  1. You;ve only got 8 players total there no matter the line combos. Still need someone else in the top 9, preferably with experience if we're playing 2 rookies next year.

    How about

    Sedin - Sedin - Burrows

    Raymond - Kesler - Schroeder

    Hansen/ Oreskovich - Hodgson - Samuelsson

    Rypien - UFA - Oreskovich / Hansen

    ?

  2. i'd love to see

    raymond-kelser-shroeder

    ladd(example)-hodgson-sammy

The speed on that second line would be immense, and I like the idea of Ladd and Samuelsson / Burrows being able to bang and hit a bit to offer a bit of protection to Hodgson.

  3. So, was skimming through stats on a boring day and noticed that Schroeder went from 9 points in 11 AHL regular season games to a point per game in the playoffs, 6 in 6. Most people probably already know this...

Very low amount of stats, but just a thought that he could be a playoff performer who reaches a higher level when it matters most! I believe his 3 goals were from a hat trick he got in one of the playoff games too.

Excited for both him and Hodgson! (BTW schroeder is listed as RW, so him and hodgson next season IS a possibility.

I think Schroeder will play on the wing for the Canucks long term, only playing center if we're desperate with injuries and what not, pretty much the exact opposite of Kesler who plays center unless a D.Sedin is down and he might step up on Hanks wing (like he did in November).

  4. I think that when training camp kicks in..you've got Grabner,Raymond,Hodgson and Schroeder...all relatively the same flavour...somebody is going to be expendible..!!

    Hodgson is a center though...

    Sedin - Sedin - Samuelsson

    Raymond - Kesler - Grabner

    Schroeder - Hodgson - Burrows

works for me, Burrows on the third line adds a bit of toughness / grit and protection so Schroeder & Hodgson don't just become punch bags dressed in blue, green and white.

I know that's a bit harsh on Burrows, and maybe Samuelsson could play on the 3rd, but I don't like Burrows on the same line as Kesler other than on the PK, they go back to their old grinding ways instead of the attacking threats which they proved they are 09-10.

  5. We will re sign Welly and both Schroeder and Hodgson will be in Manitoba next year, unless injuries hit.

There's a top 9 wing slot up for grabs though, unless Gillis smokes some crack and resigns Demitra.

Hodgson maybe isn't as adaptable to the wing, but Schroeder certainly has experience there.

Schroeder - Wellwood - Grabner wouldn't be a bad 3rd line (providing Wellwood brings his playoff game to the regular season).....

Good luck to any team trying to keep up with them, wasn't Schroeder rated as the best skater in the '09 draft?

  6. I wouldn't mind having Hodgson play for the Moose. But give him the occasional call-up and see what happens, maybe he'll will his way onto the Nucks roster.

I guess where Hodgson plays next year depends on where Wellwood signs. because if Wellwood doesn't sign with the Canucks, then we'll need a third line centre whose name happens to be COdy Hodgson.

  7. I can't help but agree. A full year of pro hockey would be very beneficial to the development of both Hodgson and Schroeder. At their age and development levels, 20-22 mins a night in the AHL, playing all situations, would be better than 10-12 mins a night, coupled with occasional healthy scratches in the NHL.

    +1

At Manitoba, Hodgson would get 1st line, 1st PP, PK and 4v4 minutes, Schroeder the same, but probably minus the PK.

If they played 3rd line with the Canucks, I doubt they'd get any other shifts unless Kesler / Burrows took a fighting penalty with Vancouver ending on the PP (instigator call), which lets face it, might happen once a season if we're lucky.

  8. Well, we want him out too, but for completely different reasons. They are just mad because he's not wild property and need a scapegoat for why the team sucks, ignoring the fact that the team overall talent level dropped significantly, not to mention the coach getting worse and worse).

tbf, this was probably the best post i read about him on the gophers forum:

To address the original post, the Canucks shoudn't be worried. Jordan has the same problem that many of the Gopher NHL draft picks have had recently. He still has the talent and will do just fine once he gets to the point where his donkey will be benched for this kind of effort. Let's face it, he still plays on the first line and gets ice time playing halfheartedly. He is still the best potential player on this team and our coach won't bench him. He get's benched he goes pro. There isn't a threat there and he knows it. Once he gets to the pros and he isn't good enough not to get benched he'll put in the effort and become a great player again.

He'll be back playing 100% when he gets to the Moose, like they said ^ there, if he doesn't bother putting the effort in, then he'll spend his time watching the AHL from the press box.
