not the way though.. Those players are used to losing now... We have to have a winning positive environment.. Get younger and kind of in a way, rebuild on the fly... Next year make it as the 8th seed, and every year move up 2 spots... Add Hiller/Miller, Moulson/Cammalleri, Ehrhoff/Pitkanen, and we actually are not that bad.. I say we can take Minnesota Colorado or Dallas out of the playoff picture

Although not the age we want, Higgins and Burrows go to the net and battle, just like Benning likes.. Burrows value is at an all time low so it would not be smart to move him now.. I say a perimeter player like Hansen would be the first one out.. Ppl may go off on me for saying this, but dont be suprised if Richardson is moved either (If Horvat beats him out at camp).. LA let him go because of his lack of physicality.. Some would say Horvat should go to junior instead of playing 4th line minutes.. But this year I think our 4th line plays 10+ mins a game.. Dorsett averaged 11mins

  14. Sedin Sedin Moulson/Callahan/Michalek

    Burrows Reinhart Kassian

    Higgins Horvat Santorelli

    Matthias Richardson Hansen

    *Sestito, Komarov

    Farm call-ups:

    Nicklas Jensen

    Brendan Gaunce

    Hunter Shinkaruk

    Dane Fox

    Ronalds Kenins

    Jordan Schroeder

    Zac Dalpe

    Darren Archibald

    Kellan Lain

    Alex Friesen

    Mike Zalewski

    Alexandre Grenier

    Alex Mallet

Thats a pretty good farm team we have next season.. I think we should drop some salary like vets Burrows Higgins or Hansen and make room for some youngsters to rotate in and out of the line-up.. Use the money to sign a puck moving dman we crave.. Pitkanen or Niskanen make sense, especially if we have to move Edler/Garrison/Tanev to Florida for the 1st pick

  15. Reinhart is the best playmaker in the draft since Sidney Crosby.. I know it sucks to get rid of Shinkaruk, but to get a future Toews/Tavares who is from Vancouver, I think you gotta do it..We wont be picking 6th overall for a very long time, so take advantage of this opportunity.. I just hope it can be Garrison and not Tanev.. If it has to be Tanev, then Id say Gaunce not Shinkaruk.. We have no wingers in the system, but lots of centres.. I think Cassels passed Gaunce on the depth chart... Reinhart was so good towards the end of the year, he was getting 2 points per game.. 23 points in 13 playoff games was very impressive as well.. at 18 yrs old, he was the player of the year in the WHL over guys like Petan, Pouliot, and his brother Griffin.. that says a lot

  16. Your rant is childish. The ones you are quoting are the oldest ones. Draft orders change right up to the draft.

I want to correct you about the CSA. I believe its called the CSS and he was ranked 6th for North American Skaters. Again one of the oldest draft rankings.

I appreciate you bringing a rarely used ID to rage around but it doesnt add much to the conversation.

CSS thank u mother for correcting my spelling... ya he is 6th for north american skaters.. so what do u think kasperi kapanen thatcher demko or ville husso are ranked higher then him? Even if he was 8th, not 6th, whatever.. u get the point. someone wanted to know what he was ranked and I gave him the rankings.. Im bringing facts and opinions to the convo.. rarely used account or not.. what are u bringing to this convo.. spellcheck?

  17. Why not? I watched this kid at the U18 tournament and he has it all....and oh man can he ever hit. He has a really good shot and good hockey instincts. I don't really see any weaknesses in his game. He is as close to a sure thing as you can get. I would be estatic if we drafted him at 6. Then traded a vet for the right to draft Perlini or Fleury.

Perlini.. Forgot about him.. He quickly fell out of the #6 talk huh? Doubt he even goes top 10... Don`t know why he didn`t get that much Ice-Time for Canada.. He was the 2nd best forward behind Virtanen

  18. Ive seen as many Junior games as one can possible see, and my OPINION is

-I hope Draisatl doesnt fall to us at 6th, because I really don't like him.. I think he overperformed in Junior because of his physical maturity.. he's very good in tight spaces, but he's way too slow for the NHL.. He may well become a Tom Sestito.. Crazier things have happened (Patrik Stefan) Either way, even if he does become great, he's gonna be a poor man's Joe Thornton.. Being a Thornton fan is like saying your favorite team was the Utah Jazz (Stockton and Malone)

-If Bennett falls (probably 1-3% chance), of course we take him.. I rank him number #3

-If Dal Colle falls (not all that unrealistic), we gotta take him.. I got him at #5

-If top 5 goes as planned, my pick would be Nylander then either Virtanen/Ritchie.. Nylander played with men already so we could benefit from having him and Horvat with the big club next year.. Ritchie could make it as a Tom Wilson type in his first year.. Virtanen may have the most potential of them all, but I don't see him making the NHL next year.. Sure its not all about who makes it first, but for selfish reasons, I simply wanna see the Canucks inject some much needed youth in the lineup next year.. Nylander+Horvat+Jensen+Corrado... Gaunce+Shinkaruk+Fox to the farm

-Ehlers may become good, but its a much bigger gamble because of his size, he played in the Q, and he played with Drouin.. He didnt play that much better then Martin Frk did for Halifax last year.. Im scared that he becomes a Maxim Afinogenov type player

-Tuch Ive seen play once so I won't comment

-Fleury is very good, but honestly I'd rather just take Sanheim at #36

  19. None of us are scouts.. We all see things we like in Virtanen, Ritchie, Ehlers, and Nylander.. Noone knows who will be the best of the 4, so don't act like you've travelled back in time to share your stupid thoughts on the internet with us.. Benning knows more then all of us.. If he takes Alex Tuch or Haydn Fleury at #6, I'm sure he's right... I trust a man who comes out of a draft with Kessel Lucic and Marchand

  20. Mackenzie 8th

    Button mock 6th

    ISS 9th

    CSA 6th

    Average fan 7th

Not cuz he's a BC boy, because he's a 17 year old 40 goal scorer

    you HEARD he sucks

    you HEARD he's dumb

Our fantastic CDC scouts that hate on people just because, try watching some games before they can comment.. When compared to Booth, its stylstic, not ceiling.. If we draft him everyones gonna be on his nuttz.. Guarantee less then 5% of ppl here wanted Horvat.. More said Shinkaruk at 9 then Horvat.. Now those same ppl who talked smack say they wouldnt deal him for Kane.. I got an idea, lets draft Beach?

If uve only seen a game or two and some highlights, dont bother posting false info on the boards
