  1. I don't know if people remember when Todd Bertuzzi was 23 years old.  They used to say that Bert was lazy and wasn't trying hard even though he had the toughness and skill to be a top power forward in the NHL.  We traded for him and he found the right linemate and he suddenly was hard working and trying hard on every shift.  What i'm trying to say is that Jake will not show us what he will turn out to be until he is 24-26.  He plays a type of game that needs maturing.  It requires hard skating for a big kid like him, which needs lots of effort and commitment to training.  That's where his youth is still behind in.  He isn't a mature old soul like Bo and Brock, but a lot of kids at that age aren't.  Bo and Brock are the exception.  With the right coaching and right amount of tough love, Jake will perfect his training and off ice programming and that will translate to his on ice game.

I have no doubt Jake will be fine.  He isn't going to be a 80 point high skilled player, but I know that when this team is gonna have future big game battles in playoffs, we're gonna be so glad to have Jake as one of the main keys to our abilities to win those playoff games.  He is going to be a very impactful player.  It doesn't have to be high scoring numbers, but it's a combo of hard hitting, closing down the opposition defense and pushing the defense back with his high speed in the neutral zone.  Include those things with good share of points and he will be one of the main reasons we will win majority of our games.

  2. Farhan Lalji just tweeted that Canucks will present Linden as Canucks president tomorrow.

Wonder who they will hire as GM since Gilman is already been told that he's staying.

Update - Farhan also reports that there's a provision in Gillis' contract which will make the Canucks only pay half of MG's 8 million. A similar provision is in Torts' contract if he were to be let go.

  3. I think the ownership has no choice but to fire Gillis. Torts will stay another season in my opinion. The new GM will be more bold with his moves and we'll hopefully get a younger and faster team mixed in with a veteran group for the most part and see where it takes us

  4. I have nothing but good memories of Luongo and see him as one of the best Canucks in our history, but I do also feel like he failed in certain times to rise up to the challenge of his potential. I am only speaking of the playoffs here. I think for so long, we had dreamt of a top quality goalie who can win us those key games and Luongo was that for the most part, but we also got to see his implosions too which included the Chicago series' and the Boston series.

I'm not saying Lu was all to blame for them, but I wish he was that one goalie that could make that amazing save that would win us the Stanley Cup.

  5. Just want to state the fact that Luongo was an elite goalie who was getting paid like one to make the difference in net. His margin of error has to be very limited. Eddie Lack and any other goalie in his rookie season, dealing with a team that can't score for half of the season and is in a free fall, should be given some time and space to develop.

  6. I am not worried about Kesler's happiness regarding his trade status. I think all of the players are unhappy about their performances this season and that should be their main concern. If Kesler is to be traded, he will get that chance soon when the season is over.

  7. My belief is that Gillis was about to make a bad trade again, with Sutter part of that package and the ownership put a stop to it because they finally realized that Gillis sucks as a GM and he'll get fired soon. That's my guess and hope. Mike Gillis has had his turn and he has failed miserably as a GM. We need someone who can make moves and not lose every trade he makes.
