  1. The Bruins, we're told by a well-placed informant, are talking with "two West Coast" clubs about a deal for unsigned Group II winger Phil Kessel. B's are allegedly seeking a young roster player, a prospect and a first-rounder.

    It doesn't makes sense for the canucks to go after him so I doubt we're one of the West Coast clubs.

  2. Hey all, Hockey Insider here;

    I was working all day on the Kessel-Bruins situation and finally at the end of the day I got something that made it worth my while, this is what I can tell you,

    The Bruins are indeed trying to swing a deal to free up cap space to re-sign Kessel, I have been told Sturm and Bergeron could end up in a deal to free up the space, still not sure if both will be in a deal or just one, but I will work on that. I personally think trading Bergeron isn't that bad once you think about it. Yes he is a great player, but even without him for a 20 game span last year the Bruins played very well. I may be wrong here, but I even think he was on the 3rd line for a bit of the season. It's the fact he is being paid $5 million this year and almost $6 million next year where it really hurts the Bruins. Is paying a player $5-6 million a year worth 39 points in 64 games (and only 8 goals) really worth it? Many would agree with me and say "I think not", but we also have to give him a break as he was coming off a pretty bad injury. I really don't want to be in Chiarelli's boots at this time. Sturm on the other hand makes more sense to deal to free up some space, but to sign Kessel it would take more than just dealing him, they would still be around the cap or a little over. I will keep working on this story for you all.

    Thats all for now, until next time;

    Sounds interesting.
