Absolutely no truth to this. Gillis' post season comments reaffirmed his high hopes for Hodgson in that he said that many trade deadline deals did not happen because everyone wanted Cody and he didn't want to let him go.
You guys will never stop trying to hijack threads and make them all about Hodgson.
Gillis tried desperately to avoid Hodgson . He talked about the canucks prospects as a whole until a reporter finally had to ask specifically about Cody.
Even then, he says he has no idea if he can make the team, but he has high hopes for him. Like he does all our prospects. Its not something specific to Hodgson.
Its not like he has high hopes for the clown but nobody esle. He then went on to talk about Connaution and Sauve in great detail.
Gillis stated that to get a top 4 RENTAL he wasn't prepared to trade Hodgson. Now you tools are twisting that into EVERYONE wanted Hodgson .
Isn't it great to hide behind the internet and make up chit anytime you feel like it? You guys do this all the time.
ANYWAYS, can we get back to Jordan Schroeder now? The thread is supposed to be about him.

We will re sign Welly and both Schroeder and Hodgson will be in Manitoba next year, unless injuries hit.

I would like to see what kind of season he has next year in manitoba. If he does well, he could be ready for the 2011 - 2012 season

I have never seen a prospect so ridiculously over hyped in my life than Cody Hodgson.
But back to Schroeder (remember him? its his thread right?) ....
Hes already proving to be good enough to play in the AHL at 19 and not only that, thrive.

5'10 is all good but unfortunately he is not 5'10. The only player ever that is shorter than 5'8 to EVER have a great career is Fleury. Gionta is 5'8 but he really isn't that great. I wouldn't have signed him.
Plus you have to look at the big picture. If Hodgson and Rodin make the team, you really do not want anymore midgets. You would be nuts if you didn't want any of our smaller prospects to have a growth spurt. I would rather him grow 2 inches than score a lot of points in College hockey.
Marcel Dionne were shrimps and are hall of famers. There or a whole pile of other guys who were good.

You realize he's still getting $2 million a year, right ?
That's not a paltry sum of money to make ... Most people don't make that in a lifetime (45 years of working an average of 2000 hours a year for an average of $20/hour = $1.8 million

And while Im on the subject, the NHLPA should allow there to be a one time bonus to one guy per team per year for the guy who is totally getting underapid.
Alex burrows sweated like a dog to make 500k and shut down guys with Ryan Kesler
Then sweated like a dog to score 28 goals with the sedins for 500k.
now hes going to get 40 goals maybe for 2mil bucks?
Give me a break.
FA should give Burr a 3mil dollar bonus this year.
Im dead serious. I know its against the CBA and everyone would think they want a cut in the future blah blah.....................but this is an extremely special case of a guy whose been underpaid for a long time and has to live with this 2mil contract thru his top prime years until age 32
I think he should get a special owners bonus.

No matter how much hype Burrows is getting recently, hes STILL the most underrated guy in the NHL.
They should have a 'under rated underpaid guy ' award.
The most underrated guy ever was probably Ron Francais . Dont know who was the most underpaid.
Probably Bobby Orr was the all time most under paid guy for what he brought to the ice.
Lets go with the Burrows winning the unofficial Ron Francais unsung hero award for the entire NHL.

I'm currently reading his book - compelling stuff. Funny, I used to always wonder why his parents weren't at his matches...makes sense now.
One part of the book describes how, as a young boy, his Dad used to make him hit 2,500+ balls every single day. There would be so many balls on the court he'd be tripping on them, but his Dad just insisted he continue. He modified a leaf blower so he could blow them off the court.
Ya I was an Agassi fan over Sampras. I guess I was a glutten for punishment.
Pistol Pete laid a beat down on the 'heir apparent' more often than not.
I still dont know how he lost that 91 french final to Courier.

I cant believe how under rated Burrows is. His agent should be shot but hey, helps us sign more guys.

I'd be willing to bet he actually isn't pinhead because pinhead posted positive comments in this board about Burrows. OP was so stubborn in his hatred for Burrows I'm pretty sure his pride couldn't let him do such a thing, even under a different name haha

And I agree with Deb that it looks like burr is going to start turning it on again. That no look spin to Henrik was a world class pass.

I was thinking the same, but he only has one year on Schroeder, and although they really are two different players, Schroeder has been hyped up a lot more IMO than White ever was. I just have this crapty feeling that White could put up 35pts and 15-20 goals this year...good for him, but I would be choked!...although I would still make that trade anyday with SJ to get Erhoff - that guy is a stud on our back end and has some potential to still unlock.
Schroeder was drafted lower than expected and White was drafted ahead of expectations.
Schroeder will be a good pro.

Doesn't the fact that Gillis even suggested that Schroeder leave college to joing the Silvertips infer that he thinks that Minnesota isn't the best place for Jordan to develop? If he was happy with the system he was in, he wouldn't have even given him that choice. He didn't have to openly ask Schroeder to quit college in order for it to be fairly obvious that it was his preference for him to play in the WHL.
Edit: can you guys quit bitching at each other, or take it to PM? You're starting to get way more annoying than wetcoaster ever was.

I'm keeping all of my hopes reserved until the players make the team from now on, been burnt/disappointed one too many times.
I think Schroeder is the real deal but then again I wrote that about Michael Grabner this year.

Schroeder was +1 with 2 assists and one near goal (called back on review) in the exhibition against UBC. Good first outing for our budding superstar (too early?)
I do think he can make the Canucks next year. The NHL is headed for pure speed. Its why a guy like Patrick Kane isnt PASTED into oblivion anymore.
Schroeder is strong on his skates and has speed. I got high hopes for him.

Of course its revisionist history. This is CDC , where its all revisionist history depending on what they want to believe.
The guy was terrible. He was SLOW. However, this back excuse crap never lead to any 'permanent damage' supposedly and never required any surgery either.
How about the fact hes too slow? He is too slow to dominate the NHL, just like Kyle Wellwood is .
Shroeder is fast, skilled, played at the College level and now the AHL level and produced. Hes also younger than Hodgson.
More people need to start waking up to these basic facts.
