The Purple Panda
Well the end of the MLB season is nearing and it has been a long season. Yet suprising. Well when the regular season's over it will be 4860 games finished and over 801,900 minutes played. Lets put that into perspective for hockey fans... 5.5 NHL seasons are equal to one in length of an MLB. With the end of the MLB season comes MLB awards and this is the thread to discuss them in! Ill just post the front runners and who I think will win! Discuss away! AL Cy Young Felix Hernandez 13-6 2.51ERA 191SO 1.04WHIP 5CG 5SHO Felix is one of the games best pitchers right now. He just had a huge streak snapped where he was 9-0 in a span of 14 games and a 1.40 ERA. This could help and hurt him. He always starts slow and picks it up and who knows if the voters will count in Pre-All Star stats much. He also pitches in the most pitcher friendly ballpark so that could hurt his chances. He also has a perfect game against the Rays to go with his resume. Runner Ups Justin Verlander 12-7 2.80ERA 198SO 1.04WHIP 6CG 1SHO David Price 16-5 2.53ERA 170SO 1.10WHIP 1CG 1SHO Jered Weaver 16-3 2.85ERA 118SO .99WHIP 3CG 2SHO Chris Sale 15-5 2.81ERA 155SO 1.06WHIP 1CG 0SHO NL Cy Young R.A Dickey 17-4 2.63ERA 190SO 1.01WHIP 5CG 3SO Dickey has been the biggest surprise this season. I think its big enough to rise him to the top of the NL Cy Young list. He has overall the best stats of all the pitchers. One thing going against him is that this is his first very strong season and that may hurt him. Runner Ups Johnny Cueto 17-6 2.48ERA 144SO 1.12WHIP 2CG 0SHO Matt Cain 13-5 2.82ERA 164SO 1.02WHIP 2CG 2SHO PERFECT GAME!!!! Clayton Kershaw 12-8 2.85ERA 192SO 1.02WHIP 2CG 2SHO AL MVP Mike Trout .336AVG .977OPS 25HR 74RBI 42SB 107R In my opinion he should be the ROTY and the MVP. This kid is a stud. Huge bat and super fast. Also one of the best defensive outfielders in the AL. If you haven't seen any of his home run robbing catches... watch them. He's just a 5 tool guy. Although Cabrera has better stats than him, Trout in my opinion is more "valuable". Runner Ups Miguel Cabrera .329AVG .983OPS 33HR 109RBI 4SB 86R Adrian Beltre .316AVG .883OPS 25HR 82RBI 1SB 76R Prince Fielder .314AVG .931OPS 23HR 93RBI 1SB..(what?) 71R NL MVP Andrew McCutchen .344AVG .975OPS 24HR 79RBI 15SB 90R If anyone else watched last season they can agree with me on how bad the Pirates were. Now Andrew has sparked the team and they are playing .500+ ball. He is a speedy guy with a crazy bat. .344 average this late in the season is amazing... Runner Ups Ryan Braun .310AVG .993OPS 36HR 92RBI 21SB 89R Melky Cabrera .346AVG .906OPS 11HR 60RBI 13SB 84R
CanucksFanMike
Hernandez, Cain, Trout, McCutchen (i would have voted Cabrera before his 50 game suspension for testosterone)
Ashleigh
Let Trout have the Rookie Of The Year Award - which he no doubt will get, but come on now, Cabrera should be given AL MVP this year. Yeah, he hits like this every year but it's never recognized. I think he deserves it over Trout.
UMB
Trout is a fcking baws, and Ashleighh, just because he hits like that every year doesn't mean he deserves it, especially if someone else may be hitting even better than him
