I would personally rather Nylander than Dal Colle and possibly even Bennett. I just hope he still is there at 6 or Draisaitl is the one who falls.
-
Nylander looks big out there.

Losing Tanev would sting ,especially since Hamhuis,Bieksa are 31 and 32 years old respectively..Not exactly spring chickens...Canucks are going to have to start replenishing their blue line in 2-3 years.?..Tanev still has a big future in front of him.
In saying that..I would still deal him and the 6th for # 1...if Florida wanted Tanev+ Shink + 6th..I would pass on it.
If we could get significant assets on the back end through other avenues (by trading Edler or Kesler) I think I would be able to swallow the move. I do think that Tanev is perhaps one if the most underrated D men in the league (at least defensively) but if we had guys like Pouliot, Vatanen, or even Fleury at 10 it would certainly lessen the blow of his loss.

Im just so excited for the draft, so many pieces in play and we'll definitely get a great player regardless.

JB did mention that he is going to be enquiring with Tallon on what the asking price is for the #1 pick....Here on CDC we seem to think that Tanev + 6th OA for the 1st OA would be enough to get it done....I have a feeling that Tallon is asking a lot more than that ...If it is indeed true that Tallon does want Ehlers,it would put the Canucks in the drivers seat to make the trade with Florida......The only issue would be,what would the Panthers want on top of that .
I think losing Tanev would sting a lot. Would much rather give up Corrado however Florida is in a win now mode. It's tough to gauge how much is fair value when moving up five spots.
Personally I think keeping Tanev (who is top four now and potential to be more than that) and the 6th pick (which is going to be a great prospect any way you look at it) is more beneficial to the team.

The division is always scary. Makes for an exciting stretch drive though!

I think the Islanders are probably going to be the most desperate team to improve in a hurry and be competitive next season. How much is it worth to Snow to not be the guy who traded away a pick that is then used on a generational talent by another team?
If you get the #5 and #6 you all of a sudden have a lot more options if you are Jim Benning. Florida or Buffalo could easily trade a top 2 pick for both of those or one of them and other assets.
Edler and another asset might be enough to pry that #5 out of Long Island.
Might sting a little but how about Higgins? The Isles get a gritty top 6 contributor who may waive to play back home.
If we're going to try for Sam Reinhart perhaps we target Griffin as well?

London will win if their goaltending holds up.
With the suspension to Stolarz could be a very big question mark.

The worst part about this game was the guy beside me, teasing me about Mason Raymond. That one stings.

His WJHC shouldn't really be what you base your opinion off of. He plays on team Germany. Pretty much him vs the world.I wonder about Draisaitl........all the tools, but I didn't think he had a good WJHC this year.

This will be the first Canucks game I have ever been to (family moved from Vancouver when I was little and couldn't afford it until now). I'm a little disappointed by all the injuries but if the game is anything like the last time these two met, it'll make for an exciting game. I just want the Canucks to win so I don't have to hear about the "downfall of the Canucks" from all my obnoxious friends that are leafs fans.

I can't believe people are upset about this deal. Weise may be an effective 4th liner but he will never crack this teams top-9, nor is he a solution at all to our offensive woes. Diaz on the other hand is a right handed puck mover, something CDC has been calling for, and is severely needed since our D-core has been depleted by injuries. Diaz also has a chance with those injuries to play his way into a large role on this team, if he can help our powerplay woes like he helped Montreal's during Subbans hold out (Which was partially the reason why Subban took the bridge deal). We also now have flexibility with what assets we can move at the deadline and still be a competitive team. As the saying goes the team who gets the best player usually wins the trade, that would be us.
-
Chalk this one up as another win in a trade for Gillis. He's slowly but surely improving his reputation in that area. He traded a redundant player for a glaring need ( ecspecially now with the injuries), a right-handed puck moving defenseman.

Edler to Detroit will not be happening until the offseason (if it were to happen). Detroit is way too cap restricted to trade for Edler's cap hit without skewing the preferred return (young roster player/prosect and a 1st) by sending back another terrible contract (like Tootoo or Samuelson) which we would not want if we indeed intend on staying competitive. We would probably also have to retain some of Edlers cap, which I would not be interested in doing unless the compensation for doing so would be worthwhile.

One was seriously injured and showed a lot of heart and passion by even trying to make the team, something we really need on this team. The other played his role almost to perfection but the team just came up short. Terrible argument. Both are going to be great NHLers. Now to pin our hopes on two kids, one of which got cut by WJC team the other help broke the medal streak. The future is so full of facking positivity.

I think you can add Schroeder to that list, he made soem nice plays and created offense. Both Daniel and Burrows refused to shoot the puck.Pros:
Kassian
4th Line
End of List

Hard to be optimistic nowadays.
-
Nice little play by Kassian on that goal. Right as TSN is praising Chicago's 4th line our "4th line" strikes back.
-
Wow Schroeder is looking very impressive.

The ceremony also honoured Olympians from all countries. It's because the Canucks ar a Canadian team, in a Canadian market, that hosted the last olympics, that they are touching on it.This ceremony is disrespectful to Kesler, the Canucks organization should be embarrassed for doing such a shameful act against one of our top players. This is a shame, way too much.
-
I think this would be the better message to our star players than scratching them would be. If the coaching staff shows that they reward good play with more ice time and chances then maybe players will actually want to earn it, instead of repeatedly sending the Sedins and Kesler out regardless of their play.Yup I also agree. It's frustrating how the coaches aren't letting them play. They've earned iit if you ask me.
-
Hopefully an emotional game against the hated Blackhawks can spark this team and get them back to putting their best effort forward and being competitive again. I expect a statement game from Luongo, who has really shown up recently when facing the hawks.
I predict a 2-1 Canucks win in OT.
Schroeder with a goal and an assist and Burrows slays his personal dragon with the OT goal. Luongo stands on his head to put us in that position.

If they asked for Gaunce and the 6th though it would be a different story. I would pull the trigger immediately.
