  1. The rule states that incidental contact will result in no goal. Not sure how you missed that.

Like I've been saying, the puck only goes across the line because Williams pushes Stalock's pads with his stick. He never makes contact with the puck from all the replay angles the broadcast showed. I have no problem with the whistle not being blown but the goal was scored as a result of direct contact from Williams's stick with the goalie. Even that blind idiot Kerry Fraser can see that.

Frankly, even if there isn't an explicit rule against it, this sort of goal shouldn't be legal. You shouldn't be able to score a goal by shoving the goalie until the puck goes in.

Whatever, the Sharks can only blame themselves for having to play a Game 6 in the first place, never mind giving up 2 more goals afterwards.

Well, I disagree with you...but, I appreciate what you're trying to say.... :towel:

  2. Like I said, Stalock was pushed into the net along with the puck. The whole issue has nothing to do with the puck being loose. What part of that statement did you miss?

The goal should've been waved off as soon as the puck went in. If the puck goes in legally, let it count. This wasn't a legal goal unless pitchforking the goalie until the puck crosses the line is somehow no longer considered goaltender interference.

And don't accuse me of being biased because I wanted the Sharks to choke. Read the rule, too:

Incidental contact, at best. He was not shoved full bore into the net. In fact, he was actually moved into the post, not the net (watch the replay). The goal was the incidental part of a legal play/scrum for a loose puck. The ref did an A+++ job being in the right position the entire time to see the puck and the play as it evolved. As bad as we all complain about the refs, he was in the absolute best position to see the entire play. All kudos to him.

The only whining from the SJBabies bench was based on the thought that Stalock at it covered, as Cheatin' Joe Thornton admitted in the post game himself. There was no complaining about him being pushed into the net. They thought the puck was covered. So did Drew Remenda, as he whined himself through the last ten mins of the game and post-game. They didn't have the right angle, nor see that the puck was loose. Had they, there would have been no complain, even from that bunch of babies.

You're trying to hang on to a weak technicality, which no one is even disputing.

  3. Say what you want about the kings. Nothing satisfies me more than to watch the biggest diving whining losers in the entire league lose. The sharks make the bruins look like poster boys. They can go eff themselves.

Its unreal to me that Canucks fans don't see this en masse.

Diving Logan Couture during first intermission..."we need to draw penalites in the second". They whine (the puck was lose girls...the second goal was totally legit), they cry (poor Joey Thornton runs over Drew Doughty, while Todd McClellan is still screaming like a girl on the bench), they scratch (Logan trying to fight for the first time in, what...years? in the third...Andrew Desjardins doing the same and getting his a** handed to him in the first)...this team is the epitome of trash.

Garbage team and franchise, all the way up to their crybaby homer announcers. Total trailer trash.

They deserve the distinction of blowing a 3-0 lead.

  4. So it's legal to push the goalie into the net with your stick? And don't say "but Stalock never entered the net". The puck doesn't go in if Williams doesn't push Stalock. Simple as that. It's goalie interference.

The puck being loose was never the focal point of the outrage.

The ref was staring right at the puck! What is he supposed to do? Blow the whistle because, despite the puck being lose at the goaltenders skate, the possibility exists that he may be pushed into the net?

Of all the phony controversies. The puck was loose. End of story.

  5. A week ago, I was all Dal Colle. Now, I'm warming up to Ritchie. Either could potentially compliment Kesler and Higgins, though beginning to believe the latter can contribute more quickly and has demonstrated his defensive skills. Unsure whether Ehlers tops these two. Lots of time though to keep digging.

  6. Um ok there. So you saw their wowys then I'm guessing, cause your argument keeps changing.

Simple fact, his #'s are better without Ricardson. Time to #moveon

You're still wrong. Any, my argument never changed. You're defining things purely on offensive output, rather than defensive efficiency. And, if you saw Richardson's player usage chart, and understood what that meant, you'd get it.

  7. I've already provided it. Take a look at their WOWYs.

You're missing the point. Richardson is asked to do one thing. Its no duh that if you pair a guy like Kassian with him, and wish to evaluate his relative offensive output, that you will see it decline.

But, that alone, doesn't make your point.

  8. Not necessarily, I'm happy to play nice. But, if you've got some overwhelming case to backup your evaluation of Kass vs. Richie, in proper context, I'm all eyes.

I'll double up by saying that there is no reason that Kassian and Richardson should be playing together on the same line. That doesn't compromise one's performance vs. the other. To the contrary, they, and Booth, have been our best two-way line for the last month. Slagging one versus the other, however, was wrong on your part. And, Richie isn't a 13th forward, by any reasonable measure. In fact, he has saved our a**es this year from making this whole thing worse.

    My Goodness....good on you Ryan....

  9. I don't follow? Am I also still supposed to be laughing at your crack pipe comment as well?

Not necessarily, I'm happy to play nice. But, if you've got some overwhelming case to backup your evaluation of Kass vs. Richie, in proper context, I'm all eyes.

  10. I hope the Canucks all line up and shake Smyth's hand at the end of this.

It would be a nice touch to have Linden come down too.

Linden is in YVR....but, otherwise, yeah the Phlegms did it for Trevor, and it would be very classy.

  11. Yes, I am aware. But when the rookie is carrying the veteran on his line, it's time to think about giving him an upgrade.

Still laughing and waiting for your big statistical opus on Kassian the Omnipotent...take your time.

  12. Can't critique Markstrom's game too harshly.

This is what happens when a goalie hasn;t played in over a month, and has a team in front of him that has quit.

I hear ya, but he sure looks like a guy trying really hard to "show" the coaching staff he's thinking about all of the things they are trying to get him to do. Looks forced, instead of instinctive....not a good thing for a goalie, no?

  13. Nothing funnier than statements like this, when I get to write the reality:

Starting a lot of shifts in your own zone does not qualify as 'hard mins'. He pays against the oppoents bottom 6 every night, Edler plays against the top 6. Major difference.

Also Richardson zone adjusted advanced stats are still terrible. I like the guy, think he's a great 4C, or 13th forward. But Kassian has better #'s without Richardson, than 'with' Richardson. It's not my opinion, it's the facts

You're seeing what you want to see. That's fine. But, that's not fact. Kassian has been sheltered as much as possible. Richardson, aside from playing #1 PP line, is asked to play defense.

If you want to make your statistical case, and laugh while you're doing it, go for it.

  14. You think Richardson is their best defensive forward? Sorry man, but he's one of their worst via advanced stats. Kassian carries Richardson - their WOWYs tell the story. Kassian pretty much carries everyone he plays with (short of Sedins). He's a ply driver, Richardson drags him down.

I do agree Kass's defensive play has got better. But I've argued his defensive play got better last season under AV (towards the end of the season). I'm a big fan of this kid, would love to see him have better linemates.

Put the crack pipe down. Richardson carries more ridiculously hard minutes and defensive zone starts than Edler's +/-.
