  1. I wonder if Benning knew that Virtanen was a close call and made sure that he had a spot by holding Horvat on the big club? Maybe he thought that Horvat already has a taste of the WJs and now it's Virtanens turn.

I can't see Horvat having bumped Virt considering team Canada is short on right wingers, Gauthier or Paul would have likely been the one to go if Horvat was allowed to play in the WJC.

  2. I was a Horvat Nay Sayer. I was one of those guys who said send him back, but tonight he was extremely impressive. extremely impressive. Will is going to have a tough decision.

He was so good tonight, I was 100% sure when Horvat was out there, the Hawks weren't going to score on us.

I will love to see him get loaned still.

Personally I will love to see him Virtannen McCann and Suban go to war for team Canada.

How cool would a McCann-Horvat-Virtannen line as the WJC be? :)

  3. It would be a waste to send him back to that toxic dressing room in London and play 2c on a team that'll disappoint just like last year. He's not going to suddenly put up 50goals and get a sixth gear like you all want to believe. Defensive and 2way centers can develope just fine playing 4th line minutes. We will be hit hard with injuries thru out the year, he will be needed.

Does anyone remember did Kesler start on the 4th line or 3rd line as a rookie. Loved watching Horvat beat Kesler on the faceoffs last night.

  4. We're not giving Bo 10+ minutes just to evaluate him when he hasn't earned it.

And I'm thinking DeFazio again and Jensen will be an injury call up for the top 9.

After last night I would say he's now earned it.

  5. At least one of Vey/Matthias can and likely will be playing on their respective wings.

I could easily see either of:

    Sedin, Sedin, Vrbata

    Burrows, Bonino, Kassian

    Higgins, Horvat, Vey

    Matthias, Richardson, Hansen

    Dorsett

or if the young guys need a bit more sheltering:

    Sedin, Sedin, Vrbata

    Burrows, Bonino, Kassian

    Higgins, Richardson, Hansen

    Matthias, Horvat, Vey

    Dorsett

    Horvat can also play LW.

  6. I think the show's producers have erred a bit with Shae.

It certainly looks as though she's now being portayed as nothing but a gold digger, but it begs the question: Why didn't she accept the diamonds that Varys offered her in return for leaving King's Landing?

maybe she's more into power than gold, although I secertly think was she acting to protect Tyrion somehow. Regardless of her role in the show, I think we can all agree she was hot and its too bad they killed her charector off.

  7. i thought tyrion's scene was great, and I could easily tell he did it for the years of neglect and hatred from his father always wanting him dead. the sentence/Shae turning on him was merely the metaphorical straw breaking the camel's back. I thought this was well portrayed.

I have no clue who Tysha is, and her being brought up in that series of events would have been completely idiotic. was she even mentioned beyond a throw away line? I don't think they even mentioned her by name, and if they did it sure didn't stand out... at all.

Agreed. The Shae and Tyrion storey line is possibly my favourite of the show. I am hoping next season we will find out Shae was forced to testify against Tyrion, as I really want to still like her plus the regret of killing her will add let another layer to Tyrions charector.

  8. It was them and McDavid for the most part. They had some bright spots but didn't do much at all other times. They certainly weren't so amazing I'd think we'd want to draft Reinhart to pair them together.

I think simply the fact that Reinhart was the forward from this draft year to make team Canada speaks to how much better he is than the other prospects. Team Canada seems to love this guy, he was even invited to the World Champ Men's tourny this year.

  9. I assumed the giants were told what to do with the mammoth by the man jon is going to go kill, and that they are not the brightest. and as a non-book reader I had no problem understanding the layout of the castle.

I enjoyed Sundays show alot but have to admit both my wife and I were a little confused by the layout of the castle. Once I have figured it out I was also thinking get more men downstairs, especially since as Jon said it takes days to scale the wall and they had that ice shaver thing.

  10. Throwing him into the NHL just because isn't the best way to develop a player.

Ritchie still has improvements to be made, again consistency, he's not consistency a dominant player at the Junior level like he could be. So how would he magically (when thrown into the NHL fire) be a consistent contributor, and with a player like him you don't want to just throw him on the 4th line, you want him to be playing and experiencing being a go-to guy. Being a leader on his team, being an important piece in playoff runs, World Junior's, exc.

Aswell as things like skating (not that its a weakness, but you could always improve) and just maturing.

I don't think anyone we draft unless we somehow end up with Ekblad should be in the NHL next season. Whoever we pick we need this player to turn out, no need to rush them.

Kovalchuk & Ovechkin (generational talents) are the only ones who aren't slow. Ritchie could play at 230 but he would be better served getting lighter like Kassian did IMO.

Did you just seriously call Jagr slow?

  11. 2nd/3rd liner IMO.

Duchene is #1. Stastny is capable of #1/2. ROR is #2/3.

ROR could be a #1 on a worse team, but to be a playoff team that is contending for a cup, ROR is probably at best #2.

Don't catch a ton of Av's games, is MacKinnon playing on the wing?
