  1. Aside from Russell Wilson, the Seahawks are probably the most arrogant bunch in the league (even well before Richard Sherman's rant last night). How anyone outside of Seattle could cheer for them is beyond me. Grew up watching Manning and Harrison, so definitely hoping Peyton will shred that D into pieces.

  2. I'd still take Phil Kessel. Kessel is a game breaker. He's an elite goal scorer. You're not going to find those type of players in your backyard. Let's say they had saved those picks and picked Seguin and Hamilton. It wouldn't even benefit Toronto at all because they're already loaded in those two positions. They already had Kadri and they have Gardiner so essentially those would be wasted picks whereas you can land a goal scorer now and worry/wait for your prospects to develop into the same type of players you could've drafted later. IMO, Toronto won this trade.

    exactly

wow ... As Im reading this , its obvious we lost our way in this conversation ..... haha ... better start a new thread ..

    lmao, my apologies my friend

  3. How exactly does Kessel support the rest of the cast in Toronto? By floating around vacantly when he doesn't have the puck on his stick?

    Here's something else that's 'cute':

Kessel, the 8 million dollar man:

    and Kessel's "lights out" playoffs:

-15.58 with 20% higher offensive zone starts than finishes... wow, now that's impressive.

Kessel is one dimensional - hockey is a two way game. The guy is on the shortlist of the most over-rated, overpaid players in the NHL.

its interesting you brought up how many points Seguin has in this young season while disregarding that Kessel is 2nd in the NHL behind Sid

still waiting on how any player from that trade (not from the Stars) could have nearly as big an impact on this offensively challenged team

  4. We're aware of Moulson's UFA status and his present cap hit - the Sabres added a 1st and a 2nd round pick in the deal, and apparently re-signing Vanek could not be achieved with a (rumoured) 9.5 million/yr deal, so it's hard to argue with the deal that Regier cut - it's a virtual no brainer, particularly when you're trying to move an already gigantic cap hit.

As for the Kessel deal, it was and still is a horrible deal - you can caution us not to pass judgement, but before you hail it as a better deal than people thought, you might want to familiarize yourself with who the Leafs actually gave up in that deal.

    Seguin

    Hamilton

    Jared Knight

Seguin is a 2nd overall pick, 21 year old who has 12 points in 11 games, is in his fourth NHL season, with a +34, 67 point season as a 19 year old, followed by a +23 shortened season last year. The Bruins moved Seguin and Peverley - 9 million worth of cap hit - in order to create cap space, and acquired a hell of a player,Eriksson, with a very reasonable contract (4.35 millon cap hit) in return.

Dougie Hamilton is a 6'5" 9th overall pick who made the Bruins last year as a 19 yr old. The Leafs could sure as hell use Dougie Hamilton.

Jared Knight is no slouch of a prospect himself - arguable the best RW prospect in the Bruins system.

This is still a horrible deal for the Leafs and in all likelihood will only continue to get worse and worse in hindsight. Some people sipping Leafs Koolaid have tried to suggest that the deal now appears to be a better one for Toronto than had appeared, but that is creative denial at its finest. Kessel is still a one dimensional, over-rated player to which you can now add severely overpaid.

thats cute, when Phil Kessel was in his 3rd year had 36 goals, and at 26 hes not exactly an old man

you know who had the best/plus minus in the league in 2004? Marek Malik..i guess he's better than Phil Kessel too

I dont care what Seguin has so in 13 games so far, he had 1 goal in 22 playoff games last season where as Phil was lights out

I do like Loui Erikkson but the Leafs needed a goal scorer and you're crazy if you think any of those players would have been as successful on Toronto playing with the supporting cast Kessel has

  5. still a bad trade they just made the playoffs in Kessel's 4 years of being in Toronto and that was in a shortened season still time for them to collapse like they always do in a full 82 game season this year

now imagine if Burke was actually patient for once and kept those picks and built through the draft i still take Seguin and Hamilton over Kessel everyday of the week especially for a team that was nowhere close to making the playoffs Burke misjudged his team

not even Boston would still take Seguin, hence them trading him away

still too early to tell for Dougie Hamilton though, but tough for anyone to say he'll be as impactful as a Phil Kessel

dont be surprised when the Leafs do make the playoffs and Phil is around the 40 goal mark

  6. You guys do know that Moulson is also a pending UFA, right? What are the odds he re-signs.

big Moulson fan but this a great point

we have no idea what goes on in negotiations, Moulson could very well hate NY and Vanek is an amazing player

I recall not too long ago the majority of people saying Kessel for two 1sts (Seguin and some other guy) was a bad trade by the leafs...let time pass before passing judgement, these GMs know more than we do

  7. All the themes are good but I like these ones the best which are everybody's favorites.

    these are beautiful

nostalgic feelings of sitting in front of a fire place on cold sunday mornings while listening to the CBS theme and the NBC one has me wondering how I can possibly still enjoy SNF once Al Michaels retires.

  8. Edgerrin James and Marvin Harrison will be in attendance for Sundays game!

As someone who grew up watching that exciting Indy offence all those years, I cant wait. With everything surrounding it, I think Colts/Broncos will be the game of the year.
