  1. I don't think you can call him out in the last 2 games stats never lie pal. In the last 2 games he's a 0g 2a -1. I'm not a die hard fan like you claim to be and i havent attended every game like you but I'm pretty positive that one of his - was from an empty net goal last game. Seeing that gaunce has been in on 2 of the 3 goals that Belleville has scored in the last 2 games and has been in on 7 of the 15 goals that the bulls have scored along with being included in a 5 way tie for 2nd in playoff scoring with 7 pts it sure looks as if the bulls are better off with him than without him.

    STATS DON'T LIE

I definitely see your point, but maybe we should take the word of the guy who actually watches these games in person. He's not slamming Gaunce or anything. He's just reporting on what he's seeing.

That being said, I hope Gaunce becomes a factor in turning his team around. Would not be good at all if the Bulls end up losing this series after leading 2 games to 0.

  2. Not saying he can't develop into a top 6 center. Just that many scouts say his offensive outputs may be maxed out at a 3C role with PK and defensive responsibilities in the NHL. If he can develop into this role I think he was a savvy pick. So I'm going off NHL scouts and not bias people on this forum to make my projections.

Fair, and I'm not necessarily guaranteeing Gaunce will be a top 6 centre either. I'm just simply saying I'm hopeful of that and I believe he can do better than what scouts are projecting for him. After all, there are a ton of examples of players in the NHL who have overcome the odds and become better than anyone thought they would be. Doesn't hurt to be hopeful. If he does max out as a 3rd line checking centre, hey, that's fine too. Heaven knows we could use that exact piece on the team right now.

  3. so your not excited about jensen either? His best ohl season was ppg as well. Stop looking at just numbers bro. Watch the games.

You must have mis-read my post. There are some people I've heard complain that he finished at only a point per game and that doesn't bode well for his numbers at the NHL level I'm saying that I don't put much stock into that, I think he can still be a top 6 offensive contributor on the NHL, regardless of the fact he didn't rip up the OHL. Really don't know how you read my post and got out of it that I'm not excited. Couldn't be further from the truth.

I have watched the only game I could watch and that was when Sportsnet broadcast Belleville vs Niagra a little while ago.

  4. Solid season for Gaunce. I refuse to put much stock into the fact he finished with just a point per game. There are several examples of junior players who tear up their league and go on to do absolutely nothing at the NHL level. His team was also one of the lowest scoring in the OHL before they made the deadline deals and then he started to ramp it up along with the rest of the team and the new acquisitions.

I still believe if developed properly he can be a top 6 offensive contributor on top of being a for sure impact defensive player.

  5. Maine lost a heartbreaker in Game 2, 2-1 in OT. Hutton went scoreless and finished with 1 shot on goal and an even rating in the loss.

Maine's season is now over. Due to NCAA rules, Hutton cannot join the Wolves or anything like that. He'll just have to gear up this summer for his sophomore season with Maine starting next fall. It's been a fantastic freshman year for Hutton, one he can be proud of.

  6. Maine lost to UMass Lowell 4-2 in Game 1 of their 1st round playoff series. Hutton went scoreless and finished with 4 shots on net and a -1 rating. As per usual, he skated on the top defense pairing with Mike Cornell.

    Game 2 goes today.

  7. Ben Hutton registered 2 assists and finished +2 for Maine in a 4-4 final tie with New Hampshire on March 9 to complete a tremendous freshman regular season.

    Ben Hutton's regular season stats:

    32 GP, 4 goals, 11 assists, 15 points, 18 PIMS, +3

    ______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Maine finished 8th in the Hockey East standings, which means they just qualified for the playoffs and will face #1 seed UMass Lowell in the 1st round. Game 1 goes tomorrow.

  8. Hutton didn't record any points or shots today but he did finish +3 for Maine in a 4-3 win over New Hampshire.

Maine plays New Hampshire again tomorrow to complete their regular season. They currently stand 8th in Hockey East.

  9. Belleville has lost 3 straight, but that's after they won 10 in a row.

And Gaunce still has put up 17 points in his last 15 games.

They're just in a mini slump right now.

Pretty much what I was getting at.

  10. Hutton had a powerplay assist and added 5 shots on net for Maine in a 4-4 final tie with Northeastern today, while finishing with an even rating.

FYI, Hutton has been starting every game lately on the 1st pairing for Maine with Mike Cornell.
