NBC sucks

Proud Canadians!

NBC's coverage of the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympic Games was nothing more than awful! I watched CTV/SNP/TSN coverage of the games first and it was amazing. The director of the opening ceremonies used not only the stage, but the entire crowd as part of his huge canvas. The entire building was the show. CTV's coverage was like being in the stands and I really felt like we got to watch it as it was meant to be seen; as a cultural spectacle. NBC's coverage was terrible. They did a close up of a dancer with an ear piece taped to her ear. They kept showing the crowd when I want to see what the crowd is looking at! They did close ups for most of the ceremonies. I didn't even get to see the entire stage for over 60% of the time. My belief is that NBC doesn't want to show the beauty that was put on before us, to the millions of American viewers watching at home. Not only that, they also aired it 1.5 hours after it started! They cut out a good chunk of the show as well. The camera work was awful. I feel bad for the Americans that didn't get to enjoy the beauty we displayed, but i'm pissed off because some of them are too arrogant and self loving to actually show it for what it was. Shame on us for allowing NON olympic camera work into the building for the show after the atheletes walk in. If we were smart, we would have said that the Americans had to use our cameramen/women. And Shame on the Americans for thier lack of professionalism.

your thoughts?

I missed the first half of the CTV show so I watched the NBC to catch up in. I found it actually pretty stereotypical american the way the shots we directed. They didn't even film (AT ALL) the country that came after them when the US entered. They pumped up the cheers for when the Americans entered to make it sound like the crowd was super stoked to see them and then talked over the cheers when Canada entered. The close up shots of americans in the stands started to get on my nerves.

On another note... how amazing was KD Lang. Never really been a fan but she rocked that mic like CRAZY!

Why is people in this country think that the USA has some ulterior motive on the most trivial things? Take things for what they're worth and stop looking for excuses rag on the Americans.

They're an American channel, they focus on the Americans. We're a Canadian channel, we focus on the Canadians. Not that hard to figure out people.

It was interesting to follow the twitter feeds. The Americans who were tweeting all had negative things to say, going as far as to make fun of the slam poet for his weight. It was appalling to see that all they could care about was superficial things like appearance.

 A lot of the CANADIANS on THIS board were making fun of the guys weight. Stop acting like Americans are all bad people.

NBC had some kind of weird obsession with Shawn White. When they flipped to the athlete shots, it was always Shawn White. But very much agreed. I hate NBC and always have. It irritates me that when no one else gets the feed for a game it's because NBC has it. I don't want to watch anything on NBC. They suck. They've been having problems for a long time and they need to just finish falling apart, cry me a river, and disappear. Plus they had some kind of volume issues as well. Not to mention, in their summary, they're already listing it as "Martin Broduer, the NHL's all time leader in shutouts, leads a veteran Canadian squad onto its home ice on Tuesday as they take on Norway." Really?... /rant
