I’m a bit shocked that he said Brock and Myers were both staying.

Also very surprised that Pearson is “preparing” to return to camp this coming season!

He also said he wasn't intending on using buyouts.....

  2. That Nashville trade seems too good to give up. Scissons will give Raty time to develop in the A, and if he is good to go in under 3 years, we can always flip him at a deadline.

I'm assuming you meant Dante Fabbro as Fabbri plays for Detroit. He seems like he has something more to offer. Maybe Tocchet, Foote and Gonchar can get it out of him.

Cernak is one of the best RDs in the world and only 26 - he's probably in Tampa's long-term plans as their old core pass the batton to their new younger core, so I doubt they move him. To get him alone I think we'd have to trade someone like Miller to be honest. After Hedman, Sergachev and Cernak, their D isn't that great so if anything they need more quality on their blueline, not to lose any of it.

Like the CBJ deals though. Peeke is mainly an RD though. I wonder if we can get our 3C from CBJ as well - Kuraly or Roslovic at a stretch.

Boeser + Garland + Rathbone for Peeke + Kuraly

They have plenty of good young centers getting better and are probably going to add bloody Leo Carlsson to that list so Kuraly becomes pretty useless for them, but they could really use some middle-6 wingers. Obviously on D they just loaded up and Peeke is the odd man out now.

    Gaudreau - Jenner - Laine

    Johnson - Roslovic - Boeser

    Garland - Carlsson - Marchenko

    Texier - Sillinger - Bemstrom

They have a lot of young kids in their forward group so adding Boeser and Garland really takes them to another level depth-wise.

    On defence, they've still got:

    Werenski - Severson

    Provorov - Boqvist

    Bean - Blankenburg

    Gudbranson

Really no room for Peeke there and it looked like even Blankenburg and Boqvist were getting more minutes from Peeke.

CBJ is a much better team for making that deal next year. Cap-wise they'd be around 1.5M over the limit so I wouldn't mind retaining a touch on Boeser to get us over the line.

I would 100% retain on Boeser. Especially sub 2mill. over 2 mill, I'd rather take a player back instead.

You must be dreaming if you think Tampa will let go of Cernak. They are still gunning for the cup in the next 2-3 years. I like how this trade gives away all the players we don't want and gets back solid RDs and 3rd line pieces, as if we're playing fantasy hockey.

I mean, this is armchair GMing, which is all fantasy. Also, I don't really want to give away Hoglander and Rathbone, but Dries and Studnicka won't add any value.

  5. To TBL:

    2024 1st

    2023 4th (DET)

    Myers 50% retained

    Hoglander (rights)

    To CBJ:

    Garland

    Rathbone

    To VAN:

    Cernak

    Colton (rights)

    Seabrook LTIR

    Peeke

TBL frees up cap space, gets a young winger and a RD replacement for the year and gets to earn LTIR money that they can spend at the TDL (along with the picks if we're being honest)

CBJ frees up a RD spot for Ceulmans or Jiricek, gets a LD prospect and Garland who can play up and down the Top 9

VAN gets our 3C and solidifies our D.

    Kuzmenko - Petterson - Beauvillier

    PDG - Miller - Boeser

    Mikheyev - Colton - Podkolzin

    McDonough - Aman - Joshua

    Hughes - Cernak

    Peeke - Hronek

    Hirose - Johanssen/Woo/Bear

    Demko

    Martin/Silovs

Think trade deadline legend Future Considerations is involved at all?

I was just thinking, someone like Freidge should post that 5 minutes before dropping the actual return. Expert troll job that wouldn't be entirely incorrect.

Dumba's got a 10 team NTC, I question whether we'd be on it or not. He's not what I'd want in a top 4RD.

If the idea was to acquire him and flip him elsewhere I'd be interested though, assuming he'd be willing to come here and assuming Minnesota had interest in Boeser.

He is UFA after this season, so he can choose to go wherever he wants after. I wouldn't want to resign him next season anyways.

If we buy him out in the offseason it'd eventually free up cap but it'd immediately for that first season and then saddle us with 2.3M in dead cap before jumping up to 4.7M in dead cap for two years

It'd drop down to just over 2M after, doesn't strike me as being worth it sooner than later

When it becomes a cap hit, over savings, the cap should have risen enough that it shouldn't be too big of a deal though. Especially with other large contracts (Miller in this trade, Myers, Boeser) coming off the books.

Saying that, with our history of cap management....... ugh
