hey guys, I have a question about potential. Is it better to have 3 red stars potential or 2.5 gold stars? Which prospect is likely to develop more?

Thanks!

From the EA's NHL 13 Review Guide that they sent me along w/ my review copy:

Player Progression:

  • Our potential system has been reworked to be more accurate than in years past. We used to have the 3 values that would be assigned to a player; this would cause many issues such as defensive defensemen who would not grow in defense. When we re-designed the system, we wanted to streamline it a bit.
  • The first part of the new player potential is what we call the tier. This value ranges from 0.5 to 5 (5 being the best). For example, a player who has a tier of 3.5 is meant to grow to a range between 77 and 86 overall.
  • The next part of the equation is a colour: Green, Yellow, or Red. These colours dictate how likely a player will reach his potential.
    • Green means the player is all but assured to reach his max potential range.
    • Yellow means the player will fall in the middle of the potential range.
    • Red means the player will end up towards the bottom of the potential range.
  • There is a randomness factor so the player could surpass or fall short of their potential.

As for 2.5Y vs 3.0R, I have no idea since EA didn't really specify the ranges for anything other than 3.5 :P

Notorious thug and team goal scoring leader Max Pacioretty was just thrown from the Colorado vs Edmonton game for a brutal hit on Eberle. Will Shanahan be calling?

20 games, minimum.

The refs hands were clearly tied, that's a call you just have to make.

I have a logjam at LW prospects @ 3.5G and 72 or 73 ovr. Would be looking to trade with a like player in terms of age, ovr and pot, but at D, if anyone has a surplus at D and a need at LW.

Nashville or Washington, game?

The Phoenix Coyotes held a team meeting without Jimmy Howard and have come to the conclusion that Howard's goal isn't the Stanley Cup, it is to focus on shutting out his old team as he posts 40 saves in a 3-0 shutout, and is on a shutout streak against the Wings.

E: The team takes back their words as he posts another shutout against the Flames in a 4-0 win.

Another classic between Colorado and Nashville. Halischuk ties it up with 26 seconds left on a reviewed goal then Hornqvist wins it with 38 seconds remaining in OT. 3-2 final

Yeah, that game tying goal was awesome. So much tension, and it really was a batted puck that could have gone either way. Oh well, at this point, I'm happy to leave a game with a point and no injuries.

My depth is also being tested.

My #1 LW Kunitz is out, but only for 2 more games.
My 2nd D pairing Regehr - out but back in 4 games.
1st or 2nd line centre Tlusty - out 36 games.
My #2 LW Pesonen - out 39 games.

Larsson just got back from injury, so did Green.
