  1.

Interesting idea for Virtanen to go to Utica. Maybe if they get to the next round he will be sent there to soak up the atmosphere. But I can't see him playing given the importance of every game at this stage in the season.

Its a developmental league afterall. If they get past the first round, Benning will put presure on Travis Green to play him

  2.

Virtanen's speed and physical game just became that much more vital for our retooling process.

Tonight the Canucks showed that they couldn't keep up with the speed of the Flames, Virtanen, Shinkaruk, Baertschi, are that much more important to this team going forward

Don't forgot Mccann can skate too. Right now Bonnino doesnt' look anything like a 2nd line center

  3.

I'm watching the Canucks game today and I don't have DVR... they just interviewed Jake Virtanen and I swear the sportsnet caption said "Jack Virtanen". Can anyone verify this?

I just checked as I have DVR. You are correct the caption did say "Jack." A fail by whoever made that mistake.

  4.

Ottawa plays the Islanders tomorrow. They should easily be able to win that.

Carolina plays the Rangers tomorrow. Since the Rangers just clinched today, I see them resting some players especially against a weaker team (maybe they rest Lundqvist?).

If both of those teams get two points, it would push the Canucks down to seventh. It just sucks Winnipeg couldn't win today.

Why would the Rangers rest their players. They are trying to get home ice, only 2 points up on Flyers

  5.

    Ehlers or Virtanen or Perlini

I'm not really impressed by Ritchie Bennett Dal Colle Draitsaitl Fleury they all seem to not have the offensive explosive quick hands and skating that we finally need in prospect there more two way expect for Bennett perhaps, no more hodgsons schroeders horvats gaunces cassels we need a high end offensive forward who play at a high speed.

What abut Perlini's poor playoff? 1 assit in 7 games.

  6. We need Anaheim to play play LA in the first round. Even though the Ducks have done well against LA in the regular season, we all know LA is a different animal in the playoffs. The Kings have great center depth with Kopitar, Richards and Stoll. Ducks have Getzlaf and Boninno? Ducks will come begging for Kesler in the summer.

  7. It was only a matter of time before he figured it out. I know I'm looking ahead but I hope these are the lines next season. Sedin - Sedin - Burrows Booth - Kesler - Schroeder Higgins - Hodgson - Hansen Malhotra - Lapierre - Pinizotto Hamhuis - Bieksa Edler - Tanev Ballard - Connauton Luongo Schneider Raymond gone.

The Raymond Gone part put a smile to my face.

  8. This sentiment is tiresome to say the least. Jordan Schroeder is a short hockey player, but his strength to height ratio is extremely high. Even if he never gets to be 5'10" there is no reason to think he wont be a productive NHLer. Patrick Kane is listed at 5'10" tell me if you believe that. Schroeder is already heavier than Kane, and will likely have a similar playing style to Martin St. Louis who is listed at 5'9"(I would say he has had a great career).

Im not sure where you are from, but 6'0" isnt considered a midget, which is exactlly what Rodin and Hodgson are listed at. I realize they arent Joe Thornton or Ryan Getzlaf, but not every player is. Mike Gillis is building the team with ONE major focal point and that is SKILL. Would you consider Datsyuk, Zetterberg, M.Richards and Crosby midgets? I wouldnt, and guess what they all have in common, they are listed as the same height or shorter than, to use your term "midgets", Hodgson and Rodin.

What would you rather have a bunch of tall semi-skilled guys, or a bunch of average sized highly-skilled players?

I know what I would choose, and based on the most successful team of the past decade (Detroit), skill beats size most of the time!

    Rodin is 5'10 1/2
