  1. You remind me of an Minnesota couple visiting the city, riding the Canada Line this past summer. A local started a conversation with them, and then asked their perspective on Obama's health care plan. Their response was: "Well, you must know what it's like up here"....inferring that what right-wing pundits in the states were saying about "socialist" Canadian health care were all true. In other words, left-wing paranoia about the corporate boogeyman; right-wing paranoia about government intervention that will lead to communism or whatever. Obviously, with narrow-minded extremists like yourself you'd never be able to see a middle ground.

P3's work. Simple as that. There's a huge grey area when it comes to health care, but when it comes to rail transport it absolutely works if done correctly. Not even sure why you brought up health care as it's an absolutely different and much more complex P3 structure.

I care little about profits going out, rather I care about the actual service and end result. The Canada Line P3 clearly does not work, but it does not mean all P3's are flawed.

I love how your "critical" assessment of biases is positioned within a false dichotomy. It is not only ironic that self proclaimed "centrists" like yourself place your views within this framework - it is outright hypocritical.

  2. You people are simply, and sadly, hopeless to be even against surveillance on transit - the simplest of security measures. So because there's only a few incidents a year, nothing shouldn't be done? We should just cross our arms, and say "we're awesome, nothing needs to be done". The article I posted mentioned that expensive measures would not be warranted. While CCTV has a capital cost, it has a very, very low operational cost.

I'm going to leave it at that, I refuse to waste any more time arguing with you.

Rabble Rabble Rabble! Freedoms! Rights! Screw logistics!

Did I say that? Or did I say you were subscribing to the lowest common denominator through the use of fear as a justification.

Whatever man, I'm sick of reading the typical BS posted from you. Not a critical thought in your brain - unless we count the problem with small signage at transit.

  3. ^ if you ever get mugged or attacked while on a transit system without CCTV or any witnesses and can't remember how he/she looked like, don't complain if there aren't any CCTV cameras around to catch his face.

I'd also propose to send you all of SkyTrain's (and bus) grafitti removal and vandalism repair bills.

I am all for increased surveillance on transit.

    Boohoo for you.

Fear based logic! Now all the cliches are complete.

  4. lol, never. Not here. People don't know how to pack here....and thankfully they don't as a lot smell quite awful. The Japanese, Koreans, and Hong Kongers/Chinese tend to have a much better hygiene. I recall a First Nations couple boarding the train even though it was packed to the door. They smelled gawd awful, and several people made grimaces and left the train to board the train behind it. That's just one of many "bad smell" occurrences I've had...most others involved homeless people on buses and trains.

Maybe you should stick to cutting and pasting articles sparky.

  5. Not gonna get into an in-depth discussion about economics. But there is a huge difference between people taking the train and people driving. When you take the train you don't have extra room for groceries, extra room to put items purchased while shopping, you're not paying for gas, you're not paying for a car, you're not getting it maintained. All those things plus many more stimulate the economy and create jobs. Not to mention driving gives you the freedom to go wherever you want (within reason).

And as for agricultural land, we've pretty much developed all the land that is able to sustain agriculture (the majority being in the lower mainland and in northern BC east of the rockies). None of it needs to get removed though. The sprawl can take place deeper into the forests and hills.

    You're a moron.
