  1. We all should be grateful that a star calibre player who isn't from here actually wants to sign with us.

If we get Miller as a UFA, it increases the value of the Canucks asset pool at no cost besides cap space, And with the cap to increase as it is expected, we would be in good shape, even if we gave Miller $5,000,000 per year.

Miller jumped to a new team last in the season and didnt adjust quick enough in the new system. I think with a full training camp and season, Miller will fit right in here. He's one of the few goalies who can steal games on a regular basis.

  2. A nice rainy day to help them showcase Vancouver.

I can't believe the hate Miller gets on here. He's a great goalie who would be a good mentor for Lack, and maybe more importantly Demko.

It's not like we have to sign the guy to a 10 year deal. He'd be here until Lack can handle 60-70 games on his own, or someone else emerges as a clear number 1.

This, and if Miller doesn't pan out, we can trade him to a contender for a 1st round pick +

  3. I like Luongo, but:

    2013

    Luongo GAA = 2.38 Sv% = 0.917

    Lack GAA = 2.05 Sv% = 0.926

    2012

    Luongo GAA = 2.56 Sv% = 0.907

    Schneider GAA = 2.11 Sv% = 0.927

    2011

    Luongo GAA = 2.41 Sv% = 0.919

    Schneider GAA = 1.96 Sv% = 0.937

Three seasons of being outplayed by another goalie with the same team infront of him doesn't look too good (and the differences in these categories are not small neither).

I, for one, am stoked that we got Markstrom & Matthais in our system and and extra 3 million in cap space.

If we still had Schneider, we'd still not be that much better, and if we still had Schneider, we would have lost Luongo for nothing since we couldn't trade his contract at the time. But instead, we have a blue chip prospect in Horvat, a blue chip goaltending project in Markstrom, and a serviceable young forward in Matthais and about $9 million in cap space.

Poor handling of the goaltending situation i agree, but in regards to asset management, I would have to say that things could have ended up much worse, and now we actually have a glimpse of hope for the future.

  4. No points for Horvat on Thursday, but he was named third star of the game... You have to be pretty damn good to have no points in a 4-1 win and be named a star. Another solid performance by Bo it seems.

  5. Are you guys even watching the Wolves games? I have watched maybe 80% of them and Schroeder has been a non factor in almost all of them. He's been getting his chance playing with talented players, but he just doesn't look like the player we saw in the preseason.

However, I do understand your need to stay positive, and I do hope he turns things around.
