Good post. I think that is a huge part of it. Jake will end up being a leader eventually but right now he needs guys like the sedins, burrows, Prust ect to get him acting like a pro mentally and physically. The hitmen aren't going to be able to do that. He will get more ice there but at least he can be monitored and trained here.

Exactly. To take it a step further I would say is he needs to be in the AHL. But he cant and the big club is probably the next best thing.

  2. I think it more of a situation where they feel his offensive talents will take care of themselves. He need's to think the NHL game, a point hes not at yet. I think they feel that once hes finally up to speed at the NHL level that his skill will take over from there. Scoring 250 goals in the WHL might sure look nice on paper but I highly doubt that will help him think the NHL game, which is pretty obvious what he needs to work on. He needs to work on his maturity as well and I think being around guys like Hank and Dank will go a lot further than being around a bunch of other kids who probably have their own maturity isses.

No he isn't needed at all. His game has fallen off and he needs a fresh start somewhere else. His contract and production levels would scare most teams. Canucks would have to eat salary if they were to trade him. We are most likely stuck with him until his contract is over.

Its all good to talk about what players used to be and what they accomplished. It's amazing and he had some great years.

This team needs to leave the emotion out of it, and make some difficult moves and rid themselves of Higgins and Burrows even if they have to eat salary.

That being said, I hope both players find success on another team, but it's time this team moved in a different direction.

Lots of tough decisions to be made that's for sure. God love the twins but lets be real here. We went to the finals because of a lot more than just hank and dank. There is a reason Burrows wears an A. Love him or hate him, he's a Canuck. I expect he will be one of the last to go. Part in due to his salary which he is basically owed. Part because he's still useful whether you accept it or. He can probably fill a spot on the fourth line and PK for a couple more years. He's the kind of guy that would do just that and not complain either. It's easy to label him for his mistakes, especially by the reddit generation with attention spans of about seven seconds, but he slays dragons, whether you like it or not.

yeah lets let him mentor our kids into attacking players personal issues and biting fingers... he's a joke and always has been

Burrows got paid a lot of money to do these things. What's your excuse for being a joke?

  5. I think some good came from the tourney for JV. Never hurts to get a harsh lesson in humility. Many people seem to think that what we saw is an indication of his end game. Only he will decide that. I don't want to quote something silly like whatever doesn't kill us but i will anyway. He got emotional sure. Some of that emotion hurt him. I have a strong feeling though that if Jake is going to ever live up to his expectations, its not going to be as a humble Sedin like player. JV needs fangs to have success. God only knows we need it.

  6. I think Beartschi is pretty solid. Hes going to get all the opportunity he can hope for. Really its up to him and I think he will be fine. In regards to his two goal evening. Some of the credit has to go to it being " Get the kids goals night ". Vrbata looked on a mission to just get him the puck ASAP, every single time. He didnt look weak or small which really bodes well for him.

  7. I think our prospects that can win faceoffs will have a bit of edge come summer. I just have a hunch that Gauncer may be the next rookie to crack the lineup. So many capable bodies these days coming up. Whos to know. Would like to see Jake burying puck with a Canucks jersey on though. I excluded Vey and Cheeser. Think at the very least they both have worked themselves out of the prospect realm.

  8. I just hope it's a full house cleaning. We have bigger problems than any Gillis presented. He wasnt perfect but he was smart. He may not have made the big deal to get it done, you can bet he did every darn little thing. It's kinda of sad that Gillis threw all his chips in with this core and they just sealed his fate for him this season. Everyone is culpable at this point. Should be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks. The new era of Canucks cant come soon enough. Who knows. Maybe it will be easier to let go of our heroes after this kind of ending.
