  1. A huge Lions fan I know, who we tormented during 0-16 lol, thinks both Suh and Fairley are gone. If so, that's going to be damn hard to replace.

The Lions didn't pick up the contract option on Fairley, so it looks like he is also off to free agency.

  2. I'm a life long Lions fan, and was probably one of the worst calls I have ever seen. That being said, it was the Lions that could only manage one measly field goal in the 2nd half. They had many opportunities to close out this game but couldn't make it happen. Some bad penalties in the 4th quarter also did them in. Romo, overall, had a pretty mediocre game and the Lions didn't have that killer instinct. That terrible officiating decision didn't help any, but at the end of the day the Lions pissed away what should have been a win.

  3. I would really like to see what it is that makes these kids coming out of university and college think that the world will be handed to them on a silver platter. Not too long ago I was looking to hire someone in a sales position and interviewed a guy fresh out of school who sounded almost exactly like the OP. He figured he was owed $70,000 a year plus commission. I asked if he was joking and asked to explain why I should pay an unproven graduate that much. One of his reasons was he said he spoke fluent Afrikaans. Great, you speak a language in a market I have absolutely zero interest in. My HR lady and I literally laughed him out of the door. The sad thing is there are many recent graduates I have talked to who are not far off. I never went to university, so I don't know what it is that is giving all these students such unrealistic expectations. No wonder so many of them get depressed.

  4. Regarding PED abuse, there are plenty of alligations from Laraque on various unnamed players. OV was implicated as well, but that was white-washed and brushed aside. But really, you just have to open your eyes to see how players are alluvasudden full of ridiculous energy and, well, rage.

The Canucks have been benefactors from PED abuse as well btw. Quite obvious that Todd Bertuzzi's heyday was fueled by PED's. Laraque elluded to that as well by talking about those who don't perform well during Olympic years. 2005-06 was the beginning of Todd's decline, just before he was dumped out of here, and he has been a shadow of his former self ever since. Roids? 90pt tremendous power forward. No roids? 40pt vacant shell. Why? Well, the Canucks at the time desperately needed the WCE to perform at an elite level 30mins a night, or they were probably going to be forced to move down south during the NHL's Canadian dollar crisis. That is a fact - Brian Burke said a phonecall was all it would take, and buh-bye Canucks.

No, obviously I am not crying boo-hoo-hoo about the Canucks in particular. We have been part of it at times.

You are not arguing my original point with me. I'm not arguing blanket PED use in the NHL with you because I'm sure some players are getting away with it. But I still find it hard to believe that the NHL themselves are interfering with the playoffs and regular season standings to get some predetermined result to allow some teams to do better than what they should have. If the NHL hasn't learned anything from baseball turning a blind eye to PED's than they deserve what's coming to them. But can you imagine the fall out that would happen if it was discovered that the NHL was knowingly letting some teams get away with it and not others to form some sort of agenda?

  5. There are no so called 'chosen' teams that are allowed to provide any such thing to players. Not all teams are going to benefit from what you believe is happening, and if any of those other teams had even a shred of inclination of this was going on the lawyers would be swarming in New York in a pretty timely manner. The league will not risk lawsuits to favour any player or team in any way. Would it be in the league's best interest if certain teams were more successful? Of course but from a business perspective I can't see them interfering with the standings, way too risky.

  6. The MLB needed to recover financially from their labour issues.

Say... What has the NHL comparatively endured in recent years?

I told you, the PED issue is different than completely determining and controlling the outcome of your playoffs, not even a close comparison. But I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt. You are emotionally invested in a team that has continuously has failed to live up to high expectations for a very long time. For that reason you are thinking emotionally rather than logically. The league is not rigged to the degree you want to believe. The risks for the NHL far exceed the benefits. The Canucks are perennial losers and that's the fact of the matter. Hopefully for your sake soon the Canucks can win the cup so you can give your head a bit of a shake and realize how comical you theories are.

  7. Pfft... Logistics... It's not all that difficult to imagine, really. A ton of people in baseball, throughout all ranks, knew about it when that rampant PED abuse happened.

As for the NHL being rigged or having teams/players being engaged in PED abuse, you turn a blind eye when it helps you out, and those not in the loop just don't need to know.

Well, the PED issue finally did come out into the general public, but you can't even compare that. Like you said it was the MLB turning a blind eye, it wasn't them completely changing the outcome of the entire league themselves like you seem to think the NHL is doing. Completely different situations.

  8. I think a lack of a Stanley Cup is starting to scramble some people's brains. Can you imagine the logistics of trying to rig the entire league to pick and choose a winner ahead of time? The amount of people that would have to be involved and have everything fall in place to achieve something at this level is near impossible, not to mention that the staggering amount of people involved would somehow have to keep their mouths shut. I can't see the NHL risking multiple fraud charges and class action lawsuits to screw over Canadian teams from winning the Stanley Cup.

  9. You are too close to the source and that makes it too easy to self loathe. Spend any time in any hockey hotbed and you will find the same thing. There will always be some that take things too far.

I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy. When this happens in another city, posters on CDC are the first to point the finger and accuse other fans for their lack of class. But when it happens here the acts are somehow defended and justified.

  10. Well mr goon, thanks for telling us you won't be here much. Can't really blame the people of Vancouver after you decided to go to the busiest club/bar after a blowout game to 'blow off steam'...sounds more like you were looking to get into trouble with those words but hey, it must suck not being wanted in Vancouver where you're practically born from.

It's people like you who are probably the first to make a stink when this sort of thing happens to a Canuck after an away game. Canucks fans are always complaining about the lack of class other fans have, but yet another example of how fans in Vancouver are the the ones with the least class. Keep it up Canucks fans
