Tomlinson (just now on 1040) discussing Sutter’s groin injury, and making connection to Sutter’s surgery from a couple years ago. Hearing Sutter is not trying to even skate until after the Christmas break has him concerned it could be a recurrence of the original troubles.
That would be worrying, I think Sutter provides that veteran leadership that most poo-poo on given his salary, yet it's so vital for a team hoping to have its young guys learn the way of the nhl.

Harvey our, Henry in. I like this move, simply for the fact that we get younger and get another young Canadian on the team (yes he's normally a center back, but can also play fullback). Harvey was great for us, but the past few seasons he's been a bit of a liability defensively and isn't going forward nearly as much as he used to.
Here continues another offseason of wholesale changes...

Kid's a gamer with a good head on his shoulders. He is going to do great for us!

traded for LA Galaxys starting Keeper. Rowe and Marinovic should be a decent tandem next year
Agreed, and unfortunately for David, a lot cheaper than if Ousted was around. That money should hopefully be spent on a dp CAM or another striker for Kamara to pair with

I get the feeling that once Guance scores his first goal, more will come rapidly. He's gripping the stick pretty hard at the moment and also dishing to others in better scoring opportunities (as he should). Once one goes in, the burden of "1 goal in his entire career" will be lifted and he can relax a bit!

We need to spend more money, and bring in a top notch midfielder to drive the play, and a super goal scorer. We used to have a great little goal scorer, but didn't pay him. (I forgot his name:(
When we won back in the 70's we had Trevor Wymark and King Kevin Hector. Heck we had Alan Ball too. Sure our guys were old, and in their declining years, but they were still better than the NA guys.
No denying that you're right. I think it will take a change in ownership for that to happen though

mmmm this caps team has a lot of trouble with continuity
montero appears to be gone
reyna also is likely not coming back
arguably the 2 best players on the team gone
so now a new chemistry experiment must occur with new key players
so as fans this is gonna be a do over with fans gonna have to be just content
that there is a local team and brand..
but i really think the team is trying the patience and loyalty of fans
I think you just hit the nail on the head with the Caps struggles the past few years in the playoffs: lack of team cohesion. It's tough to gel and go to battle with each other when the pinpoint of our attacking line keeps changing every year! Hopefully with Kamara here, that will change things and get us going.

I haven't posted too much about Jake since I said he needed to start watching Gaunce.
But I actually think I am seeing a turning point in Jake's development... something is happening and its good.
He is starting to use his speed, he is starting to use his strength and he is showing the determination that is required for him to go to the next level.
Just about every game now I see him show that special acceleration and speed he is capable of... the speed that is just not available to 95% of NHL players.
Frankly after several years of watching him on the bench, watching him being interviewed, and listening to what he says, it was clear to me he was just a kid... he was immature even for his age... which was young for a draft choice anyway. Even though he is a big kid, he lacks the sureness and confidence many others of his age have. And that immaturity also made him slower to learn... slower to anticipate and understand the game around him.
But that is starting to change. The ice time he has under his belt is starting to pay off. I know a lot of people are frustrated he is not developing at the pace they want to see, but he is developing. I think Coach Green understands him, and understands how to bring him along.
He is gonna be fine.
Couldn't agree more, hes always been a project, but is coming along nicely! If he can get to 10-15goals this year (not out of the question) while playing a consistently responsible game, I'd count that a successful year!

Nearly everyone was baffled at the time, considering the players who were still on the board. Senyshyn wasn't even rated in the first round... but I guess he skates really fast. With those three picks they could have rebuilt their team. Turned it around and established it for the next decade in just 15 minutes.
Instead, they were the laughing stock on the draft floor.... how the mighty have fallen!

Wowza, he's got quite the release! Loving what Benning is doing, targetting young players who can rip the puck

It really shouldn't make me this happy to see the pitiful attempts at drafting Boston showed in 2015, but I can't help it! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Gadj and Lind on the same line at WJC Canada camp.
Pretty sweet to see two future canuck hopefuls on the same line. Fingers crossed they stick together and have some nice chemistry for the tournament!

Brock is a star in the making, we just need to temper the expectations a bit and let him learn to cope with slow times (which unfortunately will eventually come). That shot is so lethal though, he really is quite an asset for our power play, I just wish he was setup more!

Is it that hard to believe that the kid and his fiance (who speaks no English nor has any friends here in Vancouver when Nik is out of town) got homesick? He made the decision that, rather than continue on and have issues with their marriage, a return to Russia would be best for both. He definitely didn't close the door on Vancouver forever and his fiance still was wearing gloves from Van in that snapchat picture, so maybe she hasn't too. It just wasn't right for her this time

Yes and no. Australia moved to the Asian football confederation a couple of years ago so it is technically seen as a part of Asia.
Oh interesting, I didn't know they moved. Thanks for clearing that up!

Homebrew you are definitely in the wrong place....this is CDC. Stop showing off and start some ridiculous thread about trading Eriksson and a bag of pucks for Stamkos otherwise you may just get banned.
Hawai'i island (the big island) is one of the places that would be perfect for geothermal energy extraction due to the Volcano located right in the heart of the island. However, there are obviously the environmental concerns with dealing with geothermal fracking and other such procedures, in addition to the cultural issues facing the scientists/businessmen. The Hawaiians believe the mother of the island Pele's being and soul is located in all parts of the island (rock, trees, etc.) so desecrating those by fracking would cause quite a big hoorah.

Baertschi knocking on the door to top 100. (Also very quietly one goal off the team lead in that stat this year)
100. Michel Petit D 226 24 57 81 101. Sven Baertschi LW 160 42 38 80 102. Chris Tanev D 363 18 62 80 I never realized just how many goals he has scored here in the past couple years. That is a very respectable 2nd line level production (0.5ppg) on a poor offensive team. Good for Sven. This partnership with Bo and Boesser will only mean that those totals will continue to grow.

It was a cracker for sure, but GOTY? Not in my book.
Nico's bicycle kick goal to bury FC Dallas was better, IMHO....
Fan voting is fine, but it leads to potentially scewed. Either way, a good goal but others were better in my opinion too. Maybe they should include a league-wide player vote for goal of the year too? I think it'd be interesting to see what the players deemed the best goal of the season vs the fans.....

Opinion piece from the MLS website:
"But the days of forking out eight-figure, multi-year deals for the most recognizable names in the game – players like David Beckham, Thierry Henry, David Villa, Pirlo and Kaká, with their trophy cases overstuffed with FIFA Player of the Year awards, Ballon d’Ors and World Cup and UEFA Champions League medals – are coming to a stark end."

This is good news for the league. It can't be looked at like a retirement league for the over-the-hill golden era players. If it can get up to the level of the Eredivisie (Dutch league) where its a solid league on its own that is known for developing top players to feed to the best leagues in the world, it would be amazing.

ow! That's a great pass. And Bo, with his speed, certainly puts fear into the D too. The D left a BIG GAP between their forechecking forwards and themselves, because of Bo, which left that HUGE space for Bo to accept the pass from Pouliot in. I think if Bo is not the first guy through the neutral zone, driving the D back, then that space would not be there. That's Green's new system and coaching properly too.
Completely agree! Green is playing a system that supports his players and helps them excel.

He's quite an exciting prospect, hopefully, he continues this upward trajectory and grows his confidence! Next year will be a big year for him

Jake is such a character. Even if he never truly discovers his first line scoring form, he will be a beast on this team and a local icon. We could have obviously done better in the draft, but we could have also done far worse (Dal Colle for instance!).

Well, out goes Ousted and Adekugbe. These could have been 2 quality players for us this upcoming season, so with them out the door Robbo has some work ahead of him to fill the roster out. Time will tell if he's successful
