1. So here my thoughts on the draft so far, Chargers went with Vernett, I wasn't overly thriilled by this I was personally hoping Nix. But Tom Telesco is probably the best drafter in the league, and I felt the same way about Fluker last year and boy was ever wrong on that. So hopefully that works out we needed a cb, and well the last player we drafted from TCU sort of worked out lol(LT baby!)

I see a lot of you guys are bashing Cleveland, I wouldn't be so quick to do so. Not saying I'm jumping on the bandwagon, but they are certainly an interesting team IF you have being paying attention to the offseason moves. Offence you have Manzeil, Gordon, Hawkins, Cameron and Ben Tate. Oh and Kyle Shannahan as your OC, who does have some experience with young mobile qbs(maybe RG3 rings a bell). Even their defense is pretty interesting, they went Justin Gilbert who is supposed to be a big shutdown corner, which complement them nicely as they do already have Joe Hayden, who is the best cb in the NFL(yes better than Sherman, look what AJ Green does against the browns enough said). So I am intrigued to see how that all works.

I feel bad for Bortles, I am not so sure he can succeed in Jacksonville, they just have nothing there in terms of support. Hopefully they take more of Aaron Rodgers type approach to it and let him sit under Henne while they restock the rest of their team.

What can say about Houston and that D-Line, do you think opposition QB only plays out of the shotgun against them? LOL. On the opposite side of that can Detroits Offense look any scarier, you can't double team them all, I feel like it will be super annoying fantasy-wise but figure each week it will be someone else week to just put up a monster of game.

Theres still some interesting picks out there I hope Nix slides to us, though thats asking a lot. Corey Latimer the other guy I will be watching closely, I think he will be a steal for whoever gets him.

  2. At least the Hawks won a championship before players hit free agency. Now that they won, won't be as much pressure to keep on winning. Their team will be dismantled in the next few years due to finances though which happens to most teams (they'll give good money to 4-8 good players they value highly, lowball the others and most of them will sign elsewhere). It's hard keeping everything in tact with such a good, young team but like I said, at least they won so it's not as big a problem that it could've been had they not won.

Well yeah exactly, its just going to be a disappointment for all those fans already claiming a dynasty, but those fans also annoy me so I dont really care haha

  3. Seattle extends Earl Thomas 4 years $40 mill with $27 or so guaranteed. Highest paid safety, deserves it. Stud player.

Wow thats huge, and everyone thought Weddles contract was crazy for a safety, and he got 40 over 5 years! Thomas deserves it, couple that with Shermans new contract, that reportly is well above Revis' contract, and Wilsons contract, Seattle is going to be crippled by the cap, well atleast they snuck that 1 sb win before that happens

  4. Personally, I would love to see a tight end taken with 1 of the first 2 picks, and a DE/OLB hybrid with the other of the first 2 picks.

The Patriots need a play making tight end to take attention of tacklers off of Gronk. When Hernandez and Welker were here, defenses couldn't have 4-5 guys tackling Gronk every time he caught the ball cause they were stretched across the field by Hernandez and Welker. Not only did this decrease the chance of injury dramatically, but it allowed Gronk to manhandle guys.

Last year, with no other legitimate threat besides Gronk when he returned, teams had 4-5-6 guys tackling him on every play. I know the play that injured him was just 1 guy diving at his knees (and had Gronk had taken off with his other foot at the line of scrimmage, his weight would have been on the leg that didn't get hit by TJ Ward and he wouldn't of gotten injured) but we need to distract defenders.

2 tight ends that I would love to see in a Pats uni are:

    1. Jace Amaro, Texas Tech.

    2. Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Washington.

Too bad Eric Ebron will be gone way before the Pats get to their pick.

2 DE/OLB's I want the Pats to draft are:

    1. Kony Ealy out of Missouri. Dude is a beast at disrupting a QB's pocket.

    2. CJ Mosley out of Alabama. Bill loves Bama LB's, and just like Hightower did in his time, Mosley carried the Tide.

Any 2 of those 4 with the first 2 picks and I'll be a happy, happy man.

would you trade up for Eric Ebron, assuming that means either giving up your second and possibly a 4th or first next year. He's going around 9 or 10 in most mock drafts so you would have to give up alot to move up.

  5. Patriots schedule released along with all other teams. Another easy schedule. I don't mind, people always complain, but I honestly don't like it...we get screwed in the playoffs due to it with the weaker competition. If I was part of management and knowing how good the Pats are, I'd want the toughest opponent possible tbh.

    Week 1- at Miami [W]

    Week 2- at Minnesota [W]

    Week 3- vs Raiders [W]

Week 4- at Kansas City [W]

Week 5- vs Cincinnati [W/L ...Bengals always seems to give a tough fight so this is a tossup]

    Week 6- at Buffalo [W]

Week 7- vs New York [W]

    Week 8- vs Chicago [W/L]

    Week 9- vs Denver [W/L]

    Week 10- Bye

    Week 11- at Indianapolis [W]

    Week 12- vs Detroit [W]

Week 13- at Green Bay [W/L]

Week 14- at San Diego [W]

    Week 15- vs Miami [W]

Week 16- at New York [W]

    Week 17- vs. Buffalo [W]

Pats basically have a realistic shot at beating every team (perfect season? :bigblush: [:(]) but likely will go 12-4 / 13-3, in that range.

pff they are not beating the chargers in San Diego, Allen is going to make revis look like a foolish oldman ha

I am the only one that finds it strange that the Seahawks broke this news? I'd be bit weirded out by that, what does his relationship life have to do with him playing football. Just doesn't seem like something to me that your team should be anouncing, leave that crap for tmz

  6.

Every mock draft has the Pats taking a DT in the 1st round. I personally just can't see it.

Yes Wilfork and Kelly are up there in age and both are coming off of major injuries, but Vellano and Chris Jones did a pretty good job filling in last year so that's 4 quality DT's already on the roster. I just can't see us wasting a 1st rounder on a DT who will be #3 on the depth chart behind Wilfork and Kelly.

I usually don't read too much into the mock drafts until the week of the draft. The week of the insiders get a little bit of info, and start getting some of the picks rights, before that though they're pretty much shots in dark, especially the later round picks

  7.

We need a speedy 6'4 + WR. That would be amazing.

You and Russian Rocket are sure downers of your own teams wideouts. I personally don't think your wide receiver corps are bad at all. You have to figure Dobson and Thompkins are going to take a step forward this year, as they were only rookies last year and are still learning. I think Lafell will be a great signing for you. Those are 3 pretty big fast wideouts that can make a play on the outside. Sure their no megatron but if you can get 600 yards receiving out each of them, that is more than good enough.

Especially considering how much BB likes his 2 TE sets, and working the middle of the feild with a slot receiver. Couple that with Gronks injury it seems to me that you guys should be a bit more concerned about the TE position. But thats just my opinion, I don't follow the pats nearly as close as you two do, is there another Sudfeld hype around a tight end you have?

  8. and Chris Johnson has officially been released, I wonder who will be in on that. I could see Alanta Dallas Houston and Jacksonville showing some interest.

Mike Williams traded to the Bills for a 6th round pick. Didn't see that coming, interesting fact, Doug Marrone once kicked Williams off a team at Syracuse..lol

  9. I prefer NFL but CFL is real football too. The only rule that drives me crazy in the CFL is how they stop the clock after every play in the final 3 minutes. That alone change alot of decisions throughout the game, and also rids them of a true 2 minute drive, which is the most exciting part of football imo. Anyways go Lions, I'm sure I'll end up at a few games this year

  10. ^I feel like Desean going to Washington has the makings of the most disfuntional locker room ever. Though they have the makings to be a really talented offense as well, though I think I'd be watching for the eventual implosion

  11.

Kendall Wright, Justin Hunter, Delanie Walker, Dexter McCluster, Jackie Battle, Shonn Green, Nate Washington, Chris Johnson.

Whats going on with Chris Johnson, I know they were hoping to trade him. Have they given up on that, or are you expecting to see something happen on draft day

  12. Yeah, it has the feel of Chicago coming in late and just making a slightly better offer. They knew exactly what Seattle was offering. Still, I would have liked to see him in Seattle especially if he would have come in at $6M per.

While the deal in Chicago is over 4 years its guaranteed money for 2 years so its basically no different then the 2 years Seattle was offering. Just a couple mil more per.

was Seattle offerring 12 mill guaranteed though? Because then its not really comparable at all. I know you are assuming he would play out the whole contract if he signed in Seattle but thats a big assumption for the NFL. Allen was after the pay day that was clear from day one, frankly I don't really care as I maintain my stand point that he is overrated, but in saying that I'd sure laugh if he got cut mid-season

  13.

I feel the need to stick up for my Lions here after you calling them one of the worst O-Lines in the NFL. Pro Football Focus has them ranked as the 8th best in the NFL last year.

    https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/01/13/2013-offensive-line-rankings/4/

Also allowed the second fewest sacks in the league with only 23.

    &nbsp

;ok I was just going off of memory so am clearly wrong, correct me if I'm wrong were they not having troubles with their O-line before though? maybe a couple seasons ago now? I know the bears and packers O-line haven't been good in recent years, well bears were decent last year, but years before they were a mess and Rodgers always seems to be one of the most hit qbs.

  14.

At the price he wants, $10 million per, hes maybe overrated. The fact that nobody is willing to take him at that price shows the reality of his situation. I dont know what numbers Seattle is throwing at him so no idea on where he will land but IF he lands in Seattle hes an upgrade over Chris Clemons who they werent willing to spend $9 million a year on. Bigger, stronger, faster and hasnt missed a game in over 6 years.

Well he's a bear, oh well. I just think he's a bit overrated because he played in nfc north for quite awhile, GB, Chicago(up to last year anyways) and detroit have all had one of the worst O-Lines in the NFL. He's and individual player, that just plays for his own glory, not the teams and has been known to give up on plays if he doesn't think he will get a sack. Not someone I would want on my team, especially not at 8 million per year and on a 4 year deal at his age. But I beleive more in the approach that Tom Telesco takwes, in finding players that truly love and are passionate about the game

  15. Personally think Allen is the most overrated free agent this year(or atleast on this board). Hope he does sign with the raiders, would love to see him and tuck crying on the sidelines because they have to go against Fluker two games a year, and he doesn't play so nice ha

  16.

No market out there for Wilfork. Robert Kraft said today they are working on bringing him back (at a way reduced price of course) and categorized Wilfork with the likes of Troy Brown and Tedy Bruschi when talking about all time Patriots greats and leaders.

Yeah thats not too surprising that there isn't a trade market for him. He does have a huge contract, if he was released I'm sure there would be plenty of teams in on him. I know Donald Butler as come out and said he thinks the chargers should go for him if he is a free agent. We don't have a lot of cap room though. But that would be interesting because you would certainly imagine someone would give him a good contract if he did hit free agency

  17.

I disagree with the Russian Rocket dude, I don't think LaFell is over rated, I think he's under rated. He's got good size and speed and has been steadily improving each season. He was in the shadows of Steve Smith and was being thrown to by Cam Newton who has a run first mentality and isn't the most accurate passer. I think the best of what he has to offer in the NFL is yet to come and I think Belichick can get that out of him. For 3 mill a year, it's a great deal. He's a big body. Our 2 starting receivers last year were both under 6 feet tall. In the NE vs CAR game last season, LaFell stood out because of his size and ability to run block.

yep pretty much how I feel, I already have in mind as a late round fantasy sleeper

  18.

Just curious why all the Pats fans think Lafell is such a great signing. I mean yes he isn't very expensive, but his best season ever is 44 catches for 677 yards and 4 touchdowns. Is it just his size or what? He doesn't have the most reliable hands ever with 6 drops (26th most I know not crazy high, but not good either). Feel free to argue with me, I mean I'm sure his stats will increase with Brady throwing it, but I just don't really understand the hype behind this signing?

Ya not a Pats fan either, but I do think its a good signing. When it comes to WRs in Carolina you have to look past the stats, because they don't nearly tell the whole story. I watched a few Carolina games this past year and what you would typically see out of their offense a lot of runs and screens, which doesn't fit Lafell game. He's a big guy fast guy that can play on the outside.

So if you were to watch him during a game it went along the lines of, oh look he's blocking this play, oh looks like he's blocking again this play, oh wait he's actually running..oh no just clearing out space for the screen. Then every now and again you would see him break off a big reception. It just seemed like any wr for that point was being under utilized there.

So ya its a gamble on their part, but with NE's lack of threats on the outside it just seems like it would work and he may be able to fill the hole Moss left. Plus 3 million a season for a WR is nothing, I don't recall all the details of the contract but I doubt their is much guaranteed money there, so big deal if he sucks you cut him. Thats what I love about the NFL, if you don't bring it you don't get your cash

  19.

Some quality guys still left heading into the second week of free agency. Majority of top guys are gone and second tier now remain.

Patient teams with a need should be able to capitalize who have slow-played the market thus far.

DRC is apparently playing the Giants and Jets off one another to see who gives the better offer.

Interesting to see how many rbs still available.

     \

DRC is a giant, not a bad signing for them, but they need good linebackers, especially having to play the eagles and redskins run games twice

  20.

Maybe a good ol' east coast vs west coast AFCCG showdown? ;)

That would be sweet rematch if we could top you guys this time lol, dam I wish LT healthy that game would've made it a lot more interesting at least

  21. I think jury is still out on Dobson and Thompkins. They showed enough last season to give me some hope that they can each reach 650/700 yards 4 TD's each this upcoming season.

Ya don't get me wrong I didn't want to call them busts yet they are still young, just the way you guys were disregarding them made it sound like you ha given up on them. But oh well you must be over the moon now, edlemen did the right thing, he's nothing on any other team. I think that lafell signing will be your best signing of the year, I don't know why just a hunch. I mean you won't win the Super Bowl, clearly the chargers have that lol..but your team is looking really good on paper
  22.

We need A receiver for him to throw to. Edeltron is visiting with 49ers tomorrow :( Breaks my heart

I think you guys are underestimating how good the draft is this year for wr's. It appears that you failed last year in drafting a wr, but that shouldn't be knock against relying on rookie a wideout. I mean look at my boy Keenan Allen, and their are supposed to be even better receivers this year.

Though I still think you should sign Brandon Lafell, very underrated wr in my opinion who was used mostly for blocking down feild in Carolina, he has speed though and just needs to be in the right system I think

  23.

Meanwhile in Tennessee we have signed Charlie Whitehurst...

bye bye clipboard jesus, we're going to miss you in San Diego...actually no we won't but I'm sure going to miss that nickname lol

  24.

I initially understood it as 2 years, 16 mill cap hit per year, but team could cut him after this season and not exercise their option on him

Ya ok then just espn speculating then that he would be cut after this year. But oh well you must be pumped thats a really nice pick up for you guys

  25.

He's already come out saying if he doesn't get a fair offer he's done. I dunno to me that sounds like someone who already has one foot out the door

He's a man with principles. Why play if someone doesn't think you are worth your value. He alreay has enough money for the rest of his life

well ideally you would want player to play for the love of the game, because he thinks he still has gas in the tank and wants to add to his legacy. Not because he thinks he can make another 8 mill. Not saying that is his intentions, but was just something I picked up on, because I don't think allen has much left in the tank and really I'd rather take chance on someone young and hungry and save the cap
