  1. What I dont get is if he had wanted ice time why didn't he just stay in Anaheim? I mean their top D is Beauchemin and Lydman. You got defenders like Sbisa, Fowler and Vatenen to grow with and unlike the oilers they have proven talent up front in Ryan Perry and Getzlaf.

You don't need to live in a city with -30 weather to get ice time.

  2. Yup, his team which is our Rival won 4-1. Rodin our superman had 0 points, didn't watch the game.... MPS his measuring stick had 3 points.

Yea we should've drafted MPS

Since when are top 10 draft selections a measuring stick for late second rounders?

  3. I'm guessing the guy who started this thread is really fed up with seeing it continue like this...

    I LOVE IT!!!!!

I am the glad the mods decide to keep this thread.. it really serves as an example to people who start threads out of blind hate for a player.

clutch..i tot you know your hockey??

  4. What is so special about Hansen? Players of his caliber are easily available. he has third line potential written all over him, nothing more. If i recall correctly, Edler's coach was a friend of Gradin, and alerted him that Red wings were coming to scout Edler.

It's not that Hansen is destined for super stardom, it's the fact that he's one of the last 9th rounders and is an NHL player right now. If we could draft someone like Hansen every late round, it goes a long way to building organizational depth.

Rahimi, Froshaug are also credited with being Gradin specials. sine 94 when he signed on with Vancouver, these are the players Gradin has delivered.

This hype given to Gradin can be warranted if he is able to deliver another player of edler's potential. Till then lets at least try and be objective.

I agree to an extent, he's a good scout, but I wouldn't classify him as "great" yet in my books. The praising is largely due to the fact that he has actually delivered some promising talent with the prospects from the area he is responsible for. When that contrasts with the incompetence of our scouting in other areas, he's made to look really good in comparison.

Overrated? Sure by some on this board. Competent? I would say so, unless we are proven otherwise with a string of busts.

  5. I wonder if Clutch will come up with another thread like this next season

Hopefully, not only did this thread let a lot of CDC'ers vent out their anger, but Burrows scored an improbable 28 goals.

Clutch, could you make a thread saying how Raymond, Hansen, Hodgson, Rypien and bascially everyone on the roster are useless?

  6. I love this thread. I'd rather not read through 65 pages though. Does anyone know if the OP ever admitted he was wrong about Burrows? By the way I agree with some of the critics that Burrows does stupid stuff from time to time like the hairpulling and the shot from the bench and I'd probably hate him if he wasn't on our team. However if there was a trophy for top pest in the league he'd win it and besides that he is making a major offensive contribution.

    Go Burrows, Go 'nucks

his stupid penalty cost us the game

    Note the date.

That's why this thread still exists.

  7. ^^^ he sure is

GOD i love it. he's like, CDC's anti-hero or like CDC's Dr. Evil

lol you got to respect his resilience and no backing down lol... kind of like what Burrows does on the ice.

it's like Burrows is playing the way he is just to piss clutch off... we really should keep this thread going for 4 years haha.

  8. I'm starting to think all the Alex Burrows band wagoners are getting out of control.

Nobody can say A.Burrows has had a poor season but lets get real here you guys.

This is probably a prime example of a flukey season and I know for a fact A.Burrows

will not be able to keep this pace going into next year and the years after.

No you don't, and even if he only pops in 15 next year his salary still makes him worth it.

And the flukey season crap, sounds a lot like what people said about Bieksa 2 years ago.

I like A.Burrows work ethic but thats just about it. Now that he's on the 1st line, he's started

to lax off by not playing the gritty style that made him an asset to the canucks.

Wrong, he still registered 3 takeaways yesterday.

I'm gonna be blunt and it might hurt some of your feelings but its the truth Burrows is a one trick pony.

If you've looked most of his goals 90% of them are garbage goals reminiscent of A.Carter

Really? Show us the 18 goals that he put into an open net by waiting at the side of net?

Off the top of my head 4 or 5 of them were tip ins, 3 or 4 of them were shorthanded... another handful is by deking out the goalie.... 4 or 5 with a slapshot.... he scores all kinds of goals....haven't seen anson carter do that.

Once Burrows begins to struggle you'll all start to turn on him but don't tell me I didn't tell you so

And A.Burrows is not a $2 million dollar player 1.2.-1.3 MAX.

Who the frack do you think you are? why the frack would we care if you have told us so or not?

  9. Ok 23 goals with the sedins. Of course burrows is going to get points with them. Vignault had to put him with them cause he took kesler away from him. he'd be nothing without kesler. Vignault got french love for him.

    Haha...

AV put Burrows with the Sedins because he is effective with the Sedins. If Burrows really was having Kesler carry him on his back and dragging the line down, it wouldn't make much sense now to put that "line cancer" on our top line now would it?

And you claim you know hockey...

  10. wow burrows is getting points with the sedins "Amazing"! There's a real shocker.

OMG clutch where've you been? That piece of garbage just got a 4 year extension... anything to say about that?

Or are you ready to admit that piece of garbage is actually better than you will ever dream to be and that would make you... well... worse than a piece of garbage?

Didn't Pyat get 26 goals last season?

He had 16 last year, 23 the year before, 37 points both years in a full season. Burrows already has 35 points.

Kudos for making absolutely hilarious comments then having the "guts" to stick to it. You provide tremendous comic relief for the CDC mass who are bored after the trade deadline.

  11. great line, its completed. and true. even without hansen.

Yea without Hansen, Kesler and Burrows are still amazing defensively (as can be seen by their takeaway numbers), but Hansen is the missing piece that makes this line truly dynamic at both ends of the ice. You have got to appreciate the tenacity and speed that Hansen brings to the line.

Now if Demitra is the solution to the missing piece on the Sedins line...

  12. I know allot of people are going to scorch me for this but I fail to see the reason why nobody questions his ability to play in the nhl.....He can't score and i'm tired of kesler carrying this guy on his back night after night, I'm tired of him losing the puck...IMOP he's an embarrassment to the team. Please Gillis let this guy go keep Krog or Pettinger or Brown whoever. let er rip.

    My favourite parts.

    Poor clutch.

  13. Ouch. I'm glad no one found my post from the summer stating that the stock marked was destined to stay strong all year...

Don't worry, this thread still tops your post on the worst prediction/statement of the year... by a long shot.

  14. lol

armchair gm's from b.c. that probably never stepped on the ice make me laugh.

Ive watched and played hockey all my life and i know garbage when i see it.

And somehow Nonis, AV, Gillis and the whole of Canucks management doesn't?

Yet he is in the NHL and you are not... if he is garbage, what does that make you?

It just goes to show how mixed up vancouver canuck fans are when it comes to hockey. most of you should try playing the game before thinking your experts by watching it.

and how do you know people reply/commenting on your post hasn't played more hockey than you? Just because people disagree with what you have to say, you are going to conclude that they have an inferior hockey knowledge than you?

Your opinion: Burrows does not belong in the NHL and is garbage.

AV, Nonis, Gillis' opinion: Burrows is likely to make the team and will play a huge role in PK, 5 on 5, and grit.

    Conclusion: Clutch > Canucks Management

Damn i think you should apply for a job in the organization. Tell us how it goes, make us CDC users proud.

  15. I know allot of people are going to scorch me for this but I fail to see the reason why nobody questions his ability to play in the nhl. Every game i watch with him in the lineup(all of them) I find myself screaming at the tv because of the stupid stuff the guy does. Personally i'd rather have any of the guys that are fighting for a spot on the team rather than burrows.

    ...What?

You would rather have Cowan over him?

Everyone's #1 reason they like this guy from what I read on this forum "He's great on the pk. Who cares! Anyone can do this thats fighting for a spot.

    Nope.

    He can't score

and the likes of brown rypien and cowan can?

Led the team in shorthanded goals last year.

and i'm tired of kesler carrying this guy on his back night after night, I'm tired of him losing the puck, falling down everywhere seriously this guy falls down a hundred times a night can't he skate its ridiculous, stupid penalties its endless. "He plays with grit" is another common description tossed out when his name comes up. That ok sure he pisses off guys but fails to do really be able finish that job off by being able to fight because he can't. IMOP he's an embarrassment to the team. Please Gillis let this guy go keep Krog or Pettinger or Brown whoever. let er rip.

    haha
