I know what you mean. I've never actually seen a game in HD, so I don't have much to compare to, but seeing the puck on a standard screen can be tricky. Although the purist hockey fan should be able mentally fill everything in from the audio and player movement, I can totally understand how new fans could be frustrated.

Fox blew it by making everything too colourful and explosive. The distracting neon glow and brilliant flashes of light led to widespread condemnation. It could have worked if they used the technology to just make the puck a little bigger. A subtle change, but one that new users would appreciate, and purists could handle.
