I highly doubt that Benning would do that, but IF the Canucks go on a tear between now and the trade deadline and are either in the #4 spot or are within reasonable striking distance, then yeah, I could definitely see Benning moving a 1st for help this season similar to what the Oilers did in 2006 when they acquired Dwayne Roloson at that time.

On the flip side however, I can also see Benning moving Boeser for a 1st and/or elite prospect at the deadline if the Canucks are way out of a playoff spot.  Boeser QO at the end of this season will be 7.5 million and so I don’t know if Benning will want to pay Boeser by that amount.......although the way Benning treats Boeser could also have an impact on Pettersson’s future decisions?  Who knows.

All I know is that for now, the Canucks have to take it one game at a time.  Even though we stunk last year, we still managed to have an

8-3-2 stretch of good hockey.  We need to have that stretch right now.  One game is already out of the way, so if we were to go 7-3-2 over the next 11, we would be 13-13-4 which would likely get us back into the conversation for the number 4 spot with another 52 games to be played.

I agree with everything you stated. I really pray we keep Boeser but honestly we have a lot of strong wingers and not enough physical RH defenseman. Maybe we can also get a strong 3 line C pk specialist out of the deal as well.

As a Brock fan, I wouldn't be happy with a trade unless he got a premium return.  Currently, he is underperforming, so it would be bad timing to attempt a trade right now.

I have no doubt that he will get his game back and return to the level we have seen in the past.  Imo, Brock playing at his best, is a better player than any of the other RWs on the team.  It's hard to understand how this trade makes the team better, unless a valuable player + 1st round pick comes back.

I see the Rangers as the ideal trading partner for Boes.  They have a huge deficit at RW (Kakko still has a ways to go and the others are not good at all).

Brock to NY for Ryan Lindgren LD + Late 1st round pick (NY are a p/o team this season).

Lindgen plays an old school defensive game; he's a tough defender and relentless along the boards and in front of the net.  His offensive game is still under construction.  NY places a high value on this player, so may refuse a trade.

Brock to NY for Filip Chytil (C) + 1st round pick.  Young, gangly player that has a huge upside; skill and physicality.  Currently, he plays bottom 6 C, but is projected to become 2C.  Plays a 2-way game, good skater, hard to knock off the puck.  Strong defensive game; offensive game under construction.  NY probably would counter with a 2nd rather than 1st overall.

I really like the first of the two trades. I agree NY wants to win now and with Kakko underperforming I believe they would be the ideal trading partner. They already have Fox and got him for nothing so I see a lot of leeway there.

Colorado is certainly not trading Toews given his importance.  Great contract and cost them only 2x 2nds to acquire.  Leaves Erik Johnson which makes no sense for Vancouver unless you believe Mike Chambers when he says they are looking to move Girard for a scoring forward?

At this point Girard would be better than what we have. It would give our defensive core a huge boost and I'm wondering if we could get him for a decent price.

  4. I'm wondering if Benning, out of desperation, will trade our 2022 1st round pick that will likely be a top 10 pick with many quality D in the 5 - 10 over all pick slot.

My fear is that rather than making a coaching change, he will trade assets for potential PK players and our 1st this year for a top 4 D that has been under performing on their current team. IE Derrick Pouliot

    Oops you're right, my bad.

I wouldn't want our 1st rounder moved again tbh, unless it was for the final piece we need to make a cup run. Our prospect pool is extremely dry right now.

Boeser for a shutdown defenseman and a prospect could be a good deal for us, if there's a team out there really struggling to score goals.

I don't think any team would trade a top 2 D for Boeser straight up. We would at the very least need to cough up a 2nd round pick

No chance we get a 1st and a top 2 D for Boeser.

Gotta pick one or the other. draft pick, or a Defenseman.

Even then.. At this stage I dont know if we get a 1st rounder for him straight up, given the goal scoring pace hes on this year.

I think you read that wrong. I meant we trade Boeser and our 1st this year for a top 2 D. A stronger physical defenseman. Like a Chychrun or maybe one of the Avs D since they have a lot of younger skilled D coming up and not enough cap space.

They pressure the puck carrier and are very aggressive in their own zone.

Biggest weakness of this team right now and why we see sustained pressure all the time and guys running around out of position.

I agree. We have absolutely no system in place. For the amount of offensive talent we have on this team we should be so much more cohesive.

Dolly Parton is stacked....our offense is not.

Honestly our offense is good man... we are very strong but our team is so disorganized and not cohesive at all. If we had the right system in place you would be very surprised as to how good this team could perform. That and another top 4 d.

  9. I pray to God that Benning grows some balls and fires Green and Baumgartner. Enough is enough. We have the lineup to easily make the playoffs and go far if we had the right system and coaching staff in place. The only place we lack is honestly our defense. Our offense is stacked and so is our goaltending.

  10. My good friends brother is Tanner Macmaster. He played in Utica last year and he told his brother Rathbone was unreal, by far the best defenseman at training camp. He said

he was far better than Juolevi. He also told us that at training camp the Fins were really disliked. Especially Petrus Palmu, and a month after he said that Palmu ran away back to Finland.
