  1. to be fair, i enjoy the occasional FPS TPS as much as anyone (Metroid prime and Other M respectively) but for me (opinion) the Mario franchise usually delivers a much more polished and fun experience than anything I've experienced on any other console.

Fair enough, can't argue with your opinion. I also don't want to cause this thread to degrade into a pointless console war.

Just don't like the generalization that console gamers are angry teenagers yelling racist slurs over xbox live and shelling out $60 every month for a Call of Duty clone.

  2. what AAA releases on the system you own are not FPSs? just curious.

I'll stick to what could be considered AAA (hard to define)

    Assassin's Creed II

    Assassin's Creed III

    Bioshock 2

    Borderlands 2

    Deus Ex: Human Revolution

    Dragon Age: Origins

    Skyrim

    Fallout 3

    Fallout: New Vegas

    Gears of War 3

    Grand Theft Auto IV

    LA Noire

    Mass Effect 1/2/3

    Max Payne 3

    Red Dead Redemption

    Resident Evil 5/6

There's more but probably not under the category of AAA

Edit: For the record (not that it should matter) I've never bought a Halo, CoD, Battlefield, or MoH game and yet I still constantly have a new game to play on my 360

  3. and yet I enjoy it more than anything offered up on other consoles (basically a nonstop barrage of FPSs...)

Definitely correct. You've cracked the code. Just a bunch of first person shooters. Anyone who plays games on a 360/ps3 is just a sheep gamer buying whatever Activision shoves down our throats.

The cases for all the games I own sure are misleading...

  4. agreed wholeheartedly, but the kid wanted "mature" games. It's funny, I only craved those games when I was a kid, when I actually grew up the gameplay became more important than anything else. the 2 games I'm getting at launch (in addition to the included Nintendoland, which also looks like a lot of fun) is New Super Mario Brothers U, and ZombiU. I guess I still like a little of both, but I expect to have the most fun with NSMBU, if I'm being perfectly honest. then again, I still love zombies, which is the real draw for zombiU (as is the gameplay which is completely unique and intriguing)

While obviously how much someone enjoys a game is based on the person, it kinda seems hard to make a case for Super Mario Bros having superior (or more orignal depending on how you define better) gameplay mechanics than many, or really any, of the AAA releases for the other consoles.

  5. #1 People shouldn't be taking that $800 figure seriously. OP basically pulled that out of his ass. I've heard/read rumors that the next gen will drop for comparable or less than what the 360 came out at (heard as low as $399).

#2 How could you say that it's not time for a new generation of consoles. The lifespan of the 360 / ps3 is by far the longest of any console ever. It's pretty much only alive now because it's been artificially extended by online content etc. The hardware for the current gen consoles (especially the 360) is severely limiting what devs can do with games nowadays. It`s time to expand that. Not to mention Microsoft wants to turn the new xbox into a one stop shop for all things entertainment.

However, backwards compatability is a HUGE deal for me. I have never traded in a game in my entire life and still own every game i've ever bought. I love dusting off old favourite years down the road and re-enjoying them. And it's pretty damn obvious my 360 won't last forever so there better be backwards compatability. Huge slap in my face if there isn't.

  6. Sorry no time to read all 35 pages and just discovered this thread!

    Anyone having glitch issues?

I have this game on PS3 and I can no longer talk to characters in the game. Can't sell weapons, items, etc. Totally can't play unless the new patch fixes this and it is really pissing me off!

Anyone know when 1.3 is coming out for the consoles?

Exact same thing happened to my friend in his 115 hour playthrough. Completely broke his game.

Needless to say he's never playing it again.

I don't think I could come back from that either.

  7. I'm getting frustrated with some of the dengeons, and meaninglesd turning of stones.. Or coming across vampires or mages that kill you with 1 hit .

Are you using a magey character?

Trying chucking on some heavy armor. My battlemage has never been one shot killed and hes just decked out with heavy armor enchanted with magicka buffs.

Robes are essentially pointless in this game. It makes you too squishy.

  8. Lol it really took me 3 hours.

Smithing- get 10-11k then buy iron ingots and leather strips and just keep smithing daggers.

Speech you go to a guy in rifton and keep persauding him, it will cost 70 gold each time, then just pickpocket your money back. Make sure you save just before.

Your sneak will go up in time, just keep doing what your doing.

Is it really that fun to just grind the sh*t out of skills like that?

It kinda seems like it would defeat the purpose of the entire game. Why bother smithing a trillion daggers (which is extremely boring) and then run around as a godly damage sponge in daedric armor from the beginning of the game?

Why break the leveling system when you could do it by just playing through this amazing game?

To each his own I guess.

  9. Quick Questions here...

Does this game feel similar to Fable? (I used to love Fable)

How big is the world? (Friend of mine said it's HUGE)

Is it living up to the hype? (Biggest Hype I've seen since RDR, RDR=Red Dead Redemption)

Are the graphics good? (RDR had some of the best graphics ever)

Which is better: RDR or Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim?

    1. No, it's nothing like fable. Fable turned in to more of an Action Adventure while Skyrim is a full-fledged RPG

2.It's massive. It might not be the largest in terms of sheer size of any game that I've played. In terms of actual content (eg. quests, dungeons etc.)it's second to none. Without question.

    3. Some issues such as clunky menues (the perks menu and the favourites system) for consoles, texture problems and a crappy map keep it from being a perfect game. That being said, overall it lives up to the hype of being one crazy big open world RPG that's always loads of fun and never feels like a grind to get through.

    4. The graphics are good. A huge step up. They aren't amazing however. Things are best viewed from a distance or flaws become rather evident (eg. look at a tree up close to see that it's a blocky mass of polygons).

    5. Skyrim. Hands down. And I loved RDR

  10. What's this like? I've heard the visuals aren't too great. I'm probably going to end up renting it once my essays are all handed in this week.

    Lol.

Renting this game would be like buying a ticket to the Louvre for 5 minutes.

Unless of course you just plan to rip through the main story in which case you probably just shouldn't play it at all.
