  1. Me thinks if Virtanen plays tonight are line up will be:

    Sedins-Burrows

    Baer-Horvat-Vrbata

    Virtanen-Sutter-Hansen

    Prust-Cracknell-Dorsett

I wouldn't want McCann sitting out especially after scoring last game but I don't think we're putting him on the 4th line.

Do we want McCann's skill for Anaheim or do we want Jake's crash and bang?

Do we also want to take Sutter off of the sedin line? I don't see a line up where Jake fits in without sitting a vet or moving him off..

Just take out Prust and keep McCann. Prust looks very slow.

  2. I find that JV looks small out there and needs to add weight if he's going to play a physical. If not, he will get injured. Anyone else?

Lol i was at the game last night in person he was one of the biggest guys out there, he just cut from 228 to 215 thats pretty big..

  3. He will need to play very well in preseason to get a spot, don't forget Shinkaruk has been PPG in preseason and not made the team.

Shinkaruk though needs to be in top 6 to play HIS game, Virtanen can play throughout the lineup at the start. Much better chance for Jake to make it imo.

  4. lmao you think Virt will pummel guys into submission cmon man Virt is no where near the aggressive player Kassian is. Virt is most likely going to be a hundred times more offensive though.

I think the opposite imo, Virtanen has punishing solid hits almost every game, Kassian doesnt hit that well, he struggles to line guys up and he often leads with his arms out whereas Virtanen is all shoulder, he is just a better hitter by quite a large margin IMO.

  5. Incorrect.

Also incorrect. No prospect is ever guaranteed 9 games unless they impress at camp and are really testing the team to keep him up full time. If he's not ready, then they'll send him back after preseason rather than have to waive someone else (and risk losing them) just to give him those 9 games.

Not really, theres quite a few ppl on here and on twittee that bash Virtanen or any other pick because they didnt take the guy THEY wanted.

  6. Why do people write this kid off saying he wont produce when he is not even 20 yet....

God I hate this fanbase sometimes

Because those ppl are Nylander/Ehlers lovers

  7. Yep. And if we're lucky we'll get pre concussion booth, if not..post concussion.

I think Jakes defensive game is under rated though, at worst he will be a good third line guy

For everyones sanity he better be better than a 3rd liner at 6th overall. I think he will be, got all the tools.

  8. Mcann has a deadly shot. Think Monahan when you see his shot, it reminds me of Mcann. I'm telling you, Mcann is the steal of the draft. Next, Horvat is just a solid 2nd liner, I haven't seen anything in this game to call him a 1st liner because 1st liners show something special.

Theres been a couple instances where Horvat has made guys look silly, not saying he is a 1st liner atm but he does have flash.

  9. He can stick handle at top speed, that's fine. But he doesn't have that good of hands, he's a straight-line player like Bob McKenzie said. Physical, skate well, shoots the puck hard. He has a great simple game, he doesn't have a lot of finesse to his game or creativity like Bob mentioned.

There's nothing wrong with that, Lucic doesn't have good hands either. Plenty of players don't, even Getzlaf isn't much of a good stick handler.

Yeah, I said that in a page back that he's a hard player to contain and creates space for other players with his big body.

Getzlaf has pretty good hands and stick handeling tbh, can make plays in super tight.

  10. Who do you guys think is going to be the best goal scorer out of the 2014 draft. I think its going to be between Virtanen and Dal Colle but Milano, Tuch, Ho-sang seem like solid snipers as well.

McCann could be a darkhorse, has a pretty good offensive game from what Ive seen, he was ranked 11th before falling to 24

  11. God Im stoked for this kid, Weird knowing some of my friends know him haha (I live in Abbotsford), but Im looking forward to getting his jersey once he makes the Canucks, insanely talented and you gotta love his physicality.

  12. Bure vs Virtannen debate.

Pavel Bure was not the fastest skater in the NHL even before he got into that huge knee injury. He will participate in those skating competitions in the all star games and never win it. He's not the fastest that said, he is deadly for his acceleration which was the best in the world for sure. I wouldn't argue against that, since Pavel Bure is in full speed at stride number 2, which not eve comparable. During Bure's era it was Mike Gartner and Tony Amonte as guys that are the "fastest" in the NHL of course we know speed means nothing if your not a talented player like bure, Say Mason Raymond and Grabner as good examples. all the speed in the world to be a mediocre player.

Virtannen. anyone think he needs another year in the Dub next year??? I think he really does, why do people think he has a legit shot at the Canucks roster next year?

People and Benning think this because of his already NHL body and size, and Horvat made the team at 19 and has been a good 4th line player for us and he will only get better and I could see Virtanen going the same route as Horvat.

  13. Well, you've seen 50% of them both live. Considering Jake is the fastest skater you have ever seen, pretty hard for you to say Bure is faster.

Jake is faster, Pavel got to top speed faster but Jakes top speed is higher.

Bure just seems faster because of his acceleration, its close

  14. Maybe it's just because they're juniors, but Jake is constantly blowing by guys like that. Perhaps his speed is deceptive coming in, or he kicks another gear and they get flat-footed.

Could be his size that makes him deceptive, not many guys his size have such raw speed, love it.

  15. Jake could be as fast as Bure. He is much bigger and has some beauty moves.

I think he is on a line with Horvat and Dorsett next year and that line gets 3rd line minutes.

Jake has high end speed but Bure had the insane acceleration that put him at top speed in like 2 strides, wish I coulda seen him live, my fav player ever. Im soooo stoked for Virtanen though.
