  1. Everyone shut up about Kylington.

We want big character guys, not soft guys with attitude problems. We want someone who wants to win and will do what it takes to win. Boeser is that guy, he fits are team build perfectly.

For sure. If you're a player like Kyl or Sprong you can GTFO. Team player or nothing.

  2. No one said Kes = "guaranteed cup." Stop presenting words which weren't even said. Doesn't take a genius to figure out adding a guy like Kes greatly increases your chances at the Cup. There's never a guarantee in hockey but there's always a chance it pays off. Take 2011 Cup Run for instance. Ends up, we lost cause we never had that extra player to push us over the too. Take us back in time. It's 2011 deadline. Would I trade Jensen(best prospect atm), roster player and a 1st for a player like Bergeron? Hell yea...look at it now, we would have had a Cup so your arguement is invalid.

Thought there were no guarantees in hockey though?

    Edit:

Almost forgot - cue huge bass solo!

  3. Soooo

    Johansen >>>>>Kesler

    &

    Murray>>>>>Edler

    ????

What do you think is fair worth when shooting down other proposals?

    Prehaps Kesler+ Edler for Columbus 2nd rd+Boll+Umberger?

He has every right to shoot down terrible proposals.

CBJ doesn't want to move their youth for Kesler and Edler. It's about what the team needs, and what CBJ needs is to keep building with the kids they've drafted and invested in. They don't have such an embarrassment of riches that they can afford to let go of their top center and top prospect.

  4. General manager Ken Holland, who spoke to about six fellow GMs while at the Olympics, tells MLive.com he is looking for a defenceman, but only if the price is right.

“This time of year you’re always looking for defencemen, but obviously there’s a lot of teams looking for defencemen,” Holland said. “We’ll see. It depends on what’s available. I don’t see us playing a big price on a rental. I don’t believe that’s the direction we should go but you never know when you get to Wednesday.”

sounds like Detroit would be a perfect fit as a trading partner for Edler especially since Edler is locked up for 4 more years at a pretty good price & considering the cap will be going up for a few more years.

loook at the red wings young player/ prospects at forward

    Mantha

    Jurco

    Jarnkrok

    Nyquist

    Tatar

    Sheahan

I think Nyquist & Mantha is too steep no way Holland does that but Nyquist and Shaehan would be pretty good

Nyquist is already showing he's producing Sheahan to some extent as well (12 pts in 20 gp) and he's 6'2" 212 pounds

I'd throw in Hansen if they want some forward depth maybe

Edler & Hansen for Nyquist Sheahan & 3'rd

only problem is there will be cap issues

    Tanev for Sheahan. :)

  5. this could be one of the reasons for the Weise for Diaz trade. not that you need a reason it was a good trade regardless

look at our top 6 d-men when healthy without Edler

    Hamhuis Bieksa

    Garrison Tanev

    Stanton Diaz

    Corrado

next year replace Diaz for Corrado, although we could re-sign him

I love the idea of trading Edler for a young forward like Schenn especially if we get a pick too. we need offence and as far as depth goes how hard is it to find 6,7,8'th defensemen

My goodness that is a brutal d corps I'm sorry. I think folks here massively overrate Tanev.

  6. I still think we have a good team that needs an infusion of youth and skill. That trade and our current prospects will help that.

There's no rush to move Kesler now unless it is a home run deal. That would be an overreaction.

I take it by your question that you don't believe we have anything?

I don't believe we have nearly the competitive team people think we do. Hope I'm wrong.

    EDIT:

And not to mention the fact that players are not happy about being here. Luongo and now you can (probably) add Kesler to the list.

So yeah. Arguably your two best/most consistent players don't really want to be here. What does that tell you? What is it that we have here?

  7. On the Pens pages over at HFBoards, they actually list Maatta as one of their untouchables.

I also read today where there play-by-play guy Mike Lange said the Maatta is the best defence prospect he's seen on the Pens in 40 years. Bennett also seems to be extremely highly valued. I've seen neither of them play so I really don't know what their value might be.

Sutter seems to be the designated trade fodder du jour as they basically can't get rid of him fast enough.

I believe BB is currently injured as well...

  8. So did anyone listen to Team 1040 this morning? There was speculation that the Canucks had completed a deal and would be announced Monday, following the Olympics. Apparently it's already confirmed, source is Pratt. Any guesses?

Can you elaborate? I've stopped listening to 1040 since they put Pratt on the air again with "Bro" (lol).

  9. Just a note to everyone regarding Emerson Etem. In 2010 we traded for Ballard, which meant we gave up our 25th overall pick in the first round. Etem was on the board and later taken, as you know, by Anaheim. One justification for the trade of the pick in the Ballard deal was that the Canuck scouts/management didn't feel their guys were still available (one of which was thought to be Tinordi).

So we made that deal cause we didn't like what was left - and a few of the next players taken were:

    • Evgeny Kuznetsov
    • Charlie Coyle
    • Emerson Etem

    Good times :(

  10. Yes they have earned a playoff spot. If they hadn't they wouldn't be in a playoff spot in the toughest division EVER in the sport.

If anything they should be higher had the refs not stole multiple games.

This is a good team. They're battling new systems and injuries.

Two president trophies is elite in my books.

    Those dastardly refs!

  11. They are DONE for the season ! Will be bloody surprised if they even make the p/offs, which they don't deserve to. They have all turned into journeyman players skating around like headless chicken ! I think they all want to be traded out of Vancouver.

I figure your use of comic sans is an indication of the seriousness of your post.

  12. ... glass is half empty eh?

It's a long season. These are proven winners you are talking about with pure natural talent.

They are in a playoff spot because they've earned it in the hardest division.

Too bad they're only proven President's Trophy winners and their natural talent is lacking compared to most of the other playoff teams in every category except maybe goaltending. We would be a hell of an Eastern Conference team.

They're never as good as they seem and never as bad as they seem, but given a half season of work, they won't make it out of the first round if they make the playoffs at all.

  13. Not sure I agree, he's produced better, but I think Burrows is playing more, and Dalpe has looked alot better at C than W.

I suppose you could have him as 3RW over Sestito tho (which is something I really thought about before clicking post)

And since when hasn't the top 6 F been about production? The heck does Burrows is playing more mean anyways? Of course he is playing more Dalpe is playing with Sestito half the time. If you'd rather have Dalpe center Kesler then fine, but the kid just isn't suited to a 4th line role. Same reason Hodgson wasn't slotted in there when he was here.
