Why can't hockey fans enjoy watching all players and all teams?
Never got the nationalistic or single mindedness of having to subscribe to one team or country or city or province or whatever.
I.E: 'Luo's gone-he was never a Canuck-don't mention Luo in Canucks talk.,etc.....'
It's a big world out there and people should not limit their mind or enjoyment level of the game.
Islanders played well tonight,the Canucks are having problems. Just accept it and hope the boys turn it around soon.
Tell that to the Ukraine. You sound like a "No one is illegal" type.
All sports are to build group/tribe settings,if you miss that you are missing a big piece of history.

If the team is supposed to make the playoffs,why did Gillis not improve the team?

Was thinking if Torts blew off the post-game he would be gone for sure. Now I am curious to see what happens in the next couple days.

CBC will act like they wont jump on a team when they are down and follow that by doing a long attack through the Moore incident.
They will connect that to Kassian and the last time we played Calgary. The whole pregame panel will dogpile on.
Intermission will be Maclean talking out the side of his mouth and salivating at our fortunes.
If this game gets out of hand score wise or fight wise CBC will go right into character assassination.
Tempted not to watch but like a well trained sheep I will watch.

Looking at the schedule I do not see anything being done till Wed. Due to the Tues game being a good shake out gauge for rebuild or go for it this year.
So what are the thoughts on the Pen deal being leaked?
I am a bit worried because of the Nonis/Dredger garbage that went down last year with the LU trade.
Its that and Gillis is being played again or its a sign that we are trying to drive the cost up,hopefully the latter.

I disagree with you on that considering MG has not made a move of this ilk yet.
Then you get 2-3 prospects that are not much of a gamble. Jenner is not a gamble IMHO. B Schenn is not a gamble IMHO. Pouliot is not a gamble IMHO.
I look at it differently. If done well then the 3 pieces could be a flat out win. Going all-in for a single player could end up a disaster because of a single injury. I do believe in hedging this bet. Get the impact player just get them younger…. that's the best way to make a trade deadline deal.
When you mentioned prospects and the amount of 2-3 players in the deal I was thinking farther along the line in development or younger. I like all the names you mention but Schenn wouldnt be considered a prospect at this point.
What I thought you meant was 2-3 players that where more iffy.
Columbus is really interesting based on what we could get in a package,I agree Jenner should be involved if we go the multiple route rather than shooting for the moon in Johansen.

I'm not even sure what that means but every time we've made a similar move it hasn't been awful for us.
Linden was a good trade, Bure though by necessity helped us down the road, Mogilny was decent considering his contract…. all of these deals helped shape the future teams.
I can't think of one like that where we completely blew it. Many teams have though.
Just meaning that I rather see us go after a decent player than hope for 2 out of 3 prospects to turn out.
We are talking about Gillis and that worries me more than if it was another GM with some intelligence in the trade arena.

Frankly, we'd be better off getting 3 pieces to develop and stack our system with momentum than going all-in for a single player.
Two ways of thinking and I would rather not go that route with our history as a organization.

Its the plus that I cant figure out if this deal was to happen around Edler/Franzen.
Dekeyser and Tatar are RFA and Dekeyser hails from the D.
For some reason I feel like we are targeting Abdelkader and the first.
Edler = Abdelkader,Franzen and 1st(maybe 2nd)
That would be my guess

The Team are super annoying to listen to. Not only do they manipulate conversations,they in turn talk over anyone that calls in with a opposing view. But then again some idiots call in every day and wait on hold to be made fun of.

If we make a re-tool why are the Sedins not involved?
They are being paid top line money and already we see a transition for them to play the 2nd line.
So we over pay to bring in players that may or may not play with Kesler and deplete our D or key role playing players in the process.
Gillis will sit on his hands till the end of the year when the value of our players is hopefully better.
We are still in the hunt,so why not see it through.

- Weise was lost and useless for that line,it makes sense now seeing he is being offered around the league. But still it made no sense to keep putting him out with that line.
-Kesler needs to practice passing the puck when driving into the zone,he kept coughing it up once behind the net.
Besides the fact a team will eventually clean his clock,since he rarely has his head up in this process.
- Some players should not block shots,they suck at it.
- Sedins are at their best now,wait till next year
- If we lost 3 players from one player why was nothing done about it? Are we not a team that makes teams pay now?

We are in need of a shakeup and Gillis has backed himself into a corner.

Think a lot of the issue gets lost when people talk about their issues with overpaid government workers. The issue I have with that is unions are dying all over the globe and people seem to be willing to let this happen or even enjoy the fact it may come. Problem is you will lose all the benefits that came from people fighting for our rights. Weekends gone,overtime gone,working 18 hours days yes,any protection at work gone and wages would soon follow. Show me a career that is not being squeezed lately? People dont seem to realize that there is as we speak votes and acts being passed that will make us all one big global soup that will allow employers to run the wages to nothing. If you doubt that I suggest looking into some of these groups. Ok enough of a rant..
I wanted to ask what the difference is between cable and cell phone providers? We just had Rogers screaming bloody murder about a new party coming into the mix that may or may not have given a unfair advantage and yet here we are watching them do that with cable. So whats the difference and why are there no rules in place to protect these things happening?
End of the day its just another knock on what it means to be Canadian and we lose another institution that brought great memories.

Sedins and leadership is just a rerun of Naslund from years past. They lack that intangible of rallying the team when needed.
Good guys just not there.
