The thing is that EP40 started this season so brilliantly that the expectation is unbelievably high. People think just because he doesn’t do insane goals every night he is not first in line for the Calder. Just look what he does defensively, how can you not just be awed by his game. But hockey journalists from Canada of course want to make a case for Tkachuk, even though he is not on the same level as EP.

To bad he has a bunch of plugs to play with. That won't help him get through his struggles.  He is one of the only bright spots on this currently sad sack team...him and horvat.

Just look who other high ranked rookies play with. They get fed with extreme skill and experience constantly. EP gets fed with superstars like Goldobin and Eriksson. Until Boeser gets back he has absolutely no one to play with because no one else is at the same wavelength as him. No one can match the speed of the plays or even get a FRIKKIN pass on the blade because they didn’t see it coming. So yeah, plugs is the correct word

I saw him live at his 4 point game against Färjestad, basically on his head and knees the entire game. The dominance is unheard of in Swedish rookie history.

This is a hilarious thread  Hughes will probably be a good D-man but comparing him to Dahlin isnt fair. I hope Hughes will have a great year in NCAA and the development goes as planned! We need that for sure

A lot of talk about Pettersson playing with Rakell and Zibanejad at the WC. That would be an amazing top line. Pettersson should play a top 6 roll, can’t see him playing in a ”watch and learn” line. Unless youre Sidney Crosby or Patrick Kane, you need top players to lift your game significantly.

Obviously Dahlin is going to be a great player and all but this year he is not the best U20 player in the SHL. People are getting stiff pants just because he is going to be #1 draft this summer.
