There's a difference between being mean , and being DIRTY.

Pronger makes Gordie Howe look like a cherub.

Remember the last really "big mean d man" we had?

    Andrew Alberts. 6'5 220 lbs

Everyone was hoping he'd come here and keep the house clean... but every time he touched a guy he was in the sin bin

Seems to happen whenever we get a player like that. The refs just flock to them like a fly to $#@.... so he toned his game back and wasn't nearly effective afterwards, then to top it all off, he gets boarded from behind by Malkin (no penalty of course) gets a concussion, and never plays again.

    Welcome to Vancouver! /sarcasm

Willy Mitchell was the guy who got the concussion from the hit from behind by Malkin. Alberts was taken out by and elbow to the head by Brian McGratton, about 4 years after.

Excellent. A couple of years under Green and a couple of years to work on his already good skating for a big guy and I think he can turn into an excellent 5-6 defenseman. Him and Petan as a 5-6 combo would be soo freaking awesome.

He's already stated that he has no interest in playing in the AHL. He will only leave the KHL to play in the NHL. A lot of NHL scouts over watching the KHL have said he is NHL ready now, thats not just coming from our scouts.

    Jeff Farkas?

  4. Called up by the Canucks. Will they get him any game time with the big team before the seasons end? Guess it probably depends on the next 2 games vs the Jets and Kings, but would be nice to see him get into the line up. Definitley one of our black aces for the playoffs.

  5. There's a difference between having perfect grammar and being competent with your use of periods and sentence structure. If you're shoving 4 sentences into one you shouldn't be allowed to interact with society.

Don't you have an English class you should be teaching?

  6. I'll leave it up for discussion because frankly I haven't seen much of Virtanen to have a concrete knowledge of his game.

But from what I've seen from him, I've found his game to be eerily similar to Kesler's. A big body who throws his weight around, isn't afraid to scrap and has a strong ability to put the puck in the net...

is my connection between the two viable? or have I not seen enough of virtanens game to make that judgement?

where do you see virtanen fitting into the canucks going forward? hopefully he'll be everything we've hoped for

Kesler isn't afraid to drop the gloves? Sure looked like it when he wouldn't even look at Dorsett when he challenged him for the hit Kesler put on him the last time they played. Really Funny after Kesler's comments towards Kronwall, when he said guys who throw those hits should be ready to answer the bell. Virtanen doesn't play the same position, is way more physical and a better goal scorer than Kesler was at the same age, so I don't get the comparison. I hope he's nothing like Kesler, who was a cancer in the dressing room.

  7. He’s been pretty good lately

Not as good as 2011 Burrows tho -_-

He's playing a different role. If all you look at is stats then yeah, he's not putting up the points he did when he played alongside thje Sedins. But he contributes in other ways that don't show up on the scoresheet. I agree he is overpaid, but he earned that contract, by being the highest scoring 2.5 mill player in the league for 3 years.
