  1. As I have said many times, no one knows the limit of his potential or anyone else's for that matter. That is why it is potential. I have never once stated I know what he will or won't become (I would challenge you to show me where I have stated that actually). I have simply stated what he is and is not right now. I have always recognized his potential and posted as such. And that is not arrogance at all. It is simply an assessment of what he currently brings to the table. So you are completely off base on that argument.

In fact, I think you might be arrogant in suggesting that the potential floor for him is a 1.5 million player. That is the top of the range of comparable contracts this offseason. What if he regresses? What if injuries force him to change his game and he is not as effective at it? Those things are also possibilities. Notice I did not say probabilities, but possibilities. As I said, nothing is certain at all.

Also, you say I am wrong for suggesting that anything is possible until the contract is signed yet you are saying the exact same thing about Tanev's potential. Anything is possible and he could be this or could be that. We are saying the same thing about different subjects actually.

I think you are just arguing with me because it is me, not because you disagree with the points I was actually making. Since you are making the same points about different subjects.

Tanev might have a sex change. Probable, no... but possible.

  2. He needs time to adjust, just like any other player who joins a new team and is expected to assume a large role immediately. You have to remember the human side to hockey players, the guy who's trying to fit in somewhere in the locker room dynamic, trying to make friends - it's a workplace. I don't get the sense that he's not a personable guy, though. Seems as though he's already 'in' with the group.

I do think we'll end up regretting that 4.6 AAV, though. Hope I'm proven wrong.
