  1. Um, no. The supporters have been in the South side (hence the name Southsiders) since the Swanguard days on the bleachers. The Southsiders were founded in 1999.

They designated the North end of the stadium the family section because it was furthest away from the rowdy supporters groups, as well as being cheaper than center-field seats, making it more affordable for families.

There are other smaller supporters groups. This year they decided that only the south end would be used as a supporters section

  2. Orly? That's not why he has been voted for most Gentleman like player of the year for 8 straight years. You're either a mad Rafa or Djokovic fan. Roger is by far the most classiest player on tour.

I am a Djokovic fan, but I have nothing to be mad about. I've just seen enough of Roger's post-match interviews to notice that he avoids giving other (at least established) players credit when he loses, unlike Nadal and Djokovic who are very quick to praise their opponent win or lose. They have more class than Roger can even dream of.

He's a great player but he absolutely cannot handle losses. Losing to Djokovic 2009 in Miami:

"But, I mean, it's the same thing for both players. Once one guy gets the upper hand, the other guy is a bit uncertain. It's tough, but he struggled bigtime in the first set.

So, you know, I finished worse than him. He played so bad in the first set, I had a great effort by finishing even worse than him. It was good."

    Class.

There's also dodging compulsory military service because he has a bad back. I just have to question how he can be such a dominating player while being too injured to live up to his duty as a Swiss citizen.

Here's one about something that doesn't concern him in the slightest:

    http://www.telegraph...er-Federer.html

Like I said, he's a great player and nobody can deny that. I think very little of him as a person though. His whole "nice guy" imagine looks incredibly manufactured and fake. Look just a tiny bit beneath it and he comes off as really bitter and snobby

  3. Roger is nice and humble when he's winning. When he loses he's pissy and cries about the way his opponent plays, rarely gives credit to his opponents, talks crap about others and things that don't concern him in the slightest

  4. No, I gurantee he will win, to question him not winning blows my mind. Melzer has played well, but Raonic has played on another level. There's a reason why he is 15-1 so far.

The reason being that he's only played small tournaments in which he's only played 2 top 10 players which aren't much of a threat at all (Almagro and Tipsarevic). Almagro's never done much away from a clay court and Tipsarevic is good but incredibly inconsistent.

  5. The ranking system is all the points you've acumulated from tournaments over the past 12 months. He made it to the 4th round last year, so that was 180 points. The points from the australian open are basically replaced by the points he got this year.. Since he only made it to the 3rd round this year, he only earned 90 points. So since he did worse than last year, he actually effectively lost 90 points

  6. Djokovic definitely looks more comfortable than Murray, but they're both committing a lot more unforced errors than I'd expect from either of them.

Nole breaks to start the 2nd set!

  7. That's what I like about the women's game - if a player is down a couple points on serve they can't just ace their way out of it. They have to fight through and string together some good rallies. I got really pissed off watching John Isner serve 40+ aces. It was boring.

Kvitova is a good server though. Up a break on Sharapova

I don't like watching players who just rely on their serve either (like Karlovic or Isner), but that's not really what I meant. They just don't have any consistency at all. The double fault count is very high way too often and especially on big points. Guys like Federer and Djokovic for example don't have the best serves and certainly don't rely on them to win, but they still have the serve as a weapon. They're capable of digging deep and pulling out a huge serve when necessary. Part of that is their skill and part of it is mental strength. I find that many of the women currently on tour lack the latter and as a result their serves are a liability instead of an advantage

  8. Sharapova breaks Kvitova, gets broken back, and then re-breaks again. Someone wanna hold serve?

It's womens tennis.. Holding serve is the equivalent of breaking serve in the mens game, at least for this crop of players

  9. The Southsiders sit in the south side (hence the name), and they're off to the side instead of directly behind the net because of the way the Whitecaps decided to price the tickets. They're in a cheaper section so that they wouldn't exclude people who can't pay for more expensive seats. You keep referring to it as the "far corner" though.. It was only that because of where you sat. The Timbers Army were in the "far corner" for everyone who sat near the Southsiders, so I'm not really sure what you mean by that

The Caps "dominated" possession (almost 62%) but they couldn't create anything out of it. For a good part of the match it looked like most of the players have never played with each other before. They looked like they didn't have any chemistry at all

  10. that's not really the real reason though..

They have entire upper half of 1 section occupied, i guess at least 200+ fans there.. All dressed up and prepared to take the house down. The sign, dance for ENTIRE game. On the other hand, the Southsiders are sitting are the far far corner and I could barely hear them. (i sat near the corner flag, the lower section of the same one where the Timer fans were). To be honest with you, the Timber fans are really passionate and they were friendly too. One thing that surprised me was that they cheered when we sang the Canadian anthem. I met a few of them at the food stand and they were all friendly. The stadium itself is nice, very clean and u can see high LCD tv everywhere. on the other hand, the turf sucks.. seems like they can do a lot better than that. I took a lot of picture of the stadium, anyone wants me to post them?

That's a big part of why they come through clearer on TV though. I was in section 230 (same end as the timbers army but other corner) and the Southsiders seemed to start off a bit slow but really picked it up during the first half. In the 2nd half things were pretty dead though. I guess that's what happens when your team looks like they aren't putting any effort in at all

  11. Nobody has anything to say about Djokovic's incredible 37 match streak to start the season (39 overall)? Not to mention being the only player to beat Nadal on clay twice in the same year
